In this video I create a Mad Max custom Hot Wheels 73 Ford Falcon XB. I will be using a Full Spectrum Laser for many of the effects I place on the car. Link to weathering powders... www.amazon.com...

Yup The Ford Falcon XB (only available in Australia at the time) was used for the interceptor and the four door version was used for the other police cars in the original Mad Max.

Great inspiration and tips. I got two of these Falcons and plan on putting customizations to them to look more like the Yellow MFP cars from the first movie. I'll have to fabricate the roof spoiler, bumper skirt, and fender flairs, add a siren/light bar and paint scheme. I found an Australian company that makes the decals for these in 1/64. It's my first attempt trying a mod, hope it goes well. Cheers!

Loving what the laser is allowing you to do with your cars. The windshield looks particularly great!
@Mint-Lynx6 жыл бұрын
This is amazing! The car has so much character to it. The different colored parts making it seem like it started out an incomplete car. The rust making it seem old, the windshield and bullet holes making it seem battle worn. Finally the dirt and sand on the wheels making it look like its been driving through miles of wasteland. This car tells a story just from its appearance alone! Knowing how George miller gave every character a backstory in Mad Max 2 he would be proud!

Also if anyone is buying Chinese lasers, build a housing which blocks the laser light completely. The goggles they give you are probably just tinted plastic and don't block anything, so watching the laser is frying your corneas, giving you cataracts later in life. BaremetalHW's good laser is a CO2 UV laser which is a different sort. These cheap Chinese machines use 2W to 5W blue lasers with a variety of wavelengths.

It's a thing of beauty! I made a comment on your last video about using a '73 Ford Falcon, oddly enough. Greenlight manufacture a Mad Max Falcon ( I have one, and it's superb). The bullet damage looks fine - it might have been shot at with a .40 cal machine gun.
@areasevenpro6 жыл бұрын
Too bad they can't use the Mad Max name on their Falcon diecasts. Instead, they're marketed as "Last of the V8 Interceptors".
@jacobrichardson91373 жыл бұрын
They're way too big for .40, .40 is just a fancy name for 10mm which is a pistol caliber

I haven't seen a laser engraver since 2000-01 when I worked in a trophy shop. That thing was amazing and I wish I was able to play with it and see what I could do with different materials but the $70,000 price tag meant it was for plaques and and labels only, obviously to make the money back. It's been almost 20 years and I'll never forget how precise and exact that thing was, even with depth on wood and ABS. I remember one time I misspelled a name on a $90 marble on gold plaque and only realized it after I hit print and the laser already started. The owner knew I was scared to death and justified the loss by saying, "Well, we don't have one of these on display out front yet, I guess we do now".

I've been subscribed and watching your videos for about 2months now I have to say that you do such amazing work!!! I wish I could do what you do, you are a true artist and I'm inspired every time I watch your videos! The bullet holes look so sick, just that final touch sets them off. I don't think they're too out of scale, it looks like they got hit with a large caliber like a .50 cal round. Again amazing work like always.
@Jesse__H6 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking. The body got peppered with 50 Cal rounds at some point.
@kruleworld6 жыл бұрын
I'm working in 1/24 scale, so not really appropriate for hotwheels cars, but i did bullet holes with a small drill right through, and then a large drill to bevel the edges of that hole. I then painted it silver. doing them bigger makes them look more 'hollywood'. flic.kr/p/25v9D5M

Looks absolutley fantastic, especially the windshield is a nice detail that makes it pop out. I would leave the engine more rust free though, since they care for the engines in the Mad Max movies as their most important part (and it could make it pop more).
