I saw someone say that no one will watch this because a new Babymetal song just came out and people will watch those reactions... but they forget that the fanbase can't get "too much" Babymetal. They will arrive now, or in a day or two, but without fail they will come.

I always love seeing someone’s first reaction to BabyMetal and you picked a good one to start with. This is an older concert but you can see how established they were with the audience. Japan seems to love the juxtaposition of what you see vs what you hear. BabyMetal, Band-Maid and Lovebites all do it. Another description of BabyMetal is Kawaii Metal!😊 Im sure people in the comment section will give you the history of them so I won’t bother with it. I’ve been watching since their earliest days and the progression I’ve seen is amazing. If you can I would suggest trying to watch concerts in chronological order so you can see the development of them. The stage setups alone are phenomenal to see. It is said you don’t go to a BabyMetal concert but to a BabyMetal experience. I’d love a chance to see them but I want it to be in Japan at the incredible venues there. After I few songs under your belt I suggest one of the latest videos, “Metalizm.”

Nice reaction. Babymetal is the greatest master class in juxtaposition ever. And it's not just this song but all of their songs. They blend genres of music so much sometimes it's hard to tell just how many they used. Basically, a blend of metal with jpop vocals. That's at its basic level. But once you listen to some more of their songs you'll quickly realize. There is a lot more going on here. While they have great songs. Where Babymetal comes alive is during their performances. As they blend dance genres as well as the musical ones. Then add in the crazy skill level of their stage band known as the Kamiband. Session players who have rotated over the years depending on availability. Then add in the mandatory crowd participation and there you have what makes Babymetal great. Their music is what is known as Kawaii (cute this is a whole vibe thing in Japan) Metal. The natural kawaii of the ladies shines through even the heaviest of their songs. Like this song which is about going to your first metal concert without a chaperone or unaccompanied by an adult. In Japan that's about age 15 legally speaking. Making age 15 something special there. While the song is called in English Headbanger. They're actually saying Hedoban which in Japanese means Headbanger but also number one fan. So they're not just going to the concert to headbang but also because they're a really big fan. Like many folks who go see Babymetal live. Even if you weren't when you got there. You will be when it's over. You WILL BE. YOU WILL BE. lol. They're so much fun. All their songs sound differently and yet maintain an overall sound that as soon as you hear it. You know it's Babymetal. Su-metal is the lead singer, Yuimetal sing and dance, sadly left in 2018 due to unknown health issues and Moametal sing and dance. they are the original members. Sometime after Yuimetal left. Babymetal used 3 backup dancers known as the avengers. One of those backup dancers Momoko. Has been promoted to full time member this year. They just released a new song called Metali featuring Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. You'll find it very different from this song. Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You have just found one of the best and the most entertaining live bands on the planet (they have international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). They formed in 2010 so you have a lot of catching up to do. They started as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin which was set up by the Amuse talent agency as a way to coach and train about a dozen of the most talented girls on their books in all aspects of entertainment (singing, dancing, acting, modelling, writing, stage management, TV presenting etc) with a view to their choosing how they would like to continue their career when they were at school leaving age (15 in Japan). BABYMETAL was the pet project of one metalhead producer who was inspired to experiment with this fusion of Metal with JPop aesthetics after seeing Su-metal (the lead singer) singing with her previous JPop trio and being very impressed with her no holds barred singing style and stage presence - she was only 10 or 11 at that time. He pictured her fronting a metal band and got his chance to work with her when her previous group ended and she joined Sakura Gakuin. In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist (not forgetting her two very good and also very talented friends Yui and Moa, their role was crucial to making BABYMETAL original and unique) and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right. They are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and, since the start of April this year, Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in ... their role is just one of the things that makes them stand out from other bands and it is key to how they control audiences of thousands and have done so from a very early age ... you spotted the crowd jumping when they did, their choreo is designed for that to happen, the crowd take their cue and follow their lead). The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. After Yui left Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo for the next 4 - 5 years through to their 10th anniversary in 2020 and a bit beyond, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) taking turns dancing in the third spot. Momoko was the only remaining Avenger from about March 2020 and was finally revealed as the official new third member at concerts on 1st and 2nd April this year where this video was filmed - most of this video came from the second night. BABYMETAL really are unique in that they invented their own genre and their own way of doing things. Do not try to categorise them as just one thing or to put them in any one box. You will not be able to predict them, just expect the unexpected. They don't copy anybody or follow the same format as nearly every other band (as you saw for a start they have brought choreographed dance to metal ... something I absolutely never thought metal needed before I found them). Nobody has been able to do what BABYMETAL do (some have tried, none came close). They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. There are many people who have played in the Kami Band as they all have their own bands or other commitments and they swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of concerts and they are the ones you will see in most live performance videos. The Kami Band became the full time support for all live shows at the start of 2014 and have been with BABYMETAL ever since - but only for live shows, they do not record the studio versions. The Kami Band of the West - American musicians - have supported BABYMETAL in the more extended foreign tours since 2019. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last, they have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also mix and blend so many other musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs are good hard metal, some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between. This video was filmed at their Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 - it was the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday and was her birthday party, she was born in 1997.

