It’s extremely refreshing hearing someone finally talk about men and women being different and separate from eachother. I’m not trying to get political but it truly is. As a women, it’s been so hard to find videos or anything online just for US. I absolutely love this video and this content. I’m 29 and struggling with endo as well and it’s awful. Thank you for the information 💕😊

I just bought a few books from a renowned male author and then I watched this video. Returning the books and finally focusing on how my own body works. And not trying to apply a male focused diet to my very different female body.

I found that, as a woman over 35, strenuous workouts were actually wrecking havoc on my body. I started to focus on shorter workouts focused on strength training and pilates, lost weight, and my immunity improved.

Yes! I'm 36 and I suddenly found myself not "feeling like" doing HIIT classes anymore. Then I found out that's there was an actual reason for that and my body was telling me this! Loving Pilates and taking long walks now. Feels right.

As a 51yr old woman who is STILL having a menstrual cycle this video is such a great reminder of how I can do some things to help myself when my body is having a hard time. I’m a night shift nurse too and it’s hard to get the rest I need. I eat healthy and go outside for at least an hour walk daily. I live in a climate similar to you, but I’m on the other coast. Being outside I find is some of the best medicine. Congratulations on your 3rd baby ❤❤❤

Really resonated with this video! I've been on a "gut healing" journey for a few years and tried aaaalll of the diets out there, and nothing helped long-term, and in the end I just felt like through restrictions I have just made everything worse. I recently have tried changing my approach to food with a lot of the mindset that you share in this video, and it is actually really helping.

I am so thankful that you posted this video today of all days. I am beginning to think that all of my health issues could be drastically improved by relaxing and finding ways to decompress. Prayer is my number one way to do that and to lean on Christ. You really struck a nerve when you mentioned about trying to eat/take supplements to fix a health problem. I think it starts with decompressing.

I wish I had known all this when I was young. 64 now, and have struggled all my life with my body in one way or another, especially with my cycle. I was a little crazy with PMS, had painful periods, was infertile because of adhesions from various surgeries, had an early menopause and yeah... loads of fun. I wanted something better, something more, something other, my whole life. Maybe it was just this - slow down and listen. I do think we are living in a better way now than when I was your age - so much more information and access to it. Thanks Madisun, for doing what you do, from Brisbane Australia.

Hi Madi, thanks for all you do. Question ❓ I love your content. This comment is absolutely not about you, but reflects my upbringing. Im a woman, yet I feel like it's wrong to consider myself in such depth like you spoke about. No one ever talked to me about these things. I always tried to appear strong, tough... My dad was constantly lecturing me on what was wrong with my body, and I acted tough in public so that people wouldn't just see what a failure I (thought I) was. I'm opening my ears to what youre saying here, but only because everything else you teach is spot on resonates for me. This comment is full of grammar problems but if I think twice, I'll delete it.

I don't know exactly how you feel, but i know that i wasn't told either, my mom is a though woman and she always saying things like to have a though skin or to not let people hurt you, after battling with myself all my life for being "too emotional" or sensitive i realize that it's fine to be that way, that's nothing wrong, just the opposite, to live our life adictted to cortisol just to have a kind of "man performance" like being able 24x7 or just force you to be ok when you are not, im just quitting to what other ppl said so that i can be healthy again physical, emotional and in every sense... It's ok to give us the chance to be just woman and to live not faking and being vulnerable when we need it, being able to heal... I hope something of these makes sense to u i really hope that...

I don't know if this helps but I set up a cycle center in my house, for my monthly cycle. I have a comfy spot in my house- blankets, pillows, heating pad, Gilmore Girl re runs, I get quiet during those days. I try not to schedule too much during that time. I sleep as much as I can and take slow, quiet walks. I also have a table with my art projects, books, I set up Pinterest boards to scroll through and just relax me. I also do not apologize for feeling like garbage or not wanting to deal with people or things around me.

