don't do it while exercising, we were meant to mouth breath during workouts, at night is fine and I do it too, but during training/high intensity exercises we are designed/supposed to breath through mouth and nose, if you prevent that there might be consequences

@@Patricia-lz2zo yes, I 've read it on books on the parasympathetic/sympathetic nervous system states, But I was on a reading spring on this topic I don't remember exactly which book, I think it was stephen porges's book or stanley Rosenberg or peter levine.. one of these, to put it simply when we exercise it's a "simulated" controlled fight or flight response, think about a champions league final, those players will give 100% of what they have so they'll take their bodies to the extreme, in that case it's a controlled state of fight or flight, a healthy one because it's not life or death you're not being chased by a tiger, so you want to stay in this healthy flight or flight, you don't wanna suppress it by breathing through your nose only, so this is actually the natural way of how our physiology is supposed to work when under these scenarios when you're meditating or sleeping yeah, it's the opposite, this is the rest and digest state, slow, long inhale and exhale, 100% through the nose

I’m old now , but when I was a teenager I really hated the dribble on the pillow…so I trained myself to sleep with my mouth closed . Every time I woke up and it was open I would adjust my position so my mouth was most comfortable closed . Until today I never realised that was probably the reason for my improved circulation … which was great . Thank you for the information.

If you leave it on after waking you won't get into arguments or start negative conversations either. Great Video and thanks for all the past ones Doc. Nice to see and hear honesty in medicine today.

We did a Butekyo technique training course a number of years ago with my son who had mild asthma and discovered he was a nose breather. Did the recommended exercises with him at the time and also taped at night for two weeks. He switched to breathing through his nose and his asthma improved so that he didn’t need an inhaler anymore. My GP was really skeptical but I always recommend giving this a go. I was very anxious about the tapping but he saw it as a game and it really worked. Nice to see a doctor review the method,

I am 48 years old and for the past 3 years, I have been getting up to pee AT LEAST 3 times a night. I tried taping my mouth last night and I only had to get up to pee one time. My nasal passages are very narrow, I think from allergies. I noticed today that my nasal passages are more open. I did have trouble last night during my first go at taping my mouth. At around 1am, I woke up and felt like I wasn't getting enough oxygen so I took the tape off and went back to sleep. Then I woke up again around 3am and tried the tape again. I slept the rest of the morning without any issues. For tape, I just used some 3M painters tape that I had around the house and put it on horizontally.

A few things - when I was first using the cpap (nasal device, not full mask) the air would go in my nose and out my mouth. I tried a couple of the straps, but they would sometimes let my mouth open. I now use the 3m transpore tape, it's easy to remove, just wet it with your tongue.

I have difficulty breathing through my nose due to a deviated septum. I use a Breathe Right strip to hold my nose open at night and this works very well for me. I can breathe through my nose at night and for sure I can say it transforms my sleep quality. I actually use just half a strip (cut in the middle along its length) and the sensitive version is recommended if you are using it every night.

Don’t worry about spelling typos. Besides your incredible knowledge about the topics you discuss, you also possess excellent knowledge of English grammar. It’s extremely rare to hear Americans say “lying down” or “lie” instead of lay when talking about body position. The verb “lie” is so misused. Many do not know the difference between two applications of lie vs lay, body position vs placing or laying an object down. Just a little observation. As a foreigner myself, I can’t help but notice poor English grammar knowledge. Besides, thank you for acknowledging Dr. Buteiko, Ukrainian doctor, who originated the breathing therapy for reversing asthma, COPD, in former USSR patients. I’m Ukrainian myself and back there, I remember Dr. Buteiko’s great success. I also tape my mouth nightly having discovered all the health benefits. Thank you, Dr. Sung! Excellent videos! 🙏👍🤗😘

If you want to try out lip taping, please do it the easy way. First, take a band aid and cut off 1/2 the tape. Apply vertically across lips. Two, notice you can breath through the side of your month. Wear about the house and note if you are comfortable breathing through the nose. If yes, give it a try at night. Note, the tape is to inform you if you breath through the mouth, NOT to prevent it entirely. If have been doing this for over a year using a 1/8" wide strip. I know it works because at night my saliva will dry on my lips and seal them. Why is a thin strip better? The band aid adhesive can irritate skin, a thin tape can be moved around easily. At any rate give it a try, what do you have to lose?

