Remember the career mode in 2k5 where you could walk around your house, and you had a trophy room and a film room and all that shit? Those were the days. Lol

NFL 2k5 was easily the greatest Football game ever made Why you think Madden bought out the NFL gaming license cause they knew they wouldn't compete with 2k. The same way Nba 2k is killing live is the same way Nfl 2k would do Madden if it was still around.

madden is the biggest disgrace in the video game history. And is a complete embarrassment to the NFL. The mechanics are horrible. I mean they re using the same tackling animations from 2008. Plus dont get me started on the running animations. All the players look the same, at times you cant tell difference between a punter and a linebacker. The worst part about is that Madden 16 is the same garbage that madden 15 is.

Something else 2K did that Madden never had was in franchise mode they actually had HIGHLIGHTS from other teams.

10 Reason why madden sucks in my OPINION 1. Where are the pass interference !? 2. Where are the late hits? 3. How come people can user switch to anyone and run faster than player on the field and guard damn near anyone on the field and the player not get tired.. 4. Warp/Suction tackles 5. Players can't slow theirselves down from running out of bounds on swing routes 6. Offensive lineman can catch corners who pick the ball...? 7. Tired of a ball being caught or picked when your player has two hands on the ball and the opponent had one. 8. Onside kicks are magnetized .. They don't even catch it!!! Its just glued to their boy 9. (Not gameplay wise) but where are the new cleats, gloves, one armed sleeves, knee braces, mouthpieces?? The stuff we see players wear every weak in real life.. Like NBA 2K has every players face, damn near every shoe, arm band wrist band, tattoos and madden can't upgrade the vapors or even create Cam Newtons personal cleats .. LAZY 10. The tackling system is garbage truck juice. Like be real with yourself 7/10 of the tackles are hit sticks. A small corner shouldn't be able to a big running back like Eddie Lacy on his ass in a one on one situation, like add ankle tackles, shoe string tackles . Every hit shouldn't be Ray Lewis esque. Fix it to wear hard hitters are only to use hit stick, everyone else just does normal tackles and OCCASIONALLY can hit stick. I've bought every madden since 2001. So I've always been a fan. But it's getting so lazy with fixing things it's crazy. How are you going to add MUT and other game modes when you can't even fix the modes you have already? Come on EA. And if anyone disagrees with anything on my list let me know, this is just my opinion of a game and company being lazy with simple progression.

Madden has 3 things to fix. 1. Packs for MUT are too expensive 2. Corners drop every interception. They REALLY need to make it realistic. It's so fucking annoying. 3. If Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant actually made an attempt to go up for the ball they would actually be effective. Other than the name receivers are basically the same.

NFL 2K5 kicks Madden 15s ass in every aspect of the game. Its sad that its almost 2015 and Madden still doesn't have good tackling physics, half time shows, or pre game intros while a game made in 2004 had better animations and all. I guarentee that most of the people hating on 2k5 have: A. Never played it/played it long enough to judge B. Only judged the game on graphics, and not gameplay C. Were not alive/too young to be able to experience the game itself. D. Madden 16 is a joke dude. So many ridiculous catches, one handed catches on practically every drive, and still all the dropped picks. Oh, but for "realism" they made there be offensive holding calls on every other damn play, but never pass interference. It's a fun distraction, but any authenticity went out the window.

NFL 2K5 is the greatest sports game ever made. Comparing NFL 2K16 to Madden 16 is like comparing NBA 2K16 to NBA Live 16. There's a reason that Live is dead, and it's because of 2K. It's fun to think about what an NFL 2K17 game would look like. So here's my plan:Regular game mode - pretty self explanatory My career mode - also pretty explanatory, but maybe make it like NBA 2K17 and have high school and college game modes except make it better than NBA (I.e. without the stupid Spike Lee nickname shit). Also maybe have a first person option as wellMy park - Do An NFL Street hybrid with MyPark type of thing where People play their position in 7 on 7s online against each other for rep, and people would be able to buy their own special outfits and special street moves.Comment for additional ideas about this and like so people can see.

I dont play Madden anymore but still play NCAA and this is the exact same physics that we have here. I always noticed that in older Football games the A.I was just overall much better.

I know I'm late with this....but I just discovered this video today. And I wanted to chime in on the halftime report. You said 2k5 had only still images and no videos, I seem to recall that there was video replays during the halftime report. Specifically on the xbox, since that was the only console I owned. I recall me and my girlfriend at the time would love it when Chris Burman would say "He...could...go...all...the...way...TOUCHDOWN!" while watching the video of a runner going into the inzone. Anyways, I just wanted to correct that. Because Madden definitely didn't create the live video halftime reports. lol.

The Xbox version actually showed the clips from halftime on NFL 2K5. Also the challenge system has been broken for years on Madden. 2K5's challenge system works and you can actually choose what you want to challenge. In Madden you just challenge the last thing that happens in the play and half of the time that's not what you want to challenge. Plus during a franchise regular season game the ticker will show scores from games that were actually going on in your franchise...so if you're playing a 1 o'clock game you can see the score updates on the bottom of the screen from the other 1 o'clock games. I LOVE THAT. How does Madden not have that ticker or a functioning challenge system?