I'm 42 this year, just had my second baby in November. I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was about 13 years old. Since then they put me on birth control yet so many things were just off: acne, mood swings, heavy bleeding, etc. Last year I got married (I was 20) and stopped using birth control. I was so afraid that I was not going to be able to conceive (since there had been many signs that there was something wrong with my body- like missing my period for months at a time- and no sexual activity whatsoever) yet I got pregnant in November and learning now about natural birth has opened the door for so many other things to learn about. I’m currently learning about the Bradley method and I’m so excited to give birth! I just found your channel and will for sure keep listening. Keep it up!🙂🤍

Sooo good and all sooo true! I’ve thankfully been pretty in touch with how my cycle affects my mood/eating habits/self image etc ( despite being brought up by a mum who hated her periods and only had negative opinions about them!) but I have only noticed over the last few years how sensitive to clutter I am when I’m due on-it drives me mad! So I’ve actually used it to my advantage when decluttering because I can be much more ruthless about clearing stuff out (despite feeling pretty sensitive about other things at that time-elderly neighbours, environmental issues for example!) so I can minimise more efficiently and almost see/visualise more clearly the ‘simple’ life I know I need! Anyway, as always, you speak such truth and ALWAYS inspire me!!! Thank you! Love from a homeschooling mum on the beautiful East coast of England x

I am so interested to get my cortisol tested. When I was ttc I was very stressed. The doctors told me the only way to conceive was through IVF. I was having 90 days between my period. It just didn't feel right for me so I didn't go ahead with IVF. I learnt to relax my body and let go of the stress. I fell pregnant that month naturally and have had two kids ever since and my cycles are now spot on 28 days

Thank-you so much for your comments on a the menstrual cycle and how irregular and very painful periods are not normal. I suffered for a very long time with extreme period symptoms leaving me in bed all day long from migraines, vomiting, difficulty breathing and pain all over my entire body which I was told was 'Difficult but normal'....

Amazing timing! I’m 17 months post partum and still breastfeeding through the night when co sleeping but thinking surely my cycle will return soon?! Anyway I’ve recently read The Fifth Vital Sign and I’m actually sort of excited to get my period back… today I was looking at period pants! Will definitely by this moon cook book!

I love this. I used to have a cycle of 30 days with 11 days of my period from age 14 through 22 when I got pregnant with my first. After that my cycle was 28 days with 6 day periods. It is as if pregnancy fixed my body. Years later I wonder if I actually had endometriosis (I used to throw up from cramps as a teen because it was so bad). I enjoyed listening to this because I think these were awesome pointers. The book you mentioned sounds so interesting. I also love learning about blue zones and eating and living life as they do. I feel my way of life has changed so much over the years for better as I age. I haven't received my period again since having my third baby nine months ago (nursing), and am planning on getting pregnant as soon as I can since I am 40 now. I did get pregnant while nursing with my second child and am hoping something like that happens again for this fourth try. It is so tricky to try to get pregnant without having a cycle though (I had my period after 4 months while nursing when my two older children were babies)! My husband and I are high school sweethearts and are loving this stage of being parents all over again and trying for "set two" as our first set of babies are teens. hehe. I am glad I have never taken weird medications or birth control, as I feel that really messes up people's systems way too much! Eating the right foods and being outside and moving (and not using weird chemicals in the home) are the best!

Hi again Maddie! I wonder if you’d consider doing a video or podcast on your philosophy wrt movement/exercise. I’m very curious how that’s fit into your healing journey and how it’s maybe shifted as you’ve felt better and better. Also curious if you’re movement philosophy genuinely let changes throughout the month to match your cycle and whether you set goals and just move intuitively as you feel is right. As someone who used to be type A, go go go, be perfect, people please, go to the gym every…which lead to anxiety and burnout and adrenal fatigue and lots of postpartum anxiety…I’ve found that to this day, I still haven’t fully found my grove or intuitive relationship with movement again. I know for me that walking outside and gentle movement like yoga always give..but when I add in the gym and strength training again I still get depleted very quickly from it. All the data says that strength training is a must and I do want to get stronger, but I just wonder if following that intuition to move more slowly right now will actually get me there faster. I’m of course listening to intuition and trying different things but very curious what other women have found . I just wonder for myself sometimes, if it’s similar to how you talk about our relationship with food. The most you prescribe and become inflexible the more fear we induce around moving or “moving correctly” which can just cause more adrenal fatigue.

