Maco has always manufactured good antennaes. Both owners of maco past and present have done a good job.

I am using a V 5000 and the 827 I find they work both the same except one can handle more power then the other great antennas!!!I am using LMR 600 ultra flex each coax is 75 feet long to the radio 1.2 on swr with amps on

M&P hyperflex is the bomb. I've got an 85 foot run of it and love it. Much quieter and rx and tx are stronger as well with the difference in loss from the RG8X.

No it will not A 5/8 `s wav is a 5/8 `s the length of the antenna dictates the gain they all have the same gain. The 827 is just as good and you will see a small change because of the lobes and nulls in the pattern in certain directions but that`s all.and if you get that in the air the swr will change due only to the ground location how far it is off the ground it will need to be adjusted length wise. nothing around you wil change it except the height off the ground and no after 4 elements its not worth it to add more.

Make sure your ring is on right,I think it's supposed to go up to right while looking at it a good swr meter is fine

You need to consider trying Belden COAX . I can tell you the 2 models I have been using for over 20 years. Have I go look at the numbers.

What you really need is some RG-213, a balun and a hairpin match to make that thing right !! 🤣🤣🤣

Some have to put silicone caulk on the V5000 wire to prevent it from getting wet and raising the SWRs extremely high.

Now they work but I prefure a vertical matching network ..no coil no horizontal matching coil or ring . Example... The SPT500 or other networks ... Vertical networks produce less loss more current at feed point better gain...

I had high swr on my v5000 with a cobra 29. Put it on a Lincoln 2+ and it’s 1.1. Idfnk what I did now lol 73’s

I had an acvanti sigma 5/8 wave and the new maco is lighter not as heavy duty as 70"s antenna . My Maco gets wet swr goes up opposite of other antennas? 1# It was that stupid braid strap to ring replace it with coated Romex copper wire . But the ring needs to go . I had a 70"s copy of Ringo 11m groundplane it's ring aas replaced with a copper coil tapped 1.5 at 26.0 & 1.5 at 28.700 that's what the V 5/8 should do if yiu get rid ring well I'll experiment in summer 24 with it . Cause SWR is good for only 20- & 20+ channels so that's less bandwidth than A99 ? All antennas should work 26.505 to 27.855 without tuner ya Hey good older video makd more on the progress
