Even when/if Furiosa flops financially, I will always be thankful that an artist like George Miller was able to make all the brilliantly weird insane films that he has. A true visionary. Unfortunately thats not something thats very profitable nowadays, people only show up for IP films, and studios are unwilling to risk their money on original films. Well, no matter, at least Miller was able to make 5 of these fantastic Post-Apocalyptic action films, we can still cherish them when in a few years the movie industry is dead and buried

@@CoryD_85 No, it was conceived of as a trilogy by George in the 90s after he completed the original trilogy with Thunderdome. He wrote scripts for three movies in the 90s, two of which became Furiosa and Fury Road. Initially, he wanted to film all three at the same time (like Peter Jackson did with LoTR), but Warner Bros. would only front the bill for one movie, so he chose to do Fury Road first.

This is very interesting. I honestly didn't realize until now these homages and influences in Mad Max, although they make total sense. Very insightful, makes me appreciate the movie even more.

George Miller is so cool. Love how he follows in traditions of cinema and is willing to learn new things...like who's Kurosawa?
@ishnox
@ishnox 22 күн бұрын
I'm not sure if you're asking, but if you are, Akira Kurosawa is a legendary director with an entire career of amazing films under his belt. If you're curious, check out some of his shorter stuff like Yojimbo (which inspired the Dollars trilogy), or Hidden Fortress (a huge influence on Star Wars). Super cool, super watchable films, and if you like them, check out his epic stuff like Seven Samurai or Ran.
@kamuelalee

@@ishnox No, I wasn't asking. I've been watching Kurosawa for years. Rashomon is one of my fav films of all time. I just thought it was surprising George Miller didn't know who Kurosawa was because other directors of his age -- namely Spielberg and Lucas -- were great followers of Kurosawa films. Just interesting is all.

pretty sure he's talking about the first MAD MAX in the 70's and learning about Kurosawa then. I think I saw interviews w/ him where he said YOJIMBO is one of the inspirations for MAD MAX 2: ROAD WARRIOR.
