Күн бұрынWe spent the 2016 New Years Eve at Madeira. The island is not large (it's only about the size of a big city), but the terrain is very undulating: it's hard to find a flat ground or a street that is not steep. We had only one week, and the weather was far from perfect, but we still experienced a lot: hikes in the mountains and on the rocky coasts, volcano museum, lava caves and pools, tobogan on the Monte, botanical gardens, and last but not least, the great NYE Fireworks of Funchal. All spectacular, and very diverse. Must go back someday.

Have been going for 16 plus yrs now. fantastic island. if you are able to walk around a town for an hour or so shopping then you are capable of walking along some fantastic Levada walks. Just go. Great island. Great people. Great experience just lazing by the pool, enjoying the local eateries, bars and restaurants or going for a lazy, easy walk alongside a Levada or for the ultimate, fantastic, never to be forgotten Pico Pico hike, (described as the best walk in the world in a national paper some years ago). GO, do not procrastinate. Go.

Madeira island is a most in any traveller's dreams👏💕✨ my island is a beautiful place to visit 😊 I am living abroad, working abroad (better career perspectives) but for holiday/relax it's excellent; if you visit it, don't spoil it, nurture it and appreciate it ❤️💕❤️💕💖💖

hermosa lugar, sus paisajes son fabulosos,, esas caminatas, cuando fui hice la caminata al pico aruivo. fui a las 25 fuentes, al la lagoa do vento, a la casa de rabacal, al caldeiro verde, y me faltaron algunas, pero experiencia inovidable,

I ❤ Madeira, have been there 5-6 times and we're off there in just under 4 weeks. The mountains (Pico Ruivo) & looking down on Curral das freres are my favourites.

lovely video. i last went in 1997. the airport has changed since then (though i saw the start of construction work as my plane departed) and i think there are new roads too. Time to go again!

Madeira is an excellent place for hiking, even for the less trained: The levadas have just a little slope to let the water flow, so you can walk a big distance along them - surrounded by amazing scenery - without going uphill too much. Don't miss it if you are there!
