Mad Max (1979), Mad Max Road Warrior (1982) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) -- are all set in the near-future in Australia. From the very first film, Oscar® winner George Miller proved a master at creating the gritty, bleak dystopian world and staging the incredible car stunts and crashes in the era when stuntmen, not computers, achieved the effects. All three movies starred Mel Gibson, virtually unknown until after the second film, as Max Rockatansky, a highway cop traveling through the Outback in a society descending into chaos. The films started Gibson on his road to international superstardom.

I hope that one day people will come to realize that it is the first Mad Max that deserves most praise. Not the Road Warrior, nor the Fury Road, but the first, original Mad Max: it makes most sense, it has best developed characters, particularly the villains, and it makes you care the most and understand the motives of the protagonist; it's simply a perfect, stripped-down, impressive work of art.

Always wondered why the scene shows Max blinking first and swerving out of the way in the game of chicken. Nightrider's reaction would make more sense if he was the one that swerved out instead-

They both swerved. At 1:28 they are both in the middle of the road. At 1:29 they are both on their left hand side.
