Why do you have the Irish Flag on an Indian watch?
Flags are more than fabric; they are emblems of a nation’s freedom and pride. The Indian national flag, often referred to as the Tricolour, was adopted during a meeting of the Constituent Assembly in January 1950. The flag’s three main colours-saffron for strength, white for peace and truth, and green for fertility and growth-embody the essence of India.
Military aircraft have long carried insignia to visually identify their nation of origin. After India’s independence in the 1950s, the Indian military adopted two distinct identities: a roundel featuring the Tricolour and a fin-flash also displaying the Tricolour. Positioned on the tail-fin of Indian Air Force planes, the fin-flash shows green first when viewing the aircraft from the side with the nose pointing left.
Launched in 2019, the MACH 1 collection celebrates the stories of Indian aviation. Since then, the IAF fin-flash has proudly adorned the dials of most MACH 1 watches. This design feature symbolises India’s air power and reflects our collective pride in this heritage.
What are your thoughts on this remarkable design element of the MACH 1?