It is now 2021 and NFL 2K5 is still a superior game to Madden 21. Going to install a PC emulator just to play 2K5 on PC in 4K. Can have updated rosters as well. Worth the extra work for sure. Thank you for putting this video together, great work.

The crazy thing is... This is just a taste of why 2k5 thrashes Madden "15"... This is just the first layer, there are MANY depths as to why the 2k football series was WAY better!

In ESPN NFL 2K5, I use classic NFL fight songs from the 40s-60s (usually by marching bands) (as well as the old Oilers songs, The Autumn Wind and the Ravens fight song) as stadium music via custom soundtrack on the original Xbox.

I love 2k football just imagine how it would look today, it was very impressive 10 years go, Chris Berman halftime aw man 2k was good, I could imagine there take on a NFL game with the my player type like NBA 2k and storyline

Wow this is eye opening. I played 2k5 when it first came out but I was in 6th grade at the time and never realized how ahead of its time it was. What really stands out to me are the physics of the game. Just watching this video you can feel the weight and momentum of each player. Same with NBA 2k, you can really feel the game. Madden on the other hand feels very light and too quick. Animations are terrible in Madden. EA should be banned from making video games. We have TV's that talk to us. We have phones that guide us in everyday life and we have cars that can park and drive themselves. EA sports needs to get with the program. This is not 1989. No excuse for why Tecmo Superbowl is a better game than madden 16

My favorite madden was 07 because in career mode there was so much extra shit like before you were drafted you worked out with teams, had to take a test and then get drafted. Your stats reflected how well u did in that

A game from 10 years ago is as good or better than this new game, Jesus fucking Christ! Have some fucking pride in your work EA, put some effort into it. I find sports games dull as ever as I've grown older, I don't think you could pay me to play Madden, but damn these people deserve better.

the little things they put into 2k5 are impressive- seeing Berman talking in the beginning is uber cool, plus the fans tailgating and going in just a lot of cool little things. Also, the physics really did look good for a really old game, very impressive. I can see why EA would buy the NFL license.

A couple things, if you use the Xbox for NFL 2k5 it does have video highlights during the halftime show, I think it was saved to the hard drive during the game. Maybe if you use the hard drive on the PS2 it would work, but not the regular one. Also Madden did have first person mode, in Madden 64.

You say 2k5 has a better intro which I think is pretty true. Then you say no one ever watches the intro on Madden 15 so you don't know why they put in there? You could say the same thing about 2k5. You don't even compare them you just favor one. This was just a very bad video and very biased.

2k5 is still better.. Now can some one talk about challenges.. 2k5 asks if you are challenging the ball spot or catch, or fumble. Madden only challenges catches.. I stop a player short of the first down and it said the ruling as a catch stands. Madden is a failure compared to that 10 year old game.. Not even pass interference calls, only holding and won't identify the player.. 2k5 tells you who made the penalty.. 2k5 wins..

Sucks that the 2K football series ended, always liked it more than Madden. Always got way better reviews too.

one thing that drives me insane every year with madden is when my reciever clearly catches the game and that just gives up holding it...like not even a drop just literally lets go mid catch

Just for the record, how many of you Madden fans are hardcore basketball fans that also knew who the cover athlete was on NBA Live 2016? I guarantee it's none of you (the athlete is Russell Westbrook.) For a game made in 2004, the graphics, playability, controls, and physics are ahead of their time. The fact that Madden still can't compete with this game, the fact that it's still a benchmark, is atrocious. If the NFL wanted to do its fans a service, they'd release their exclusivity agreement with EA because the only good EA Sports games now are the FIFA games. If 2K is smart, they'll pick up the NCAA licensing agreement, make college games for a few years to show what they can do again, and reclaim their spots on the top of the throne. That's just my take.

Compare NBA 2K with NBA Live. No comparison. 2K blows EA out of the water there. Now imagine 2K with football? First and foremost, there is no competition or urgency for EA to improve Madden because they're the only ones making football games. They fool the consumer by taking baby steps improvements and in release making it a big deal with "Oh, look what we improved here!" They're just money hungry and the consumer falls for their bullshit. Mechanics are third-rate, unrealistic, just like NBA Live. The thing about 2K, they don't need to license the NBA and lock out EA, because they're confident enough that everyone buys 2K. EA is just insecure about their game that they have to buy out the NFL to lock 2K out. Ridiculous.

Never played NFL 2k5, but it seems like a pretty cool step for sports games that was never capitalized on... I think the same with Madden 06 thout, like how you could create your own stadium in Franchise mode, and you had a bit of a story in Superstar mode that was just never capitalized on.

