The One and Only Michael McCormick His existence is that of no worries. All he must do is play. Rock the land with his sound, and if the land will not go to him to rock, he will go to it, by any means necessary.

+The One and Only Michael McCormick actually he does have a purpose. he's the drummer boy. he plays the guitar to relay commands from Immortan Joe, just as drummer boys did in times such as the American Revolution or the civil war. he also has the secondary purpose of keeping the war boys hyped up, adrenaline pumping, ready to go to their deaths

Eh... I don't dissgree but sometimes that's just the case. Bes example being the Star Wars-prequels: People that love them can still spend a long time, maybe even 27 minutes and 10 seconds, pointing iut their flaws. It's the difference between hating something and criticising something. Granted, he does both but people fo so too.

+IAN 4000 Another part I really liked was the very fact that they showed a bunch of shit and made no attempt to explain it. For example: Why was there a huge and incredibly ineffective music car? How that insanely idiotic system came to be? What the fuck are 'bullet farm' and 'gas town'? How do they get all those materials? Why not got to the sea and use distillation or reverse osmosis to get water? Why was Max mad as a kite? Etc. There were a lot of things that weren't explained and there was no attempt made. But in a certain way it made the characters and world more believable. Sure some of those things don't make much sense, but the real world often isn't logical. And to the characters a lot of those things would be normal, so a character explaining it would be weird. To me those aspects of mystery, irrationality and legend is what I would expect in a post-apocalyptic world.

Because the movie gives you clues to deduce them: - Because party wars in the old time use music to encourage your warriors, and this insinuates that civilization fallen back to those times. - bullet farm is industrial zone of guns and bullets factories and gas town an oil zone. - working and scraping, surely - Because humanity loves settle himself in inhospitable places, aka deserts, artics... even are people who wants to live in mars, knowing that there is no water or food. - Because there are not rollercoasters... Can we move on?

When NC is saying how “nothing is explained”, two of the things he brings up are actually hinted at in the film. It was hinted that the people in the swamp were those left of Furiosa’s clan that remained in the “green place” and it’s blatantly stated who he hallucinates about. One of them says “why did you let us die” and if you listen closely, at some point I think the kid calls max “dad”

the doof warrior (Guitar Guy) serves as both a motivator for the War Boys and messenger to the others, which can be seen in the movie, when Immortan Joe uses him to tell the war boys what strategy will be used, like buglers and drummer boys for example. Delicate electronics, like radios built after the time vacuum tubes were outmoded, cannot stand EMP like the nukes would have released, and cant be fixed as easily as for example a car starter, which the road gangs, being car/bike lovers, could do.

Andy Fuss On the contrary 90% of the film's effects were practical; all the vehicles were real, the explosions were real, the stunts, the fighting, even the flamethrower guitar guy were all real. The sandstorm, Furiosa's metal arm, and some shots too dangerous were CGI. But that's only a small majority. Because of that, I'm grateful to have seen such an innovative film like this in my lifetime. But you don't like, it's fine.

Fury Road's biggest reason for success is context. Fury Road came out at a time where every action movie was boring and overly-reliant on CGI, so it was a breath of fresh air. Critic got it right: Fury Road is very good (I'd put it in my own top ten), but not the best film of all time. Also, didn't Critic's explanation of why Hardy was only 'serviceable' actually prove why he did a great job with the character?

+raiffmeister That's about right. What bothered me about this video isn't anything having to do with the Critic's opinion about Fury Road (or Thunderdome for that matter, although what the hell. I don't hate it or anything but it's past the bad kind of cheesy and Thunderdome isn't even in it that much). It's this part: "According to the critics, that technically means it's better than Pulp Fiction, Fargo, Jurassic Park, The Exorcist, Die Hard, Hunt for Red October, and every Indiana Jones movie." No it doesn't... not even close. Rotten Tomatoes scores represent the average of the reviews that could be collected at the time and assigned a positive or negative value. Fury Road has OVER 200 MORE REVIEWS than Jurassic Park, let alone The Exorcist, which right now has an 86% rating from 66 reviews. SPOOKY It's ridiculous to think of Rotten Tomatoes as a technical measure of how good a movie is compared to all other movies. It's an indicator of how any particular movie was received when it came out. And indeed, Fury Road was a breath of fresh air. It's a well-made action movie with heart. Critic's nitpicking of the aspects that don't make sense or aren't explained aside, it's that KIND of movie. General audiences find it compelling. Like Terminator 2, which it's "technically better than" too on Rotten Tomatoes but I wouldn't ever say is the inferior movie. And that's a fair comparison... this all isn't even considering how you seriously compare The Exorcist to How to Train Your Dragon. Fury Road was exactly what action cinema needed at exactly the right time, and that's what you see on its Rotten Tomatoes page.