Been doing mouth taping with just a 1 inch piece of nexie care sensitive paper tape works perfectly between my lips right under my nose that's all I need. I found this out through James nesters book The Lost art of breathing which I highly recommend. Benefits for me have been less getting up in the night to use the bathroom my mouth isn't so dry in the morning. My dental checkups have been much better as my gums and teeth are healthier. I will continue with this practice. Hope that helped. One other piece of advice I got from James Nestor which by the way he has several videos here on KZfaq about mouth taping, was when you're ready to take the 1 inch piece of tape off run your tongue back and forth like a windshield wiper movement as you take your other hand to loosen up the tape and that gets up all the adhesive and it doesn't hurt at all to do it that way so just using your tongue against your lips to kind of go back and forth to loosen up the tape

I taped my mouth for the first time last night and when I woke up this morning I was blown away! 1. I sleep on my right and ALWAYS switch to my left side during the night (and adjust pillows, etc.) but I didn't switch or toss and turn last night -- never moved an inch. 2. I nearly always need to use the bathroom during the night but not last night. 3. My breath actually felt a bit fresher this morning. It was the best sleep I've had in a long time and will continue to do this.

Want to do a full month #1: I tape my mouth horizontally, no slit in the middle: necessary? advisable? He'd say get the Pfizer medicated tape. It's $4000 a piece and will also prevent COVID if you have 3 masks on while driving.

I tape my wife's mouth shut at night and am thinking about doing it in the day time as well. I now sleep a lot better.

In terms of study’s…. they are far and few between. In other words this video is anecdotal at best. The latest fad today will be thrown out the window and replaced with the next fad in a couple years. What a load of 💩

Anecdotal evidence has some value and should not be ignored. I've been taping for years - no more snoring, sleep through the night, wake up refreshed, no sore throat or dry mouth. These were serious issues I had that are now gone. A simple piece of tape. Not really a fad.

Studies are anecdotal in nature. Call it a fad, but if it works, it works.

This taping is dangerous. You might not be able to breathe while you sleep. I think that if the heart is healthy, it helps us sleep. So, take care to have a healthy heart by eating lot of potassium food. 4700 mg of potassium daily, equal to 2 big bowls of salad a day. Before bed, ask for forgiveness ( in your mind) from people whom you hurt and forgive those who hurt you. Send blessings to you and to all. Pray for you, your family and even to those who hurt you. Friends, you will feel love and happiness and peace in your mind and heart . You will sleep like a baby. You can repent even in the daytime. Check your thoughts every moment and repent if they are negative. Thinking right is the best medicine. Obey God, Jesus, Buddha are the key to right thinking, to happiness.

Buddha is NOT to be worshipped!! The Lord Jesus Christ is the ONLY Savior of this Lord, please come to Him!!

You do not seal up you mouth so you cannot breathe. The idea is to use the tape as an aid to keep your mouth closed while you re-train your brain to breathe through the nose. The taping improves heart health as you re-learn abdominal breathing. I just use a small strip (vertical) so the mouth is not completely blocked.

Why argue about my God is the only God? Respect all religion is first step to be polite , a good quality God want . All religions are created by people not by God .

@@mnayak9348 Christianity is NOT a religion. Religion is man's feeble attempt to reach God by being the very best he can be. Christianity is God reaching down to man to lift him up because man is helpless to be good enough for God's standard of perfection. This is called GRACE. (For by grace are we saved through faith and not of ourselves...it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8)