Well, I foolishly traded my entire 360 collection just to upgrade to 'next gen', and I'm really regretting it...so there's your answer. Madden 15 is more of the same, and it's actually WORSE in some areas with horrible robo qb, broken challenges that the ai does for me and there's no way to change that, dumb ai that doesn't adapt, wrs REFUSE to fight for the ball, while dbs would rip the wr's arms off just to get it, ai wrs regularly run out of bounds even if no defender is near them, penalty sliders don't actually effect penalties, sometimes 'injured' players don't leave the field, despite 'player sense 2.0' being an advertised feature, and ai qbs hold on to the ball for too long instead of throwing it away, and they cannot sense pressure period, resulting in a lot of sacks. As for the 'new' tackle cone....which is a gimmick showing us what was already in the game for years. Yeah, it looks great in the madden hype trailers, but what they don't show you is how it ONLY puts more shifting into the game. Your players simply glide into position as they're sucked into a tackle animation. Why does my RB with 99 speed regularly gets chased down by slow lineman? And those are just the major flaws, there's little things that add up and ruin the experience: horrible commentary, the dead sidelines are a total joke, only skill position players get injured unless you're simming, bad, repetitive presentation with the ONE generic kickoff intro for every game, with the ONE generic qb entrance each game, still have post play goofiness even in year 3 of a supposedly 3 year plan, Still no formation subs, all pro: too easy, all madden: too cheesy and ridiculous in the ai's favor. It's almost as if ea knows all of the flaws, so replays are always zoomed focusing on the ballcarrier, instead of showing the entire field....you know like in 2K5. Why in year 5 of my Bears franchise late in the season am I constantly playing in sunny weather games? The game doesn't remember stats in franchise mode, showing zero's across the board on an overlay as the commentators say my players have 'bounced back' this week...EVERY GAME! All these years and now even on next gen consoles and we're still stuck with all of these flaws and lack of polish? ~_~ As with most ea football games, I tried my best to like this game, even lied to myself saying it's 'improving', but it's not. It's still arcade football to the max, and the 'small' improvements don't make up for the problems this game has had for all of these years, and now even more problems. NFL 2K5 looks ugly by today's standards, and it has some flaws of it's own(not ripping it since it's a TEN YEAR OLD GAME), but sadly it's gameplay and total package is still better than Madden 15, and once I get some spare cash, I'm buying back my 360.

How does 2k5 compare to earlier Madden games, it doesn't really matter which one but would love to hear what you think as far as whichever you feel is the best Madden game.. that being said maybe Madden 09/10 may be a good choice because it's halfway between with regards to year relate dates. Madden sucks

It's sad that EA destroyed a company that actually cared about its customer. What does Madden give you every year yet you still buy it? A roster update & better graphics. Smh. It's seems like they've adapted the same business model Apple has. The "Let's remove the headphone jack & call it "new" kind of thinking where selling you less, or keeping you content, is enough to keep you entertained.

Gotta say, in terms of movement and physics of the players, 2K5 is still the football king. 11 years later. Obviously the character models, lighting and ball physics have improved drastically, but Madden still feels like the players are skating on ice.

So madden 21 trailer came out yesterday and after seeing it im looking up videos of a game from 5 years ago to see where they went wrong.

Madden pissed me off when they stole the creative side of the game. You should be able to create your own playbooks..... and sign anybody to position that will fit your scheme. They Have Crabtree for the Raiders catching.... 84....but Antonio Brown 96!! Game is garbage..... Crabtree hasn't dropped a ball since last season.... first three games of the season now and through preseason. Brown dropped plenty of balls even one wide open. Crabtree speed shouldn't be 88....more of 92 or 93. I hate how they make rookies awareness bad when clearly the Raiders 2 defensive end rookies blow up plays when they get it. I was playing a game Vs the Chiefs last night and Maclin flash teleported 5 yards to the back of the end zone pass my defender to catch it. The next drive he caught a one hander on the ground....back of the end zone between Sherman and my rookie corner back. Sherman got to the spot the ball was thrown before them..... just stood there frozen with no reaction. My rookie corner dove at Maclin legs. Everybody knows Sherman would of hit his ass hard or pic that off. I put Sherman as Safety with Kam cause they gave him a 89 speed which he should be faster. Thomas was put at corner due to the notch faster of speed. He dropped 2 interceptions. Last of all is one on one match ups suck in Madden this year. They catch better around 4 people than one which in reality should be the other way around. Another thing is steroid speed in straight down the field bombs.... Your receiver speed could be 94 and the corner can be 89....he be right next to him full speed.... Fake.. mainly with no top help. I put a corner against Dez and some how without a bump he left my corner. His speed was 88 and my corner 92!!!! My brother said it's a glitch play. So basically a cheat code play they rigged in the game. Fake as ever.......

he forgot about the custom music you could use. as in specific tracks for intro for home/away games, halftime , 3rd down etc. 2K football is my #1 Football game, closely behind is madden 09 (i think that had Farve on the cover) and then Tecmo Superbowl.
