Anything by Steve Miller is an instant time machine. Flashbacks to where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing. Timeless music. To this day, I firmly believe we were blessed to have grown up in this era of music. Given the play time many of the late 60's and most of the 70's music gets today, and how it connects with everyone, regardless of age is a testament to this.

Steve’s music is so unique…he blends Texas blues with San Francisco hippie rock….very talented and why I think he speaks to so many with his sound.

Steve Miller is one of the very best live performers there is. I saw him 5 times in the 70's starting in 71 and was never disappointed. A great time was had by all!

I saw him so many times in San Francisco (Winterland and Filmore) that I've lost count. Most times, it was Friday and Saturday night same venue. Not once was there even a hint that he was just phoning it in. Go see him in concert and you'll have a really good time. A REALLY good time. Whatever the price of the ticket, it's money well spent.

My dad has been telling the same story since i was a kid he says when the 80s hit everyone said rocknroll was dead because of all the techno garbage. Then people got sick of terrible 80s songs and this record hit #1 and stayed there for weeks. I know it's a long shot but a small part of me wishes that rock would make a re appearance in the mainstream. I'm completely sick of rap music and fake thugs.

In the mid 70's i was 17 and heard for the first time ''Rock n' me'' in a Club here in Luxembourg and at the time,this was the place to be for good music and not just the Standard-Discosound.I was fascinated by this song and buyed the Album immediately and after this time i stay until today a real SteveMiller Fan.He is a fantastic Songwriter,Guitarplayer and also stay humbe and smart. The first Steve Miller song was FLAE when it first came out and I had to buy the album. Then I wound up buying every new one as soon as it came out.

Everyone I know had that album. It was & "is" that great! The use of the synth's was a brilliant move for those intro's. Especially since most of us were doing psychedelics back then.

And I'm STILL speaking of the pompetous of love.

Just saw him on Tuesday night. Never saw him before. Realized two things, He had the best sounding Strat that I have ever heard. He also has a really cool sounding voice live. Can't put my finger on it but he just sounds so great live.

As a songwriter I've come to admire Steve if for nothing else because he is one of the few geniuses who had the presence of mind to craft pop tunes with authentic musical roots.

I have been a fan of The Steve Miller Band when Sailor,Brave Nrw World came out.A rock n roller,roller..except he's your average guy He's made some right choices. He asked Paul McCartney once how do you write song after song and make it work.He had writers block. Sir Paul gave him some easy going advice and ran with it.I had read this in a interview with him.Keep on Rockin..baby...

Steve Miller always seemed kind of eccentric and out there for some reason - just because I grew up as a young man on his music in my parents station wagon and as a musician myself long before we had youtube and we just didn't "see" him like we can now and I think just the era I had him in with zappa and such (it would not have taken me 30 years to get good on guitar either had we had youtube - we were poor and I could never get lessons - I hope young musicians today appreciate what they have at their fingertips) . Anyway, my 2 cents........great little documentary I wish it was much longer though and I really see Miller as such a down to earth guy who appreciates how good music has been to him and he to it. Just cool. Nice guy who treats the host very respectfully. You can tell he still gets excited talking "music" and I find that so cool.

I was at this shoot and hung out with Steve for an hour or so on his property in the San Juan Islands. We actually played guitars together. He let me pick up one of his Martin's that had the nature painting finish. I started playing some blues stuff and that's all it took. Steve's a real blues enthusiast and yes...he's a megalomaniac but hey...he's Steve Miller and he puts his money where his mouth is and there's a whole lotta both! See...I grew up on Steve Miller albums so it never gets old to me. Some tracks I like better than others but basically there's very little wrong he can do in my world.

Steve Miller's parents were Best Man and Matron of Honor at the wedding of Les Paul and Mary Ford. Les was Steve's godfather and gave him his first guitar lessons.

