Gerry was assembling posters and information to spread awareness that Maddie was missing. He wanted to emphasise the fleck in her iris as a distinguishing point. He was harshly advised against it for the reason the 'abductor' would harm her, or even kill her, because she would be too visible. Gerry went ahead with it anyway saying "it is a good marketing ploy". I think he knew she would not be found so it didnt matter.

They actually rented that car 3 days after she disappeared. The dna was found in the apartment however there was 4 matching. The father mother and siblings. There is no conclusive evidence regarding this case. My opinion is that the father was involved whether that was drugging her or not. There is also no evidence that she was abducted. I believe she died in that apartment. She was dumped in the sea before the police were called. one of their friends saw a man carrying a blonde girl around the time that Gerry was standing talking to a friend at that same moment. GERRY DOESNT REMEMBER SEEING HIM. 🤔 I think Gerry organised this whole thing.SHE OVERDOSED. WHY WOULDNT THEY GIVE A POLYGRAPH. IF MY DAUGHTER WENT MISSING I WOULD GIVE A DAM POLY.

I think Maddie died early during the vacation. The last picture shown at the pool shows a child who has not been in the sun. I think she was sedated, got up and climbed onto the sofa trying to look for her parents. She likely fell off the back and died of an ICH, or broke her neck, or died of positional asphyxia. The McCann’s had several days to stage the abduction. Body was likely in the apt. Briefly, then stored somewhere, and later moved in trunk of rent car to unknown final location. Too risky to put her in ocean as parts could wash up later. Also, blood dog found blood in rocks under porch so she could have fallen off high porch and died in the rocks. My question is, how could upstairs neighbor hear children crying for 45 min. And not call Portugal equivalent of 911.???

I think the reason why there was a hit by the dogs in the rental car, is because the child was disposed of in a double bag. The inner bag was disposed of with the child, but the outer bag was kept to use for their luggage. Bodily fluids may have leaked onto that bag, and when they placed it in their rental car, the transfer of death got on the carpet.

They killed her with sedatives. Plain and simple. Her wailing was of a mother who child was dead and not lost. She blamed herself for leaving her. Because a sedated child should be monitored. And their language indicates they already know she's dead. This is the most audacious non- government related cover-up I've ever seen.

If Maddie was heavily sedated, she wouldn't have been awake to get into an accident, but perhaps awake enough to stumble around, and get injured, and died. It was dark in the apartment, so maybe she was alert enough to climb onto the sofa to peek out the window, but fell, and hit her head hard. The child was gone a few days before Katie sounded the alarm. They needed time to dispose of the child, get their alibi straight, then report her missing.

I get that they're Drs, they have to be professional, detached, as when they're speaking to patients, family etc when they're delivering bad news but the unfortunate thing about the McCanns is that they can come across as smug. Many years ago a 3 year old boy went missing in Greece, and the media were nowhere near as sympathetic or as supportive to that boy's family. It seemed as though because the McCanns were middle class and Drs they were above reproach. That young boy's family was never given the positive publicity that the McCanns received

Hi, I was a nanny for a doctor who used to sedate her four children including a premature baby. I was shown what to give the baby, and the milk went a pink/purple colour. When the parents left, I poured the contents down the sink. I gave him a warm bath, fed him formula and put him down to sleep. There was no way I was going to prison by following this crazy woman's instructions. Just want to add, I have left my children asleep whilst attending a dinner party next door at my neighbour's house and I just didn't feel comfortable. I was just steps from my door but after checking on them a few times, I went home. It just didn't sit right with me. I just couldn't relax and I could see into my home. What were these parents thinking, who leaves the door unlocked whilst in a foreign country?

God bless you. Sedating children to sleep is child abuse. An older child with an occasional insomnia might warrant a minimal intervention, but a premature baby? My view is the first three months you should be there almost all the time holding the baby as much as possible. There is a reason this time is called “the fourth trimester”.

