The poem that he is singing is at least 150 years old, and many believe it was created by “Tahereh Ghorratolain” who was the first Iranian woman who fought for women’s equal rights, and eventually got executed for her movement...

Her story is tragic. But "the first"? Hardly... Do you have to exaggerate to make a point?

It is not at all exaggerated...I did not tell any detail of her brave but tragic story...

the song and performance are wonderfully beautiful....then add other dimensions; the meaning of the lyric and the life story of the poet and it becomes like magic...heartbreaking....

here are the lyric: If ever confronting face to face my glance should alight on you I will describe to you my sorrow for you in minutest detail. That I may behold your cheek, like the zephyr I have visited house by house, door by door, lane by lane, street by street. Through separation from you my heart’s blood is flowing from my eyes river by river, sea by sea, fountain by fountain, stream by stream. My sorrowful heart wove your love into the fabric of my soul thread by thread, thrum by thrum, warp by warp, woof by woof Tahira repaired to her own heart, and saw none but you page by page, fold by fold, veil by veil, curtain by curtain

It's pronounced indogh, it means these two. They are an Iranian husband and wife alternative band and live in San Francisco. I LOVE their music!! Incredibly versatile. I know you love 70's Persian music (so do I), but just you wait until you are more familiar w/ the explosion of fusion music coming out of Iranian society. INSANE!!

Ok, Mace and friends, here is my best try to translate this poem into English. Forgive my deficiency and consider that this is a mystical poem. If I should have the chance to see you in person and face-to-face, I will relate to you the pain that I'm going through for missing you, each by each and one by one. (This verse is the chorus of the song). Like zephyr, I have been looking for you home after home, door after door, alley after alley, and county by county to see your countenance. In the agony of missing you, through my two eyes, my heart is bleeding rivers and lakes and fountains and streams. The (My) bitter heart is has weaved your affection in the (my) soul, string by string, thread by thread, wrap by wrap, and weft by weft. Taahereh (The poet) looked into her own heart page by page and sheet by sheet and screen by screen and noticed no one but you. Tahereh Qorat Al-Ain

Namjoo has some strange and unacceptable (in mine and many others opinions) views on Iranians history and culture. It is like his music. I am aware of his mastery on music and he can make beautiful and innovative songs but then he goes on and make some weird noises and ruin the songs for me =)) any way he is definietly worth listening.
@a2zin125
@a2zin125 3 жыл бұрын
He is a genius in alternative music, we should separate his views in culture and history from his talent. The sounds he makes is exactly what qualifies his music as alternative genre.

I personally love his strange noises. But can I ask which views does he have? I'm not very familiar with it.
