Hi, I have the same model exactly and it wont turn on. Is there is a way to retrieve the data from hard disk?

The problem is that the drive is soldered to the motherboard. There is a service port, but basically only Apple has access to it.

Hey, unfortunately not without soldering. From the A1990 model series onwards, the SSDs are permanently soldered to the motherboard. Really a shame.

Hello! Please help, I can't find a solution to my problem! My MacBook pro A1990 won't turn on, the caps lock button is constantly light on! I've done everything but nothing helps! When I hold down the power button for 10 seconds, the light on the caps lock button dims and then shines brightly again.

Too many possibilities to make a remote diagnosis. Check all cables / connections… hard to say something more.

I have a water damage on the same laptop and Apple ask me $1200 to fix it. smh

They asked me for $1,771 and they didn't even look at it. I told them very little water was spilt on the keyboard; there response was that without even investigating it. They wanted to charge me that before even sending it off or taking it to the back to check on stuff.