If you’ve ever actually looked into the case, you’ll really understand the amount they did to put their daughter in jeopardy and why a lot of people strongly suspect they had something to do with her disappearance. The fact cadaver dogs found the scent of death in their hire car in a garage with other vehicles, granted, it could’ve been from a previous hire, but what are the odds? They washed items that could have had evidence on them, like her teddy and blanket, refused a lie detector even though they “had nothing to hide”, publicising her eye defect even though they were advised not to… there’s so much more to the story that really has you question the McCann’s involvement. I think the theory of an accidental OD is the most likely, they would have ALL lost their licenses to practice, most definitely, if found out that they were drugging their kids to have a few drinks at a bar. Who knows if the McCann’s were good parents before she disappeared? Just because there aren’t any reports nor investigations doesn’t mean they were pillar parents. She was 3 after all, that’s not a very long time to detect maltreatment, especially in the form of deliberate drugging. My heart seriously breaks for any parent that loses their child, by any means, but the McCann’s are seriously questionable.

If you've actually looked into the case you would have read the Martin Grime reports: Eddie was a multi-disciplined dog that would alert to the scent of a cadaver, dried blood form a living person and other bodily scents. Eddie made no distinction between alerts, so no one knows if he alerted to the scent of a cadaver or dried blood. Eddie was never put into the car, he only alerted to the passenger side door in which was found a key card. Both Eddie and Keela alerted to the card. Keela would only alert to dried blood. No evidence that any of the children were drugged btw.

I don't understand why people refer to this as a disappearance. It's not like she vanished into thin air by magic, or just wandered off into a ditch and got buried alive, or some Moroccan pido snatched her out of her bed and jumped out the window. Still , disappearance is more accurate than abduction. I like to put it like this: she has been hidden from us in a dark place, and won't ever be seen again.

i didn't think they killed the daughter but the thing that angered me was disparity in treatment that the upper classes recieve in contrast to disadvantaged families, like that which i grew up in. when I was a child social services were called out simply because of my poverty as a child. My mother wouldn't have dreamed of leaving me alone all night. If she had, no doubt i would have been put in care. So no, I don't blame the maccanns for accessing what help they could, any parent would, but in reality, if they had been " rough around the edges" most likely their younger kids would have been removed , especially when there are significant suspicions that they sedated their kids. My nieces and nephews would be in care as quick as 1,2,3 if my sister did that. They were afforded much because of their status in the community but in fact they should have known better than us mere "plebians". Furthermore, they easily earned enough to access the child care that was available where they were staying. All that said , i would never harrass them, At the end of the day, they must live with their choices, which were catastrophic.

You are absolutely right. I was the single mother of 3. Their father was a dysfunctional deadbeat. I don't blame anyone else for my bad choice. Life was not easy. I did everything I could to stay working and pay for babysitters and daycare. Tried to be a positive role model. I would have never left my kids alone. We lived in poor areas and it was a field day for children's s services. Look- up Kids For Cash in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania USA. And the McCain s were educated professionals . think they did have the local C&F social services team "assess" them, - but yes agree with everything you have written. Sedating one's own children through medication they could obtain because they wanted peace and quiet?! What! Surely that is a criminal offence in its own right? Thought their behaviours just a few days after losing Madeline were strangely emotionally disconnected. I have a suspicion the Police in Portugal would want this case closed, and am a little sceptical/cynical about recent developments. Above all, never, not once, were my two daughters left alone evenings or at night. Just stunningly, unthinkable stupidity.

When looking into this case. They were asked something like 40 odd questions where they refused to answer all but one. They also were in talks to letting the mothers sister adopt Madeline due to her bad behaviour. Not sure if the adoption part is true but the questions are well documented. The questions could of lead to better Ideas of what happened to their child. If you were the parent surely you would answer all questions they were asked to try their best to find her. They also didn’t look for her. Plus their friend lied about seeing a man carrying a girl last at night. There are too many issues with the parents to fully believe them. After McCann stored Maddie in the bag in the wardrobe he then managed to take her to a rented house with a fridge and stored her there for some weeks until in a panic he and Kate retrieved Maddie and drove her away to be buried or DISPOSED OF - as McCann actually said before correcting himself. They did this on a warm day so that Maddie melted and ripped cadaver fluid over the car and KMcC's clothes and the soft toy cuddle cat. Maddies was disposed of in the remote triangle of south west Portugal in such a way that the McCanns know she will never be found so they are free to sneer at all suggestions of her death being their fault. After the disposal they tried to cleanse the car with disinfectants and leaving the tailgate open for at least two days! But the dog found the cadaver smell.

