I was thinking how to reduce the robot idle time while machining is in progress. You can use two jigs for loading and unloading the part from the cnc as buffers. when the machining is over, Simply take the finished part and put on the one jig while the next raw stock is positioned in the second jig. put the raw stock in the cnc and start the machining cycle. while machining you can take the part from the jig and put it in the finished product pallet, grab another stock place it on the black surface, take the photo, grab by center and place in the buffer jig. Sorry, I just typed while imagining the process. it might have some grammar issues :)

Awesome ! thanks for breaking it down, you make it actually look feasible. Side note, any chance you have the details on the Nam Brush(grit, RPM, IPM) ? I have been debating getting one, and I think you just made up my mind !

I rarely use stack or destack. They won't handle someone randomly adding or removing a part from a stack. It's better to rapid with a sensor instead although that's an extra tool.

Where did you get those black pieces the airline camera cord are going through on the knuckles of the robot?? Have one of your vacuum plate kits BTW, works great!!!

Hey Jay, I am wondering, in terms of speedup, although it may be not necessary to you, but the Action of the robot of photographing the pallet raw stock could be done already while the Haas is running. No obvious need to have to wait that extra time or do i not see the whole picture here? It would already know before unloading the pallet from the Haas that the new stock is valid...
@PiersonWorkholding
@PiersonWorkholding 2 жыл бұрын
Pre-photographing the pallet would be ideal but the software is the limitation. It doesn't allow anything between the photo and pickup move.

Do you tell the robot the number of blanks for the pickup subprogram, or is there a way to get around the problem of robot trying to pick up the cart after the last blank?

Hey Jay, how are you getting the robot and machine talking to each other? I've got a UR10 and I get the haas machine to turn a signal on so the robot knows the cycle is done but I'm not sure how to do the opposite and have the robot tell the machine it's done loading and cycle start on its own
@PiersonWorkholding
@PiersonWorkholding 3 жыл бұрын
The robot triggers the mill using a relay that closes the leads on the cycle-start button.

Have you successfully integrated a Universal Robot with the the Pierson Mini or Pro Pallet system? My Pro pallet sometimes requires some grunt force to remove it - does the UR generate enough force?
@PiersonWorkholding
@PiersonWorkholding Жыл бұрын
It sounds like a classic case of your air pressure set a little too low. It needs 100psi minimum or else pallets feel "sticky". Robots are actually better at removing pallets because they lift in a very controlled, straight-up manner, whereas humans can lift off-axis.
@E3_Machine

How does the robot interface with the CNC to cycle start and communicate? Is that electronic? So can the CoRobot read input signals to initiate subroutines and generate outputs to indicate certain states? Such a great setup. Thanks for this video
@PiersonWorkholding
@PiersonWorkholding 4 жыл бұрын
We wired one of the robot outputs to a digital relay. That relay is wired in parallel to the cycle start button in the machine pendant. When we send a digital signal from the robot to the relay, the Haas sees the closing of the relay as if the cycle start button was pushed.
@20vK
@20vK 4 жыл бұрын
@@PiersonWorkholding That makes sense. Thanks for the answer - I've been wondering for a while how these different machines actually synchronise with each other when both have variable time periods on their respective subroutines and processes. Also wondering - do you have a microswitch on the Haas door so your robot doesn't push a chunk of Ali through the window?
@sdmsrobotics
@sdmsrobotics 4 жыл бұрын
@@20vK I'm a UR integrator - in the case of the Haas, the robot can also communicate via the Ethernet connection on the machine, which enables it to queue up specific CNC programs in the robot program. Otherwise, you're usually doing what Pierson says, sending an electrical signal to simulate the cycle start button being pushed, and waiting for the electrical signal to indicate the job is done.
@Factory400
@Factory400 4 жыл бұрын
@@20vK Yes, indeed. The door has an inductive sensor so the robot controller knows when it is fully opened. If anything prevents the door from opening, the robot will alarm and not attempt to push a part through the door.
