No, just dump her on a chair for her husband to come and deal with. I often roll my ankle, and sometimes it is badly sprained, and I have a tendency to become faint with that sort of pain (pathetic, I know 😏) but I would be mortified if, in that situation, I was given more than a chair and a bottle of water until there was time to dream with me personally and help me out to a taxi. There had to be limits to how much inconvenience one person can cause so many others!

tbh it sound like like one of those thing where for years it was happening and everything was fine and then one day it wasn't and like the driver slipped or something and bumped the throttle and someones head did a grape and then every one was horrified, so there was public outrage, so then to show that took the incident seriously they went full tilt nobody touch anything etc etc probably figuring "well when the pr noise dies away we'll just get every one to ignore it cose that's what their gonna do anyways" and then it happened again or someone was stupid enough to actually say that to some one etc so now when there's a film crew you can be damn sure they're gonna do it by the book ... reminds me or frank burns making people white wash the undersides of rocks for the generals visit in m*a*s*h

As an experienced railroader here in the United States, every single Railroad rule is written in blood unfortunately. Someone does something stupid, or a genuine accident happens, and they write a rule that may seem like overcompensation... but is redundant enough to make sure those things don’t happen again. For example, at the Railroad that I work for we have a rule against using your fingers to align holes when using machines... and against standing in a puddle with a metal pole during a lightning storm.
@Trasslet875 жыл бұрын
One episode of a Swedish program about the Stockholm metro showed a woman dropping her phone on the track and for staff to go down and get they talked to traffic control and stopped all trains, they didn’t hand the keys over but yeah. I have several friends working with and on Swedish trains (Drivers, tickets etc) and there’s even more safety measures in place there so maybe you’ve not seen there must be the same procedure in places in more cities. :)

Well.....I guess sometimes when people drop their belongings on LU track and the next train is told to stop and the LU Station Staff at Bank tell the driver to give them their keys for their train sometimes they the drivers on LU drop their things! In this case their Train Keys!
London is a big enough city that the Underground should run 24 hours like in NYC.

Interesting way they have a dealing with emergencies. Both New York City and Washington DC have the same practical rule of thumb. Transport everyone and let medical Professionals in the emergency room triage as to whether they will be kept or released. You don't allow someone who has falling down stairs invisibly has a contusion to the Head walk out of a subway station. I was wondering why they never dropped the gurney down to the scene with them. @FreshSalad6455 жыл бұрын
Because public transport in London is really expensive and it is possible she already paid for a month or a year. In my country, they would just re-issue you with a new card (and "refill" it the way it was) but our cards are nominative if you take a monthly/yearly subscription so they can just check your customer #. I'm not sure for oysters, I know there are nominative cards but I don't know their system honestly.
@mats74925 жыл бұрын
oyster cards are not nominative, so if its gone, its gone with all the money on it

london wont be able to handle much more than 9-11 million people. its infrastructure will require major renovation to go beyond that. New york has a little more than twice the population & it struggles with its massive subway which is over twice the size. Many of the tunnels & stops are still the old Victorian shells, with modern amenities, but its the shell that was made for hundreds of thousands, Millions were not even a pipe dream to the original engineers, hell there were wooden escalators not too long back in the underground, they were removed in the last few decades because the fire hazard & other obvious draw backs..

I appreciate "one small slip up" can delay everyone, and safety is a priority, but come on.... Just for dropped Oyster card on a track you gotta disrupt everyone on that line? Going a it far ain't it? Passengers are for safety reasons, but the staff are experienced. They know all too well a slip up can shock them on the tracks, so they KNOW to be careful up front... so that gives excuse to proceed does it not? I would have at least tried as a passenger anyway... Better than causing havoc for 30 minutes. I don't think commenters are even away for these things. And honesty, i don't think they care.. They just want there belongings now.