No mention of this was made to the police at the time when she disappeared. Then the McCanns tried to give the impression that this mysterious person carried Madeleine out of the small window, which involved raising a noisy, metal shutter, which no one heard, instead of the more quicker, secluded unlocked door by which they entered ! They take the twins to kindergarten (In front of the PAPs may I add) next morning then go jogging on the beach. Right ok! Devastated parent behaviour right there… NOT. I’ll end my rant here but there is so much more to this disgusting case than the mainstream media would ever care to put out. RIP Madeleine and I hope the truth will come out… at some stage.

I think that one reason why people were so hard, and to some extent still are so hard, on the McCans is that they were relatively wealthy, educated, professional people who had the resources with no strain at all to ensure the safety of their children. There are so many of us who couldn’t afford a vacation to the next town over without hardship, let alone a nanny for the kids so we can go get drunk while those kids remain safe that choosing to be so irresponsible is hard to understand. They had critical thinking skills. They had money. They were able to do better and didn’t choose to and while you say that they paid the ultimate price, it’s actually that baby who did. As it happens, I don’t think they’re guilty of harming her (beyond drugging her) and I agree that they don’t need to be hounded. The focus should be on the child, not on the poor parenting. But I did want to try to express why I think they still draw ire.

I rarely comments to any videos about the McCann case, though I have plenty of thoughts, opinions and beliefs about the case. One thing that’s puzzled me for many years, and that neither the Portuguese or British police have ever picked up on, as far as I know,is something from the very beginning of the holiday. The group were at the airport, one of the adults was filming, and panning from face to face, and when he reached Gerry,he said, “ Cheer up Gerry, you’re on holiday” and a stony faced Gerry replied, “ F**k off,I’m not here to enjoy myself”. That short clip used to be on KZfaq, but recently I’ve had difficulty finding it again. Why wasn’t Gerry ever asked, that was an odd comment to make.. what exactly did you mean..can you please explain… Just WHY weren’t you going on holiday to enjoy yourself? (And as an aside, how disrespectful for a father, sitting next to his three tiny tots, and also in front of his friends’ small children, to use bad language. I’m absolutely certain he wouldn’t use that expression in front of one of his patients.) But I agree totally with you @Maz that it wd be inappropriate for not just Kate McCann, but for any woman in a similar situation to her, to perform on Dancing on Ice. Nothing to do with believing that KMcC shouldn’t have fun. It would just seem so incongruous and unfitting for a parent who is only in the public eye because of a tragedy that happened to their child,to be invited to take part in a TV competition. The case never solved, the poor child’s fate still unknown, the mystery never explained fifteen years later, the parents guilty,if of nothing else, of leaving their tiny children unattended in an unlocked apartment. Surely no parent in such a situation would choose to accept an invitation to appear on an entertainment programme. It would just be wrong and would seem in poor taste. IMHO.

@@yowzer49 I just wrote this exact thing as the first thing in my comment. All the good stuff is gone off of KZfaq now. Gerry also had a discussion with his buddy about Maddy and they were discussing bjs. He circled his nipple and said that Maddy was starting to do that now or it was his daughter and he was asking if Maddy did it too. I can't quite remember it exactly but it was enough to tell me these guys were doing something very wrong with their toddler daughters.

I remember reading about this comment by Gerry or hearing it on U Tube. I remember hearing that there was some talk of sending Maddie to live with a relative. For someone who wanted children and a family so badly, it appears as though Kate may have had trouble handling 3 young children. That comment supposedly by Gerry makes me wonder what they had planned for Maddie. That statement about the nipple was witnessed by 2 doctors, a husband and wife who were friends with one of the Tapas group. They were invited to vacation with McCanns in either Greece or Spain. I cannot remember. The man asked Gerry if Maddie also “did this” as he moved his finger in and out of his mouth. The female doctor looked around to see if others heard and saw this too. She said the conversation got really quiet for an instant and then resumed. Have you seen the 3 pictures of Maddie? One with makeup and pearls, one with her on her back and the “iced lolly” photo? They are all disgusting. The 2 doctors reported the disgusting conversation between Gerry and ?? Oldfield or Payne to the British police twice I remember reading. Also they never had anything to do with that group of people again.

