@@djrafa1 the flash storage is soldered to the board, there is no removable harddrive/ssd

Can the SSD data be rescued if the motherboard has died? The repairs shop I've taken it to has said no.

While you would normally remove jewelry, a ring would not exactly cause problems. You would remove your ring if you were working on larger/heavy equipment because a laptop does not weigh enough to make the ring de-glove your finger or crush the ring preventing removal.

at 2:17, what connector is he detaching? I need to replace the connector mounted on the board. I do not know what the part that is mounted on the board is called. Closest I can find is Hirose df40. It has 40pins. I can only find 42. Please help.

@@HerculanoLouro You can upgrade the SSD but Apple has made their SSD slots proprietary. You can buy adapters that will let you plug a standard M2 drive into the slot. @@jenem1855 not on this model. The last upgradable MBP are 2016 and 2017 NO TOUCHBAR and only for the SSD.

Just upgrade the motherboard if you have less than the 32GB, 2TB.
