It's nice to see that the old ways are not lost to history.

37:30 anyone hammering on equipment like that in the civilised world would be sacked on the spot. Here, they all do it.

At 33:53 very clever! His wrench was too big so he placed a bolt in the gap to make it work! I’ve never seen that, but I like it

Guys wearing sandals, machining a casting that barely qualifies as metal, using shady "cutters" without coolant or lube on pre-war British, and American made equipment using a carpenters "square" a tape measure, and a stick for measurement. This shop might have actually had a concrete floor though. It wouldn't take more than a couple hundred $ worth of measuring equipment and cutting tools to make parts that actually last, and fit properly.... Worst part is that the repair won't last, between the poor fit, and the amount of dirt and debris that got into the bearing.

@29:09 yea, you can't run carbide in that planer if it doesn't have the auto return lifter. No surprise he switched to HSS. Though I think that is the least of all concerns here.

very safety minded, they are! they even do not put oil on any of the machinery as that would constitute a slipping hazard to the workers...