So people kept sending me this video to criticise and I don't see anything here to criticise apart from pointing out Meninists don't actually exist and that there's some heathen saying Thunderdome was the best Mad Max movie. Are you crazy? And no, Fury Road was not better than The Road Warrior. It sounds like everyone is desperately trying to persuade themselves that Fury Road is a better film than it actually was just because it didn't suck. Admittedly given how dipshits like Michael Bay have buttfucked some of my favourite franchises I should probably be pleased that a modern film even achieved mediocrity.

"Look, any longer out on that road, and i become one of them. a terminal crazy. only I got a bronze badge to say I'm one of the good guys." just a few original Mad Max quotes. i believe the first movie was best as far as story goes, but hey, just my personal opinion. also, to a gearhead like me, the cars were the brilliance of the movie. the vehicles were insane but they all were real, functioning cars. every supercharger, every weapon, they were all detailed and wonderfully insane engineering masterpieces

true, the story in Mad Max was moving slow, but i believe it was trying to balance both story and chasing. and i agree on that in Beyond Thunderdome, and the movie was pretty good. but it wasn't as action-packed as the others and the good guys and bad guys weren't as well defined, which was a departure from the style of the first two movies (as well as Fury Road). the vehicles and chases took a backseat for most of the film which was unpopular for the gearheads.

For folks wondering about the timeline, *Fury Road is after Thunderdome:* The backstory of Glory the Child in the tie-in comics and how she became involved in Max's life. Some time before, she had been kidnapped by the Buzzards during a raid on a trading convoy, and her mother searched and searched for someone who could find her daughter and bring her back. After saving Max's life, he owed her a favor which was finding and returning Glory to her mother. After a harrowing excursion into the Sunken City, Max managed to both save Glory and retrieve his stolen V8 Interceptor. Unfortunately, the remaining pursuing Buzzard ran over both the mother and child, eerily re-enacting the deaths of Max's wife and child. Max killed the attacker and found the mother dead on the scene, while Glory was holding onto her last breath. Glory's last words to Max was to tell him to look after her mother, not knowing she was already dead. *This event arguably destroyed pretty much all the psychological development Max had undergone during the events of Beyond Thunderdome, resulting in him being the shell of a man he is in the opening of Fury Road.* Glory: You... came back. I knew... you would. Is... mamma all right? Max: She's fine. Glory: Look... after her... Max: I will.

I think the idea was that it happened after Thunderdome but here's the thing. Max would be around 55-60 years old if that were the case. This Max looks like he's in his early 30s. I don't think it's written in the script but I believe it's not Mel Max but the feral kid from The Road Warrior even though he narrated MM2 in an adult voice. I know he said at the end that Max was never seen again but there are so many references in Fury Road that support what I'm saying. For instance, the little music box. How did one of the wives get that? Mel gave that to the feral child in #2. Immortan Joe captured this Max and took his Interceptor to be modified and used but got destroyed in the chase after the War Rig. So, this theory would explain how the wife got the music box as a gift from Joe. The metal boomerang he took off the side of the truck in the blue scene. Same as the one the feral kid had in 2. Max never had a boomerang. The V8 Interceptor. Max's Interceptor was destroyed in 2. No car in 3 but he has one in Fury. Mel Max never grunted at all. Tom Max grunts through half the film like the feral kid. His possessive attitude. Mel Max lost his car, his dog, his dignity but didn't really care about possessions just survival. Tom Max was very possessive in Fury. There's a part where he runs but it was the same kind of movement like how the kid moved. In the 1st 3 films, Max was always clean shaved except in Thunderdome after he was banished from BarterTown. When he was retrieved by the kids from the plane crash, after he woke up, he shaved himself. Tom Max was scruffy. I think the feral kid went looking for Max after a while and found him dead or close to dead. Max was his hero as he spoke highly of Max as he told The Road Warrior story which the feral kid had named him that. Mel Max never referred to himself as the Road Warrior but in the opening scene of Fury, Tom Max does just that. The boy had no identity, no family or friends or purpose or name or idea where he came from. When he met Max, he was watching and studying him when he was reinforcing the car and made sure he stayed with him even after Max threw him out the car. Remember as well, Mel Max threw away the leather jacket with the shoulder pad in 2. I believe the kid found it and decided to adopt the legend of Mad Max. Moreover, Furiosa asked Max what should she call him and he looked at her like he didnt know what to tell her so he said what does it matter? He told her later while she laid unconscious or sleeping that his name was Max but there was like a pause and misdirection in his mannerism when he said it. Last thing, when Nux and Slit were arguing over who's gonna drive when they chase the War Rig, just before Slit asks Nux, how's your blood bag, Nux says mine is wild and FERAL. Out of all the words that could have been written in the script, why cjoose to say Feral to describe Max as his blood bag for it's not a common term to use? I don't think these things were necessarily intended but I don't believe in coincidences. Especially the kind of director George Miller is in which he likes to troll and not use a lot of dialog but instead make visual cinema to tell stories. But I could be wrong but it is an interesting theory with strong supporting evidence.

