The island of Madeira belongs to Portugal and is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Madeira is a tropical garden with incredible scenery, friendly inhabitants and culinary delights. Who loves beaches of white sand can make a day trip to the neighboring island Porto Santo.

I am a very proud brought up Portuguese person who still today am fluent in its language. My Mom & Dad were both born in Portugal in the early 1900's.I have been bi-linguel all of my life & have a very keen knowledge of this great historical country going back to its founding approx 1100 A.D. Having been born in the good ole USA as a gifted artist has brought me much attention even today. I have just finished doing Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro portrait who was born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal in 1985. He's great soceer player & I have much respect for him & hope to visit his homeland of Madeira soon. sincerely with Love, julio c. henriques professional artist since 1961

Such a wonderful place, we have been going there every year now since 2002, sometimes more than once a year. Going back in May this year :) Favourite place is the trail through the mountains between Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo!

TheLamo No, you have to drive from Funchal via Monte to Poiso, and then turn left and you will reach Pico do Arieiro at the end of the road. Then you walk from there to Pico Ruivo through the mountains. The views are breath taking.

TheLamo It's 32 kilometers / 20 miles. I would say it takes about 1 hour of driving.

I don’t understand how someone can dislike this video, either! I went to Madeira December-January 2019-2020 to let in the New Year and loved it. Definitely want to go back again! Funchal is brilliant and I also loved the triangular houses in Santana. 😍😍😍

I never knew Madeira was such a unbelievable beautiful island. Of course I knew they call it "the flower island". But from what I've seen on various youtube videos, it is perhaps one of Europe's most beautiful, if not THE most beautiful island. In terms of nature, it is a paradise.

I left Madeira for 7 years, but even now at 23, I still see pictures excited much of my land. Madeira is something that can not be forgotten in life by how beautiful it is, whether you're there, or go as a tourist. Madeira always :)