I seem to remember a story that the child had been sold by the parents. I don't remember the details. As someone else noted if they' d been poor they would have received much different treatment. I raised 3 girls as a single mother. The father was a dysfunctional deadbeat. I blame nobody for my bad choice. Life was hard. I did all I could to stay working and pay for babysitters and daycare. I would have never leftthem alone. They are grown now and I still worry about them. Gerry complained on the way to their vacation; this was pre-planned. They were a group that was sharing their children with each other. This is why the door was unlocked. They would bathe each others kids. They all were rich but refused free baby sitting. Gerry and a friend were seen talking about Maddy and the friend was saying something about Maddy or his own daughter and he was making a circular motion around his nipple while talking about a bj. It's been a long time so these are just bits and pieces I recall. Richard Hall did some excellent research and has a 3 piece video on it. I absolutely believe they are guilty. Kate lied right off the bat about their window being open, then they tested it and the thing didn't open at all. Nope, there's something wrong here and that starts with her parents.

The reality is no one knows what happened to Madaline. These parents and their friends failed to cooperate and be completely open with the Portuguese Poice from the start. There have never been clear uncontradictory formal statements from Tapas 8. From the outset, this failure to be open and co-operate with the very authorities who were acting for Madeline and trying to help the McCanns opened the door to the negativity that continues. The lawsuits (which were all lost) against Portuguese authorities have not helped the international perception of the McCanns Many resent that they spent a huge amount of money donated to find Madeleine on lawsuits which in essence about defending the McCanns and their egos. We really don't know what happened to Madeline, it remains an open case both in Portugal and the UK. This analysis of a complex multi-faceted international crime sounds simplistic and biased. It sounds like written after reading a couple of Daily Mail articles after Sunday lunch. Does it matter whether some people like or don't like the McCanns ? What's important is a continued unemotional focus on evidence and the pursuit of the truth about what happened to the victim, a frightened little child who possibly suffered great fear and pain and may well be dead. Who cares about whether Kate appears on the On Ice thing? Not your usual or your best!

My aunt was an amazing woman, and we were sharing memories that made us smile and laugh. Suffice it to say that many people gave us looks that made it clear they did not approve. She would have. Maybe it's because I grew up watching MASH (two episodes a night every weeknight!) - I learned that laughter was a good way to cope with tragedy. When I got older and studied psychology, I found out that there is actually empirical evidence behind that truism. I recall reading a paper recently that nervous laughter is not only very common, laughing at humor is simply one type of nervous laughter. FWIW, if you find it that troubling, there are cognitive behavioral approaches to controlling nervous laughter. You could look into that.

The husband particularly bothers me. Poor little Maddie. After what happened you would think these people would be found incompetent to keep their other 2 children. For #### sake they sedated a 3 year old and younger children and left them alone in a a resort room. BTW, Bruekner was a prime suspect several years ago. He had a prior history of raping a young child in Germany. P.s. Maybe prior abuse of the Mcann' s was undiscovered.

Breuckner has no prior history of raping a young child, he has been found guilty of raping an elderly woman in Portugal and has now been charged of exposing himself to children and raping two other women. Christian Breuckner might be a monster and he is certainly a criminal, but he has no connection to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

No, the McCanns could not go to the show (skater's on ice, or whatever); because of the reality that the public was so harsh. People respond to grief & tragedy in all different ways. Unfortunately, currently, most people fail to recognize or respect that & create more grief & tragedy by judging other's emotions.

I think what you are saying is right, i agree. However sedation was never proved just a theory. I agree, i see so much vitriol. The most hypocritical thing with people who disbelieve the larents cringe on about how much attention it gets, whilst at the same time giving it the exact same attention over other missing children, including forums.

Children were sedated! They were always concerned about that. If Maddy wasn't sedated would not have been abducted!

First... it is not the parents that have paid the ultimate price, it is Madeleine. It's just so much that is strange with this. I think it is unlikely that, if it was the parents, nothing has come out during the years with so many other people around at dinner and in the apartment. But still something feels so so wrong...

You never mentioned Madeline once. I reckon Madeline was dead a few days. Also the Portuguese Police were sure they were guilty. They refused a Polygraph. Who cares about dancing on ice. They used the money to pay off there mortgage. The Mc Canns should have got jail for neglect. Ye,, how about Gerry playing tennis 2 days after Madeline,,,,,Death. And kate jogging on the beach. Why did they hire out a car,,,

British media sometimes seems like it might be worse than American media when they fixate on certain cases. I’d love to hear your analysis of Amanda Knox and the murder of Meredith (forgot her last name). There seems to be a huge disconnect between Brits and Americans, probably due to media. There is no part of me that believes Amanda and Raphael had anything to do with it. Edit: I made this comment before I got to the end of the video where you answered my questions about Amanda Knox. 😀

Agree with this opinion which helps me let go of my feelings about their critical lapse of judgement. I think the stoicism could have been a combination of personality (doctor profession typically = low neuroticism), grieving and guilt over their tragic mistake.