Meninists? You mean that performance piece wherein two guys decided to make fun of feminism by creating a satirical movement of men who act exactly like feminists, but then a bunch of not very perceptive people blew it way out of proportion because the joke went completely over their heads? Also, I assume what you're really referring to is the MRA backlash which never actually happened? Seeing as how the supposed backlash turned out to be just one guy. . . who wasn't an MRA. . . and was writting on a site known to be hostile to MRAs. . . Seriously Doug, this would have taken you five minutes of research. Instead it sounds like you got all your information on the subject from Jezebel.
@barrygormley3986

***** Yeah, and is it just me, or is that bias becoming more apparent recently? It seemed to start with his completely random joke about MRAs in Jupiter Ascending. Now I don't mind him making jokes about MRAs, but that one came completely out of nowhere and had litterally nothing to do with anything in the movie. Kind of like how this meninist bit has nothing to do with anything. . . at all.

And now, instead of admitting our mistake, we're just going to pretend like this was part of the joke, even though that would make the joke unnecessarily convoluted as well as a tad misleading for our audience. Btw, MRA's are idiots because we say so." Btw, I love you guys.

+Jeremy Moore You said it pal. And such a gross mischaracterisation too. Most of the MRAs I've encountered are actually trying to raise awareness of real issues, like the rate of male suicide or the lack of facilities available to male victims of domestic violence/sexual assault (issues that are mostly ignored or underplayed by feminists, even when they claim to be about helping both genders). They don't really have time to bitch about something as petty as the role given to a man in a Hollywood flick. Also, at least half the MRAs I've met have been women. Just sayin.

I'll say this much. As someone who despises modern day feminists, I loved this movie. But how can that happen when I hate feminism, right? Simple, unlike other movies that tried forcing this women empowerment message down my throat, this movie didn't. In the trailers it played off how bat shit insane it was going to be. Not "Hey look a woman as the main character! She's strong and she's powerful!", I don't care if a woman is the main character, and if she's strong. What I do hate is having that kind of stuff as the selling point and having it flashed in my face during trailers and in the movie, like The Other Woman from last year. And because Miller didn't do that I loved Furiosa and Max, both equally.
@GeneralTantzu

+AshXXMayftw With that statement you're actually showing what feminism is supposed to be. The movie lets the main male and female roles be on equal ground without shoving it down your throat like "HEY LOOK A STRONG WOMEN!" which is what feminism is supposed to be. That's why I love this movie. Nowadays these strong, female women are Mary Sues; Furiosa had her flaws which is why I could get behind her. Unfortunately, you get 'feminists' who don't actually understand the term and scream sexism at everything. They then further harm their own cause by focusing on the negative roles females are given, rather than highlighting the positive.
@AirahsELL
@AirahsELL 8 жыл бұрын
+Jackie Swan There is no "main male role" in this movie. Furiosa was the protagonist and Max was just along for the ride.
@AshXXMayftw
@AshXXMayftw 8 жыл бұрын
+Jackie Swan That's because unlike modern day feminists I know what equality means. Both genders can stand on equal footing. To me if someone truly supports equality between the sexes, they should label themselves as Egalitarians, meaning equality between men and women. If more directors and producers would do what Miller did here, and make those movies just as good, I'd see them in a heartbeat.
