MACROSS DELTA had two movies: Passionate Walkure and Absolute Live. By removing certain elements and rearranging others, Passionate Walkure managed to solve most of problems that I had with the series. As for Zettai live, I can definitely say that the whole Macross Delta experience got infinitely better with that movie. In fact I'll dare and say that Zettai Live is everything that I expected from Delta delivered in a super fascinating movie.
So my friends, I'm Absa, and in this video I'm going to talk briefly about the best changes that happened in Passionate Walkure and explore what made Absolute Live a marvelous movie.

Also "I'm no longer a captain, I'm just...A GENIUS!" Was such a perfect line for Max. And that scene was great. It would have been better if the VF-19 Kai appeared from a space fold booster and Basera shouted "You owe me one for this, old man!" Then busted into Holy Lonely Light... But we can't have everything we want lol

Ohhh my friend, that would've been amazing! Basara is my favorite singer of all the Macross Idols and he alone would've crushed Yami-Q-Ray with Holy Lonely Night. But yeah, Walkure would lose their job if Basara was around so no Anima Spiritia for us hahaha.

I have to say Macross Zettai Live manage to redeemed Delta saga, and plus personally Max appearance, his YF-29 Durandal and the enemy SV-303 Vivastat makes the movie very interesting.

I feel the Megaroad won't return in the next series and it won't be until the 50th anniversary that it's fully revealed which could also be the end of Macross or at least Kawamori's involvement considering he will then be over 70. It would be the perfect way for him to end it.

Thank you for a very nice and fair and detailed review ❤ I do believe that perhaps Lady M does not mean the vessel Megaroad-01.. I do think that perhaps it could be Lady M for Misa Hayase or even Minmay.. but it could also be a unifying acronym for their partnership.. Seeing how Misa’s strategic and military intellect combined together with Minmay’s knowledge of how songs can enhance fighting prowess, can be a very formidable force… and I feel Megaroad-01 existence in the time-fold leads to so many possibilities like in the movie Interstellar… where time is no longer a factor.. perhaps that is why Bandai released a Hi-Metal R toy of Roy Fokker’s VF-4G Lightning III… even though he has supposedly already passed away… it could be Megaroad-01 has crossed space and dimensions to an alternate universe where Roy Fokker had never died and continues to be a wonderful ace pilot.. I love Macross right from the very beginning… Macross Forever ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

So glad I decided to buy the official Blu Ray version of this release as it comes with subtitles 😁 ended up watching it literally during the New Year passage into this year and it deffo was one of the most epic Macross movies to come out for a while 🙏 A shame we didn't see any Fire Bomber cameos this time but seeing Max return was awesome, the Yami_Q_Ray group was a sick idea (very reminiscent of Sharon Apple) just wished they had more songs but either way, I'm stoked for what's to come in the future of Macross. Walkure & Freyja forever 🙏🍎

Pretty good review. I too had problems with Delta at first but gradually liked the series but the movies allowed for the same effect as what Kawamori-san did for the Macross with Do you remember love organizing and simplifying the story line and sequence. We are fortunate that the creator of the franchise is still around and still developing the story. I for one am looking forward to the next instalment after the Labyrinth of Time.

Another great vid, Abhsa. Sorry it took so long for me to get to it. As usual, I completely agree with everything you said. I'm so excited to see what Kawamori has planned for the 50th in 8.5 years. He's been planning for it since Frontier in 2007. Remember Richard Birler? Pretty sure that was the first hint of what's to come for the 50th. Zettai Live!!!!! only served to cement my hypothesis that the 50th anniversary is going to bring all the threads in the tapestry together. Also, an interesting thing to remember is the time dilation which occurs in space fold. If one does the math from what was established in SDF Macross, only 10 years has passed for the Megaroad-01 since the vessel disappeared in 2016.

With conclusion of Hathaway's Flash, Bandai will run out of the last truly UC story. Even if they tried to make another new UC story like Unicorn, Unicorn's legacy and the amount of retcon they had to do to fit that in makes me think Bandai knows better than to challenge it. Plus, Tomino basically passed the torch onto the next generation after G-Reco failed. I believe this is where Macross comes in. It's a real robot realer than Gundam, and made by someone who joined the industry thanks to the original Gundam, so there are some similarities, and the same ingredients for success. Importantly, Kawamori is still writing sequels to the original timeline, and it seems with this movie's revelation of Megaroad, we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg to come. It would certainly give Bandai an already established franchise to grow, instead of all their new mecha projects that failed like Valvrave or AMAIM. Macross Plus recently had a limited screening in Korea, and with Harmony Gold's evil clutches slowly waning, I believe soon, Macross will have a great opportunity to go global like Gundam. It's a miracle how Macross managed to survive so long, but I hope the golden age of Macross is ahead of us.

