This demonstration shows machining of internal gears with power skiving and CoroMill® 180. Power skiving is a continuous cutting process that enables machining to be carried out in a single setup. The possibility to machine the complete component in a multi-task machine or machining centre in one single set-up shortens production time, improves quality and reduces handling and logistics costs.

just like treads in a lathe, if the syncroniszation of the both the tool and the part isnt perfect betwen passes, its not the end of the world, because the next pass will remove on both front and back of the tooth. the speed on witch both turn can have some variation because the tooths have a desired gap. when everything is brand new, the process is quite straigh forward but when the machine starts to show age, any machining process that requires precision in every motion, isnt desirable

Amazing! Does anyone know how to calculate the rotation of the workpiece and tool's spindle in order to predict the spacing (pitch?) between each umm "Hit"? (I apologise for my lack of proper technological terminology, I am not native speaker)

If you only wanna understand how it works, you can try to imagine workpiece and cutting tool as paired-gears. If you wanna calculate it correctly, I suggest to read about "gear skiving", "power skiving" or "Wälzschälen". It's a funny process!

@@sandvikcoromant What can I do to avoid insert edge chipping in a skiving operation? I've already tried using a tougher grade, sharp geometry combination. Vc is 184, feed rate is 0.7 mm/rev. PCD is 198, no. Of slots on workpiece is 72, no. Of inserts in cutter is 42. Also how does one calculate Vc in skiving ?

what's the recommended cutting depth in rough cut and in finish cut?
@sandvikcoromant
@sandvikcoromant 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Apologies for the late reply! There are several passes (cuts) to make and complete a profile. The deeper the profile, the more passes. If the profile is only around 1 mm deep, I would say 2 to 3 passes. Where the final pass has a depth of cut approx. 0.1 mm and the feed less to gain the best possible measurement result. The case we show in the video is a module 4 mm Gear profile (9 mm deep profile). We use totally 20 passes together at very high speed. We find the demo more impressive at higher speed. It is also possible to use some 10 to 12 passes for this gear but then at lower speed (Vc). We calculate for each customer case "Start cutting data" with a suitable combination of number of passes, speed and feed. Best regards, Sture Sjöö - Senior Special Tool Designer

@gredangeo
@gredangeo 6 жыл бұрын
Lol. You could attempt Fusion360 to do this, but it will require a lot of lying to it. Fusion is not going to know what you're really doing with the code. As long as your machine is capable of syncing the rpm of both the spindle and table, the rest almost looks like straightforward facemill plungemilling tactics.

that's easy. The society as a whole has a more equitable income distribution. The top end earns way less and it pays for part of the the benefits you just described. The other part comes from a higher tax load, but in the case of the Nordic nations, the taxpayers get it back in benefits. Not saying that it's right or wrong, just describing how they balance the books. I'm definitely not into debating the "rights" and "wrongs" of these policies on the internet. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
