You truly are a master of many crafts. It has been a pleasure to watch your videos and see how you organize your tools, i'm sure it helps people with ideas and different ways to organize and access their tools. Please play no attention to any trolls who are ungrateful and immature viewers. Understand that this is the Internet and many will have no weight to their comments, Smell and taste can always be argued but one cannot argue facts. The fact is one can only hope to get to your level of diligence, patients and workman ship. Please continue making videos and pay no mind to anyone being cruel or negative and I look forward to seeing your future videos

Love your videos, you are an excellent teacher and thanks for the look into your toolboxes. I too love tools and add to my collection whenever something useful shows up. You have also inspired me to finish the refurbishment of my old Myford lathe and get my workshop set up at last. Been meaning to get into model engineering ever since I left school and now I'm retired I now know what I really want to do with my spare time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Thank you, for your machinist toolbox tour! It's really scary how much stuff someone else can have that's exactly like your stuff! When you mentioned Boston Gears, I remembered that I have a diametrical pitch gear gauge set somewhere. Found it after an hour's search! LOL! I find it necessary to do an occasional inventory to remind me just what I have!

I love the brutal honesty of what very well may happen to a lot of us and our tools, any real tool junky owns more tools with someone elses name on them other than his own, and loves the thrill of finding a good tool at a fair price, and giving it a good home and enjoying it even if its only looked at with hopes of one day possibly needing it. great video thank you.

Thanks for the small tour of a machinist's tool box!! You always hope that you have the tools on hand to accomplish the next job, but that is seldom the case and so you have to acquire that next tool. Thank you again Mr pete, really enjoyed the toolbox tour and commentary, it helps a lot to hear what an experienced machinist has to say about any given item. I must say I am really looking forward to seeing your presentation on files. I have just started using files a lot to file clock parts, and would love to hear what you have to say on the matter. It is very satisfying using a file on metal, a real pleasure. Thank you again.

Thank you Mr. Pete for sharing :)

Ignore those idiots who criticize you for too many tools. I have a collection similar to yours (the same but very different) and I treasure every one. Anyone who doesn't understand the value of such tooling has no clue about real values in life. The satisfaction derived from a home machine shop cannot be described to such empty heads. Keep up your most valuable and generous efforts. They are appreciated more than you know. I am on many Yahoo machining sites and your series is always mentioned

Watching you go through your tool box reminds me that having what you need doesn't lead directly to being able to use it. First you have to find it. The current job use to dictate most of my working tools. As an apprentice die maker I spent days with the little hones that you showed. Frank Printke taught me most of my die making knowledge. He felt that polishing draw dies was a good starting point. It did teach patience and regard for the tools. One ham handed setup person could wipe out a days work in a heartbeat. Eventually I was introduced to files, then power tools. The sequence brought me from the slowest process up to the fastest. It highlighted how the speed of the process increased the damage an error caused. 😆

It's a fact for us tool nuts; Ya just can't have enough stuff. But we're no different than anyone else that has a passion for what they do, it's just that ours has the tendency to cost more and therefore worth more. If we manage to place what we use in a dedicated tool box(s) and the rest in safe storage, it frees up a lot of room in the shop. Thanks for sharing a bit of your collection with us mortals. Almost anyone getting this close to another persons tools will be joining the "Long Dead" forthwith. JD

Great vid! I enjoyed that far more than I believed I would! I have no room to talk because my boxes are in desperate need of organizing but some of your drawers look like you could combine items and have a better idea where things are! Also, I bought a Brother label maker a while back and used it to label my drawers contents (not all of them yet) it may not be manly to do that but with labels I can glance and see what drawer has what without doing the drawer shuffle I used to do!

Well I side with the fellows who say ignore the naysayers. For one thing, though you may not have used the word, you are a collector. Now, who can criticize a collector? Furthermore you also use your collection for work and teaching, that most noble of pursuits. And I both benefit from your teaching, and share it with others. Your machine shop talk takes me back to high school. I wish that I could talk to my shop teacher and tell him how much of his teaching has stuck with me. He has benefited my life. He would be surprised because I was a knucklehead back then. But I think he would be pleased what has stuck with me. And at least an appreciation for the skills I did not acquire. Books? The value of multiple books on the same or similar topics is that different editions or authors don't all cover the same material, or cover it the same way. And many of us want the additional information. I am quite taken by tap & die work. And I know more than the average guy about that work. But I learned even more about dies in your tool box tour. And I thank you. Next I enjoyed your overview of your vises, big and small. I want to find that video again because I have a young fellow who wants to see it. It fits several of his interests. So, thanks again. You are very valuable to many of us.

Great series on the tool box. It saddened me to hear you let the KZfaq trolls get to you; though I understand; I've had a couple on my channel. The first one really upset me. I really enjoyed you sharing your tool box with the viewers. Being a complete neophyte to machining, It would appear a separate building is required to support the use of a lathe and probably another building required to support milling tools. I recently acquired a Craftsman 6" lathe; that came with a box of tooling and misc other stuff. I was chuffed to learn I did get my first Starrett tools - a thread pitch guage and two feeler gauges. I guess a person has to start somewhere. So many questions and not enough answers. :/ Thank you for the videos!

MrPete....When you are speaking of the Heinmann Transfer screws, they are made about 5 miles from e in Urbana, Ohio. Also, I know you have heard of Desmond_Stephans. They made vises years back, sold out to Ridgid Tool, but Desmond still makes Grinder dressers, for the wheels on bench vises. Both have been in business for years. And don't worry about people talking about people collecting tools. They have no idea what sort of passion runs through a Toolmakers blood. Once a person becomes a Toolmaker, the passion for different and unique tools comes with the title.
