Broooo I cannot appreciate you enough, my beautiful Celica seats I neglected and left a stain that settled and made the fabric all crusty and fall apart but now I can restore it with your technique

Well done! Another variation on this is to push the off-cut inside the hole out of view to one side beneath the cloth, then put the glue on the spot on the foam. Then with a tweezers or needle-nose, grip the patch and pull it into place.

I have an old peugeot 205 convertible and the seats are perfect, apart from one of the bottoms of the rear seat. It looks like someone has neatly sliced the fabric along the grain of the material with a really sharp knife, only about three tears right next to each other, couple of inches long. Is there a really strong tape i can put underneath these tears and hold it together/support it? Thanks.

I think I may go to a craft store and get the material I need instead of cutting fabric from my car. My seats are black as well with a design in it. I feel that black fabric is easier to fix because it’s less noticeable. Thanks for the video.

Best video out there. Was about to invest in one of those repair kits but with this video I think I can do it without it. Bought a used pair of WRX seats and unfortunately owner was a smoker. After a deep clean and patch of the hole they'll look good in the GC8.

The black makes it show less. In other colors it would show up allot. Easier to just cut a bigger piece in a round or oval shape and overlap about 1/8 - 1/4 ". Make it bigger to get a round or oval patch which the eye won't notice as much as straight lines. Then glue only the edges of the piece and lay it down over the whole or tear. When dry the glue will harden enough that you can trim a bit of the top of the edge to lessen the step with some small curved fingernail scissors. It won't come off and be less noticeable.

now sit on it a few times. be lucky it lasts a week. the off cut is glued to the foam which will stretch differently to the seat material when sat on and will soon pull apart. nice bodge when selling a car but thats all it's good for
@Dentinvent6 жыл бұрын
When you cut the seat material and wanted a tiny piece , why do you cut a large piece and not a small one ? Also why can’t you just use an off cut of any similar material as the inner backing as long as the colour is similar ?

I have a bandaid patch to patch a cigarette burn on my seat. How did you sew your patch?
@shaleenymay5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Anjos I also, cut out a piece of the seat fabric from underneath the seat....and if u use matching thread, and sew the stitches real tight and short, then you dont have a ditch around it to fill in with extra fibers..,,although sometimes I still need extra flock fibers to it anyway...I do this for a living...
@christopheranjos97935 жыл бұрын
I just want to sew a patch. How did you get the needle through?
@shaleenymay5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Anjos if the seat fabric is too hard to get the needle through, you pull it with needle nose pliers.

It's a good way to temporarily cover or hide the hole if your trying to quickly sell a car I'd rather just use a needle and black thread or find black upholstery patck cut it and put it on seems easier then cutting more parts off other seats or just get a nice seat cover

This repair isn't any good, the best way to fix that would if been to remove the seat from the car and cut the whole seats cloth out and replace it with some blue harbor freight tarp with your free coupon and then spray paint it black.
@The_Handyman_Can Жыл бұрын
🤦♂️ This guy reminds me of the older gentlemen I see driving cars around with black bumper bars, repaired with silver duct tape. He’s fixed a hole in a car seat by replacing it with a temporary pubescent mole, that didn’t require the backing of the seat cover to be cut off, needed a far larger patch of any black cloth tucked into the hole. NOT glue slopped everywhere (which yes, dries clear, but glossy), and at the very least, some thread to secure it better to the patch beneath. He may as well have used silver duct tape 👎. To my Lady… If I start fixing things in this manner, the gun’s in the shoe box under the bed. Please set yourself free of me 😕.