Special request, Doc: Please get into the mind of the person who killed Mary Jane Kelly, supposed 5th victim of Jack the Ripper, despite a difference in, erm, styles between Jack and her killer. Just go off the description on Wikipedia, as described by Thomas Bond, surgeon, an early, perhaps first, English offender profiler. (I'm a bit lightheaded, and haven't even finished reading what "Jack" had done to the young woman, but I'd be interested in your thoughts on the perpetrator. I'm not squeamish, _but_ )

Good call, but I believe that it was same killer than had killed the othe four canonical victims. The massive escalation was due to the murder happening indoors; the killer could spend as much time as he liked with the body, unlike the other four, hence the horrific post mortem injuries.

There are many opinions on what happened to this unfortunate little toddler. There is only one truth. Eventually that truth will emerge. What is so sad is that there are people commenting who try to outsmart others. Who get satisfaction about oneupmanship. Who play word games. There is a little girl, who lies dead ( probably) and the question is why? Our role as adults should be to protect children. Many who follow this case and other cases where the vulnerable and helpless are harmed, missing , murdered are passionate about the well-being of children. I pray that whatever evil befell this child will be exposed and the culprit or culprits punished.

I’ve come to the opinion that the parents are innocent, but I just can’t ever get my mind around their childcare plan (or lack thereof). Obviously, they could have never known what would happen. It’s just so hard to wrap your mind around it, especially knowing this was a group of doctors with access to a hundred better options - how could they have even had fun while having to get up constantly? Why not just hire or bring a sitter? Or one parent stay home? Again, I’m not blaming them for the abduction, but I just get stuck on this part. That part of the case is actually more of a mystery to me than the abduction. Maybe they have explained and I missed it, but I’ve never seen them actually give an explanation. I don’t want them punished or bullied, just to understand why they made that choice.

The babysitting was free. They refused after it was suggested that they accept it. That only happens for a reason. Please don't be so naive. The whole group was leaving their kids sedated behind unlocked doors. They were bathing each other's children. This was all on purpose, not by accident.
@valhallaw

Have you watched the Netflix series? The McCanns explained that they didn’t want to use the resort’s babysitting service because it meant the kids would probably wake up when they went to get them. (the service wasn’t for the rooms but more like a centralized daycare location). All of the group agreed. I’m not saying that’s a good excuse (it’s not), but it is the reason they gave.

I don't understand why you would call them pillars of the community just because they are doctors in that case they should have known better and got a baby sitter for the night they won't be short of a bob or too on the hole. I respect doctors but when you and others put them above ordinary people you are placing them above the rest of us and some doctors see themselves as gods and treat you that way very sad all round.....

Some very dodgy decisions made far worse by their professional position of responsibility. At the very least. As far as Gerry is concerned do not many consultants, cardiac and Neuro in particular border on psychopathology in any case? I am led to believe that this is how they cope with the enormity of what they do? Committed suicide? Yesterday’s parlance surely?

Losing a child doesn't strengthen your faith. It would make ne question it. I am not religious, but i hear despicable comments by some people, that God has a plan. I haven't heard it here, but that seems to be what religious fanatics believe. What merciful God would want this to happen to an innocent child? I would appreciate not hearing religious comments, because this has nothing to do with ones beliefs or any devine plan.

I think that a huge reason people gang up on the parents (besides mob mentality) is that it makes people feel like it would never happen to them. A child kidnapping is every parent’s worst nightmare, and people need to tell themselves it can’t happen to them because they aren’t like those other parents.

@@vermilliongecko more I feel like out of all the likely scenarios that could have occurred based on the evidence available/collected, and that we the public were informed of, I personally feel that this scenario is the most likely. My personal opinion is that an accident happened, and was incorrectly dealt with by the parents. I hope, if this is the case, they're at least honest with one another, as opposed to living within an incorrect narrative for self preservation. *shrug* It's *my* opinion, mate - you don't have to share it.