I'm Japanese. Thank for your great reaction. BABYMETAL's members are famous star (acting in TV. CM. etc) in Japan from when a child. The agency they work for is the largest listed entertainment company in Japan and has many stars. It is very difficult to get into this office, and female applicants need to be exceptionally beautiful, first of all. Many stars have been with the company since childhood and take various lessons from leading instructors, such as dancing, singing, acting, etc., and usually become an actress. And among them, a small number of people with high singing ability (like the lead vocal of BABYMETAL : Suzuka Nakamoto) becomes a musician.This is because it is very rare for a person to have both a beautiful appearance and a high singing ability. There are many videos of her singing from when she was in elementary school on KZfaq. BABYMETAL was created to make use of her talent in 2010(When she was 13years old). When Babymetal song is voted in popularity by Japanese, 'Akatsuki' usually comes in first place.😀

This group is easily one of the best LIVE performance bands in existence - if not the best - for well over 10 years now - more please...I guarantee you won't be disappointed - all tracks are very different and the energy and crowd participation is off the charts. The lead singer also has a stunning voice (maybe not so evident here). You'll usually find yourself happier and smiling at the end of most of their performances.

Everyone has different reasons why they love Babymetal. For me, my favorite thing about them is their Japanese touring drummer: Hideki Aoyama of the Kami Band. I think he's the most amazing musician I've EVER heard. Every time I see/hear him play it makes me cry. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. He's a god to me.

They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.) - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. Right now they are touring with another complete different set of musicians, we called them Western Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group. Most epic sweet 16th birthday party for Su-Metal! Band is Kami Band, session musicians, some of the best in Japan. Technically speaking, Babymetal is just the 3 girls, but Kami Band has been backing Babymetal for live shows since this performance (Dec 2013) to today. Their core musicians are still the same guys. Mikio (guitar) sadly passed unexpectedly in 2018, and in 2019, they also added 4 American musicians to assist with increased touring intensity to ease work-life balance, so to speak.

This was my introduction to Babymetal as well, and what a group to get introduced to... This, Gimme Chocolate, Road of Resistance, and Megitsune are a fantastic group of songs to start out with. Between them you start to get a sense of the span of genres they incorporate into their songs. There will be a moment watching some song when you will realize that one of the biggest reasons this band can do what they can do, is because Suzuka Nakamkto is a bad-ass. She has been the lead singer of a metal band since literally the age of 12. And the instrumentalists (known as the Kami Band) are practically walking gods themselves. It's absurd how much talent there is on that stage.

I can't believe you didn't know about Baby Metal, lol. This video is from a 2013 concert that celebrated the lead singer's, Suzuka Nakamoto a/k/a Su-Metal's 16th birthday. In the 11 years since that concert, Baby Metal has become a global phenomenon with fans on every continent. I saw them for the first time last September 15th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC and had a hell of a time. I invested in balcony seats because I'm 77 and wouldn't have survived the floor, lol. It was an amazing show and ticked another thing off of my bucket list. I know there are commenters who will give you the full low-down, so I urge you to delve deeper into The Foxhole, it's a wild ride.