The whole movie was a blast to watch and got to love the set up from the TV series and first movie was completed even if it made people sad. The whole movie was from my point was straight up action space battles from the beginning to end of the movie. And with the new set up of the enemies will for sure and has already sent a ripple effect through out the NUN'S territory and future for humanity, Lady M has F/messed around and now is seeing the consequences and ripple effects of their actions. Cannot wait for the next Macross story and it's world and how it has been affected by Zettai Live's ending. Cornwell did a great job in exposing the NUN'S and Lady M I wonder how the other territories especially ones that have not been in too much of an agreement with the NUN'S will do. Also the set up with Labyrinth of Time I think the world of Macross is about to enter the new age of super long distance fold technology to be able to ftl jump from one Galaxy to another whole Galaxy. From what I see there is going to be crazy future for Macross with future conflicts and technology. That being said Zettai Live can just be part of the TV series if your ok with interpreting/ merging both the TV series and second movie together in your own head canon, taking out some characters that died from the TV series and putting it into the Zettai Live movie. It will still make sense and won't conflict with the story of Zettai Live and in my mind it makes more sense too as the first movie was just a mega recap in sorts.

Geez, you review this one. I have watched it, but seems to be mysterious about Megaroad 1's history from 2016 to 2068 and Battle Astrea, the mysterious New Macross Class same as Frontier, 7 and Galaxy, which came out being fresh-modified but at the cost of relying most of the macross to AI. I want to watch again. And I just hate when someone or somebody from Windermere has to die again

Next story... Max finds the SDF2, and the reunited heroes of the SDF1 save the Galaxy from a new threat, a massive hidden Supervision army. Introducing the VF33 and 34. Sprinkle in a discovery of Protoculture survivors and about 2 hours of mythology answers. After that, I would have no more reason to live.😂

@TheRibbonRed
@TheRibbonRed Жыл бұрын
Despite that statement personally coming from Shoji Kawamori + him wanting everything to be in its own canon so people wouldn't fight...I'd say Passionate Walkure is the first departure from that formula. Over 80% of Passionate Walkure were cut off straight from the TV series. This is not a DYRL or False Songstress situation where the story went completely new midway, and they had to make new things then. Passionate Walkure was more like changing Max & Milia Final Battle forms from miclones in valks to Zentraedi-Meltrandi couple (which happened in DYRL), but then to only cut the bad animation & filler parts of OG SDF & repack that as a movie. That's it.

Back then People love Macross Delta when it was released because of waifu + mech + love triangle but the community after watching the 8-10th becomes unsatisfied with the development of MC and her Girls and also they killed the MC's bff pilot leaving the bff pilot's GF in despair plus the story is So Lack in information and background stories and leaves you With Questions. I wish they manage to Solve it here in their comeback because the Anime series are So Better in Graphics + mech + the characters it's just the story piss you off.

I HATED the first movie. It felt butchered and the constant reuse of existing footage made it feel cheap. But then I loved the original series and missed all of the quiet moments and side characters. And I loved Mirage and felt like the original triangle was going to work out with mirage waiting until after Freya was gone, with the both of them supporting Freya for the time she had left. I loved Zettai Live though. Though the very end felt weird and a little creepy I never really thought of the first movie as a chance to reframe the story though. I may have been uncharitable to it though.

I think that the movie-verse works a little bit better at delivering the overall WIndermerian war and move the Macross Chronology forward. The series does shine the best when talking about the character dynamics, at least the main protagonists and antagonists.
@TheRibbonRed
@TheRibbonRed Жыл бұрын
Nah, Macross Love Triangles were far better than how the TV Series treated Mirage. Zettai Live saved her character from that bad writing while still giving clear concise reasons why (even managed to tie it to her uncertainty). Passionate Walkure in itself is still about as bad as the TV, but it did a lot of thing better: Cutting off the Windermerean Apple Red Herring, deleting the "Walkure are also spies" (how can you be spies when you're galaxy-famous?) bit that got them captured, erasing Berger Stone completely (he was treated badly by Xaos despite being their only lead), and giving Messer the whole movie to grow his character than just the 3 episodes, among other things... Passionate Walkure cut off the confusing mess so Zettai Live could've been what it is today. I'd recommend Passionate Walkure over TV any day. Though my true recommendation is to tell people what happened in Passionate Walkure & then tell them to watch Zettai Live. This movie is simply the best Delta could've given.

Absolute Live was good but at the same time a very underwhelming conclusion regarding the whole Megaroad 1 plot. I would've preferred either you show it or you don't, but teasing it really brings the film down and shows Kawamori as a coward regarding his intentions with the original legacy characters following Flashback 2012.
@brandoneverett3418

Delta was a disappointment for me TBH. It went too far into girl idol group territory, and the Windermerean plot was a little too heavy in some area and ended up making them look like space-Nazi's. Although the latter was tolerable. Frontier handled the songstress/singing aspect far better IMHO. Not to mention I felt Mirage would have been the better partner for Isamu and could have easily been written in as a surrogate or step-mother for the kid at the end of the movie.