I was a Steve Miller Band fan in my early teens I played guitar since I was 8 years old and wS very sheltered playing in church groups Ironically I played rhythm guitar in a blue grass band with my older big brothers from church so when one if my 2st rock band experienced was Steve Miller smoking Bing hits in Highschool in my buddies van ditching class sort of sent my young nieve behind down a path that I was determined to find out more about I could no longer agree to fallow the family rules, I liked girls a lot and beer and weed contributed to me being happier and free, so when pops asked me after getting into trouble once again could I fallow the rules he was sincere as was I saying Dad I dint believe I can fallow the rules he tossed my ass out the front door by my hair. Needless to say boy was that a scary moment that gave me the freedom I was seeking in my young life. Yippy I was off and partying NY my own rules which I did have I experienced plenty thiscwoupd be 1976 and all kind of music opened up but Steve Miller was continuing to bring out great songs and was part of my young life's 3xperoence from the beginning as a sheltered church kid my eyes became opened to lots of fun times. Girls dancing parties e6c.. that's what I lived for at that time, being born in 1960 watching the 60's happen all around driving to church from Arvada to Diwn Town Denver, I grew up watch hippy vans lined up for miles from all over the country with pretty girls wearing halter tops as I'm heading the opposite direction at like 9 years old thinking wow those people are having lots if fun and look at those pretty girl's that was my hidden desires already developing as Sunday morning seeing this week after week just volumes if teenagers freewilling life as my choke hold got tighter and tighter freedom was the freewill in action once I bravely faced defiance at home and knew that would never be tolerated it may have been very selfish of me not aware of how it would effect my family my younger skaters one become Mrs Goody 2 shoes the other my baby sister idolized me and followed my footsteps that I have regrets about she passed away at 40 after chasing her own darkside full on no stopping that girl I miss her a great deal we were good friends and yes ai kicked many boys assets over that little trouble maker but I love her a great deal my crazy period didn't last as long as hers I went in the NAVY at 19 yea it's was just as crazy if not more and even after till the mid 80's but I was able to appear respectsbleeven while I did as ai pleased without being to obvious I have tried everything and Dine everything a young man could possible do maintained my basic moral compassion I liked nice girls which actually probably saved me more thrn anything else I mean nice girls too to this day it's my real steady reason I have maintained a certain sensibility as I do as I please ya know what I mean? Thank You Steve Miller I listen often to his music to this day I sing and play along to my favorite tunes it's awesome fly like sn Eagle is a prophetic song about the times we l8ve right now in my humble opinion never dud zi think I would see this come to pass the way it has

Great doco. Great to hear the evolution of songs from basic ideas. Not many artists would expose themselves in this way . As a songwriter it inspires me to keep trying.

Similar to the career of Bob Seger, Steve was also seeking a commercial break, but, his best music was arguably, the more adventurous earlier material: “Children of the Future” and “Sailor”, especially, are masterpieces.

Steve Miller lived in the present like many artists reflect upon. Most will look back in time and say they should have done this or that...Miller did that in the NOW by getting artistic control and taking time off after a hit record. Nobody did this...they all felt the pressure to keep going because the record company called the shots, then burn out. Miller is very ZEN

When I was in high school, the audio-visual club was allowed to play popular music on the intercom system before classes started. I recall with not much fondness having to listen to Fly Like An Eagle every morning whether I wanted to or not. And then after school I always accepted a ride from a friend who had a red 1965 Mustang and I'd have to endure the song blasted at full volume with Jensen Triax speakers pointing at my head. These are the images and memories that pop into my head every time I hear the opening licks to Fly Like An Eagle. After all these years... I think I'm finally getting to like the song, maybe not so much for the melody and rhythm and the meaning of the lyrics, but just because of where it takes me back to.

Well these days.........especially now SAN Francisco must be full of gothic characters.......it usto be Brandon Lee as the character of "The Crow" which these days I think series like Underworld with actor Micheal Sheen are pretty right on for these times.