Turn back now or you will be sucked into the Babymetal Galaxy just like you saw with the audience...seriously there's a lot of fun and amazing performances and music to be discovered. It's called the Foxhole because the Fox God is BM's patron deity. Babymetal started in 2010 as a sub-group of a Japanese idol group call Sakura Gakuin owned by the Amuse entertainment agency. The conceit of SG is that it's a school and the girls perform songs all together and also in sub-groups with themes linked to school clubs like science and cooking; BM started as the "Heavymetal Club" and its founding members were the main singer, Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), and backup singers and dancers, Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi. BM had so much success that in 2013 BM was spun off from SG and the backing Kami Band added. This "Legend 1997" concert took place in late 2013 and is both a celebration of Su's 16th birthday and also celebrates Babymetal's transformation from a J-pop idol group that started performing to backing tracks and developed into a headlining metal band backed by the Kami Band...the guys in the white robes and corpse make up. In 2017 Yui left for health reasons and Su and Moa continued as a duo until recently when a third member called Momoko Okazaki was added. The "Babymetal Guide" by CrypticMisery on KZfaq will answer many more questions. Headbanger is about a bittersweet coming of age for a 15 year old girl who goes to a concert and loses herself in the experience of the mosh pit. She realizes that such carefree moments won't happen when she has the responsibilities of an adult and so she vows to remember the night. BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). I’ve been lucky and honoured to have been in the Babymetal audience for their live show ten or eleven times now and they’re always amazing. They’re even better than this now and the crowd is always right there with them at every one of their shows. I remember seeing them for the first time and my expression was like yours the whole time. The Bank (Kami Band) sort of is..but not really. They tried to get them to commit full time, but they didn't, so they are basically Kami east, playing with them when they are in the east, then when BM is in the west on tour, they have Kami Band West following them around. Both sets are amazing musicians. Welcome to your intro to BM btw. I recommend: Road of Resistance, Live in Japan next. One of their best performances on stage. btw, always go with live versions over videos. This band is 100% performance as a huge part of their appeal.

Babymetal is one of those bands that have as much pull as some serious heavy metal bands. Didn't think I'd feel that way the first time...but honestly I'd be one of those in the audience jumping. Their influence is just electric. My first one was Megitsune...aaaaand then many more as I binged their music. XD

The three girls (Su, Moa, Yui) is (was) Babymetal. The band is the Kami Band. It has been the standard band for many year behind Babymetal. The girls are quite young here, 16 (Su) and 14 Moa and Yui). They were even younger when they started (13 and 11). Yui left Babymetal in 2018. Babymetal has since then both tried to be two girls and having an extra girl that varied who it was. Now, there has been chosen a replacement, Momoko. Of course, the three girls are now grown up women and not childish cute anymore, even if Moa definitely is cute, in another more mature way. The time before 2018 can be called the classical Babymetal, with the three original girls and they still were small cute girls. One important thing was that Moa and Yui had a very strong bond as they grew up together and were best friends. They were seen as two mischievous girls that had lots of fun things going. There is a sub section of Babymetal called Black Babymetal where Moa and Yui sings. Its fun. Of course, the magic bond between Moa and Yui disappeared 2018, which was a huge drawback for the group. I recommend GJ and Sis Anger from Black Babymetal. Personally, but opinions vary, I do not think that the new Babymetal really has come up to the level of classic Babymetal, even though songs lika Pa pa ya is fun and also BxMxC.

The greatest live band on the planet,the girls know how to put on a performance and blend musical genres with theatrical performances,this whole concert Legend 97 is just magic from start to finish and you could say their first real big moment to shine as a real band as this was the concert we were introduced to the Kami band some of Japan`s top session musicians who would go on to back the girls when touring ,no they are not Babymetal they just got dragged into it by the fox god and besides what musician in the world would not want to work with Su and her incredible vocals(that is two 7 string lead guitars a six string base and a full drum kit with a crazy drummer she is singing over and those boys in the kami band have those PA`s maxed). They're the unholy matromony of J-pop and metal and it just works so brilliantly. Su-Metal's voice is just perfect for this. Seeing someone experience Babymetal for the first time is always entertaining af lol Gonna see them for the second time later this year, defo one of the best live shows I ever saw

It's always fun to watch someone experience Babymetal for the first time. I wish I could go back and have that moment all over again . . .

Just caught them live a few days ago. Was incredible and worth every penny. Was such a great moment because Momo was a full member and got to show her ability in their performance of Metali. It also gave me a chance to explain to my 14-year-old nephew who Tom Morello actually is. Rage was my very first concert decades ago and was a great personal moment to share with the next generation.

This lineup was the three girls and really great musicians from Japan. Now they have hired bands depending on the area of the planet they tour. But, IMO, this was a great lineup.

The instrumental part of the band is an established band called Kame Band. The girls and Kame Band are collectively Baby Metal.

I saw them live opening up to Sabaton in Kuopio Finland. The fact that they got that crowd of militarypowermetal fans absolutely lighted up was brilliant. It's just a wall of sound with mind boggling visuals ❤

Baby Metal are mostly about the girls but people obviously love the band. They are called Kami band meaning "God band" in japanese. They are different musicians than the ones on the albums and usually they have different members per tour but sometimes they are around for a couple years. they do swap out members though