I love love your channel! Your videos are beautiful and you are so gorgeous inside and out. I have been struggling with colitis and hypothyroid for YEARS and focused on a Whole Foods plant based diet, but it’s not enough. I’ve been diving into mind work (rewiring the brain) and minimalism. Focusing more on my inner self. I would love to know how long it took you to get off of thyroid meds. I hate being on them but the hair loss I have without them is so bad and emotional. Also, I am almost 7 months postpartum. Any advice on how to take care of myself as a woman if I don’t have a cycle right now?

Great video! Very well thought out points you made. I do want to comment on the fact that studies made on women are actually harder to conduct BECAUSE of the menstrual cycle, which is why most studies are men only. I don’t agree with it, but I understand how that would make it more complicated. Just a thought 🙂

I love your channel and both as a woman and a midwife I really believe you're on to something 🙂 I only have one concern, you're mentioning endometriosis in you're main title. I've met women with really serious cases of this, and no hormone in the world, lack of stress or zen are able to help them as this is endometrial tissue growing elsewhere in the body. Symptoms may be alleviated, but the endometrial tissue is still there until removed, if possible, by surgery. Just wanted to point out a difference here. Wish you all the best with your pregnancy 🙂

Went straight on amazon to purchase the cycle book. I don't have periods as I have a tumour on my pituitary gland. I want to hopefully start them again as I do feel unnatural not having them. I will definitely be looking into holistic approaches for sure as not keen on taking medication. Your retreat sounds heavenly but I am living in South England so a bit far away 😢

Madi, you look truly beautiful, just glowing! Thank you so much for this video, I’m literally busy learning all I can about hormone health and the phases of our cycle etc now and boom! There’s your video. 😂 I want to know how you balance cycle syncing your meals with eating in-season foods. For example, if it’s winter outside and only winter foods like citrus and root vegetables and greens are in season, but your cycle is in it’s inner spring, then how are you supposed to eat berries or salads when that’s not seasonal eating?
@MadisunGray
@MadisunGray 3 ай бұрын
Hey Tarryn! Great question- for my body I usually utilize frozen fruits and veg if I'm going to eat something not in season since those items were likely picked at peak ripeness and then "preserved". I still don't really enjoy cold smoothies in winter if it's truly cold out but there are winter fruits and sprouted or fermented foods that are lovely in winter! Citrus, counter top sprouts, kimchi, saurkraut, lots of greens thrive in the cold too!

Wonderful, practical video! Would LOVE more information on working with your cycle-- but during pregnancy!!! I’ve had such a hard time finding any information about how to tune in and respond (nonetheless RECOGNIZE) body signals during pregnancy. Obviously you’re not ovulating/cycling, but isn’t there a lot of complex hormonal happenings for those 9 months?!

I really love this video especially since a few hours ago I just got done telling my husband I’m not happy with my weight, but when I make myself diet or make myself exercise instead of doing it for fun for example, bike riding swimming, and dancing I love doing all those things but if I do it knowing I’m doing it to lose weight it takes the fun out of it for me and then I end up avoiding it. For me personally, I’ve been up and down with my weight for 18 years and I noticed that I only ever lose weight when I’m not trying to. I also wonder as a 36-year-old woman who’s had a partial hysterectomy (due to endometriosis, cysts etc.) and has not had a period for 2+ years now how I can become in tune with “my cycle” will the books that you have referenced help do that? I do still have my ovaries so I’m sure there’s a way, but do you have any advice on that or are there any books That you recommend for a woman in my situation?

Hey Madi, do you continue to follow these rhythms with the moon while pregnant? Or is it like a 9 month long ‘winter’. Or is each trimester like a different season? Or none of these? I am pregnant so very curious as to how you approach this! Hopefully my question makes sense 🙃 I’m grateful to have learned about our ‘seasons’ but feel clueless when it comes to pregnancy and what this looks like
