Can you believe what some idiots will say in this comment section??? Thanks for a "great" set of speed exercises Mike, I have been waiting for something like this for a long time and I believe these exercises are going to benefit me "greatly". Also Mike, thank you for "ALL" that you do for us drummers out here in web-land. You likely just don't really know how much you are appreciated and loved. So, God Bless Mike, stay loose and happy drumming. The guy underneath me here, I just don't know???

That's called French grip on the left hand. Perfectly valid technique. Mike, those drums look incredible.

Similar to 'Stick control', which I love infinitely! And in my opinion he solely uses american grip, which gives the ability to play more or less with the wrists at slower tempo's (and arms ofc) and eventually at higher tempo's which he illustrates, you can shift more easily to your fingers to control the stick. I personally play either German, almost pure arms/wrists at slower temp or French grip, for finger control and higher speeds. Although it requires me to rotate my wrists, and that can happen fast and a lot. Playing loco 32nd note fills around the kit with 16th note accents or whatever, a few measures long at 200 bpm. FUN STUFF, you can really see that Mike is enjoying this lesson!

Great video, the intro really sounds like something Brann Dailor of Mastodon would play eg. "The Wolf Is Loose - Blood Mountain"

Hi Mike, me again. I was just wondering?, this is not a negative comment at all so please do not take it that way. I noticed that you (because of the overhead camera) don't hold your left properly (the way that is taught) as opposed to your right hand. You hold your right hand as it taught. That being said (I am struggling with my left hand in that I hold my left hand the same as you, and I'm trying to fix it), how in the heck did you ever become so fast, holding your left hand as you do???
