There we were minding our own business... as usual 🤣 and guess what shows up at our door? None other than Curl Smith’s newest additions to their original Gourmet collection. We received their “Hold Me Softly Style Balm” and their “Moisture Memory Reactivator”. Having had successful “Wash and Go’s” from their products that made them the luxury brand to try last year, M.A.D.CURLS couldn’t wait to try them. After admiring their very unique PR packaging and quickly sharing their original 4 hair products to refresh our viewers memories, we get down to business. What did we think? Awww! Oh no I'm sorry this didn't come out as you all planned! As soon as you said light hold I was like hmm I know mad curls likes medium to strong holds! But I still had faith in you both and I'm glad that you still tried to make it work! I can see what you all mean your hair is defined but usually your hair is glistening. When we style our hair and it has that shimmer and shine we like its because the cuticle is laying flat which allows for no fizz which in turn the light will reflect the natural shine we desire. I did notice that your hair was frizzy in certain areas but also like you said lacking shine making your hair appear matte. I noticed that you said that the style balm and re activator contain glycerin. Glycerin is hydrophilic (likes water) but you all also mentioned using the nourish and shine which i know is a oil and butter based product that is hydrophobic (repels water). That could be the cause of the excessive frizz plus the product giving you a soft hold and not being able to with stand any kind of rubbing or mild friction when applying it to dry hair. That then in turn making it feel like the product is sitting on top of your hair like you said instead of penetrating your strands. I hope this helps!! I still love that you both take time out of your day to share these products and review them for us! Love you both as always!

M.A.D.CURLS Your very welcome! And it just may have been😢 I think since hair was getting frizzy and frazzled already maybe more wate and smoothing in more product would have helped. I don't think the hold could stand up to the nourish and shine. You know how you go to the store and see the Italian dressing with the oil on top and the base on the bottom I think that's what the nourish and shine did.😢 I think if the hold eas stronger then your wash and go would have been great and the nourish and shine would have worked🙏😢

Finally someone reviewed these two new products! I have my issues with Curlsmith. I bought the oil and cream because I saw your first curlsmith video (I saw it multiple times lol). I saw how great it worked on your hair but the oil and cream makes my hair greasy and they are really expensive. Glad you guys tried it. Can you guys try Miss Jessie’s new Honey Curls styler?😊

Thank you for reviewing all the different products for us. It's truly helpful. Oh, one of you is experiencing shedding. Provided there is no medical issue going on try a tea rinse (green tea) in your hair. Also, using extra virgin olive oil as a pre-poo will help with shedding. I have tried both & it works!

When your hair is dull, that indicates the cuticles on the hair are open (aka high porosity) instead of closed...you get shine from light reflecting off your curls’ cuticle later, but if the layer is up, then light cannot bounce off...kind of like blinds being open or closed...you close them, the light doesn’t go in the room, open them and the light is absorbed into the room...THAT is why I stay away from glycerin...it tells your hair to open for moisture but there is nothing to tell it to close or stay closed...

I can't believe I never thought to spray the reactivator in my hand instead of directly on my hair. That was my only complaint about it lol I prefer using my hands to distribute products in my hair. So glad I found this video! Thank you!!

Hi ladies 🤗🤗! I appreciate your honesty, and that’s just one of the reasons why I’m such a fan of your channel! Sorry this didn’t work for you. Taylor Anne just a suggestion for the shedding...try rice water rinses. It totally helped me with my shedding. I think my shedding was related to hair dye? However, I now get minimal shedding on wash days. It also works immediately! You will notice a difference from your first time using it.

M.A.D.CURLS I typically shop at the one in Waterbury or Meriden mall. I know that’s out of your way. They usually will say you have $3,$5,$10 etc in points. Would you like to use them. I usually save them until $10 plus.

The reason why LoriAnne mentioned the smell of a real Christmas tree is because the pine from a Christmas tree has a lasting smell and Curlsmith has that same effect. It has a lasting smell. IJS. Hey 👋 ladies! Very interesting content! So you're human after all! 😂 My 7th sense told me it might not work (yes, I'm gifted like that...I'm also very modest! 😋). So, I think the problem is lack of moisture combined with lack of hold. LoriAnne, adding the Shine and Restore didn't help because it's a butter and butters seal hydration and moisture (which are not the same), but if there's not enough moisture to begin with, the butter is only going to sit on your hair. Also, I don't know if the Balm is marketed as a styler, but usually balms don't have water, they're also butters or oils...so either way, I think these products would have worked well with their other products. Love ❤️ 🇨🇦🎉🌹

I tried both of these products and my hair was dry and frizzy too!!! Didn’t like them. I like the Oil in Cream and Soufflé. I will send them back for refund. Disappointed since I really wanted them to work and need a Curl Reactivator that offers shine and definition. I agree with you guys 💚. Also didn’t like the thin spray application of the Reactivator.

April Baum Yes, Ouidad sent that to us. It’s OK. It’s part of their Climate Control Line and that Line is just not a favorite of ours. I like their Curl Quencher Line and TaylorAnne likes their VitaCurl Line. 🤓💕➰-LoriAnne

Thanks for the review!! I prefer the Ulta points/rewards over Sephora overall because with Ulta the points equal money. I get emails from Ulta and I use their app so I can always see my points/rewards money. Oh I just remembered you can also get their coupons from the app on your phone.

That’s how glycerin does in my hair. Poofball. I think because those products didn’t have a strong hold, or a gel to keep it in place the glycerin made it frizz. Just a thought... 🤔

Good to know they didn’t work for you since they are expensive and you don’t get a lot for your buck. But y’all still look 💣! I'm wondering how the balm would pair with their souffle. Too bad it didn't work for you guys! I tried it the other day and got meh results. I have a looser curl pattern and feel it didn't give me enough definition or shine.

LoriAnne tried a little piece with the soufflé, using it how they say, when the hair is dry and it was a fail. Her piece frizzed and the product just sat on top of the hair. I agree, the results for me where “meh”. Lol - TaylorAnne

Maybe I’ll save my Ulta point for some of their line. Maybe not these but some of their line. There points are ever hundred dollars you get $3 back idk how it works when your fancy and platinum but that’s how the basic one works.

Sorry you ladies had such a bad experience with them. Maybe there wasn’t enough moisture in the products. Atleast the rest of the line is amazing! I was totally rooting for those products to work and wow I was as shocked as you guys were! I still want to give this line a try tho, but soo expensive haha

Maybe you have some more build up. Did you use a cleansing shampoo . A apple cider vineger rinse is perfect for removing buildup. Silk elements has an excellent cleansing shampoo at sallies. it cleanses without stripping. I find that my hair responds to products better after doing a cleansing every 3 months. Check your perosity level too. that helps to know what product are better for you. i hope this helps. I hate you are still having this issue. We love you and care for your good.

Ossie R 👍🏽 I just tried the other day to do 2 pineapples, but this time I do one on top of my head and now I do the 2nd one at the back/nape of my neck. A viewer at the last LIVE mentioned that pineapples were on top of the head. So, I gave it a try and that worked better for me. It didn’t encourage that “part” in the middle of my head that tends to show more of my scalp then I like. I’ll show you guys at our Friday night “Live” 🤓💕➰-LoriAnne
