Against all common sense I just ordered a little chunk of Lignum to help make a bearing assembly for a Murphy bed. So nervous to get it right the first time! Thanks for uploading the only slightly relevant video on KZfaq.

sounds like a neat project! lignum is pretty forgiving, don't sweat it too much.

Lignum vitae is a species of wood that is very oily. I was often used as bearing material for propeller axles and the like.

It is such slippery and dense stuff, I can see why! Makes the apartment smell like swampy rainforest for a week though.

i know this is an older video. but i was wondering what motor and controller you're using on your taig to get it to go so slow for wood turning.

a chinese brushless 'servo' sewing machine motor. About 100 usd. Would guess spindle range is about 80-800 rpm
