Yep, it's just a narcissistic feeling among passengers who think they should get to their destination before anyone else, thinking "I'm more important than you lot, let me on first"...."...and why do I, the wonderful me, have to walk out in the rain?"...yep, some of them were arrogant indeed, z e n z e n y o k u n a i, shooting the many messengers trying to keep the respective stations, and the trains running. Why different lines are run by different companies is beyond me...the worst thing you can do is completely privatize different sections of a transport system is beyond me, especially the size of the London Underground system.

I was in London several times this year. It's not a bad system. The people in the video look bad, but they don't know what's going on. The people jammed in the tunnel, where all the cursing is heard, well, those tunnels get stuffy and a person's first thought is, 'Why are they stopping us in this cramped spot instead of back where there is more room and more air?' All these problems should be handled two ways, first what they're already doing to manage the problem, but second is to educate people on how the Underground works. Peoples' first response will always be a knee jerk, "I just want to get home, I don't want to learn about how to run a subway." But they are interested, they spend a lot of time on it. It's always better to try to learn more. I was stuck on a Blueline platform in Los Angeles, with a growing crowd of people, and two British Train Drivers. When the train finally arrived, they said, 'Wait. There's always a second car within in 2-5 minutes and it'll be empty." They were right. I had a job once where if I left for it at 7:15, I would just make my 8 am start time, (45 minute stressful commute.) If I could leave just before 7, then I'd have 20-25 minute commute on a fast moving freeway, but then I'd have 30-35 minutes to hang out in the parking lot. So I'd read and drink coffee. I had to start parking at the far end of the lot because the new problem was trying to explain this to all the people who wanted to tell me that what I was doing was weird.

our subway in Toronto, Canada is so old they (TTC) have to close part of it most weekends so they can try to do some repairs

I cannot accept this "it's old technology" argument, or like the lady at the beginning says, "these trains are from 1973!". Because... the trains in Berlin were from the 1930s, until they were replaced in the early 2000s by new stock. And after *that* happened, things broke down. There are times when only half of the fleet is in operation. And something like this never happened with the old trains. I now see the same thing in the west of Germany, where I live. As soon as old trains are replaced by state-of-the-art ones, everything breaks down.

@@wuloki New stock fails a lot when it is introduced but one those problems are solve they usually run heaps better than the old ones. Old stock can't be relied on forever and it becomes a headache after 40 years.

Raoul Simon True, but London is worse, BECAUSE the stations are older, the platforms are smaller and narrower, and the infrastructure is more overwhelmed. The NYC Subway, crowded as it does get, can deal with higher capacities of people. Stations are larger, with wider concourses and platforms. Most Tube stations are only two narrow platforms, smaller, narrower concourses; steeper banked escalators because a lot of the Tube stations are deeper underground than NYC Subway stations. That’s why during WWII they used the Tube as bomb shelters during the blitz, because its very deep underground. I love London (and lived there for three years when I was growing up), but the Tube is a little scary when it’s super-crowded. That’s why when I have visited I try to ride either REALLY early between 6-7:30am, or between 11am-3pm or after 7pm. Between 7:30am-11am it’s chock-a-block ridiculous with morning commuters. 3-7pm; same thing with evening commuters. After that it’s better, unless there’s something going on like a football event, or it’s a major holiday. That’s when I would avoid the Tube altogether and just walk. And if ANYONE pushes me, I get VERY hostile in return (as I try to be considerate of others space), so if they think they’re going to avoid paying their fare by pushing me, think again. I will call you out. And if you try and get physical with me, you will get turned into transit police. I have NO TIME for that 💩.

Vancouver is so lucky compared to my city. You guys have a reliable system. My system, the trains break down almost every day. Ours is known as the botched system. Also the snow doesn't "break" it, it's just a safety measure cause the snow is too heavy so the system thinks that there's a person.

I think trains can still be brought in and out of the branch line but the power has to be switched on manually or something. If the Holborn rebuild goes ahead then the branch line will probably become inactive, even as a film set, because they want to use one of the Aldwych platforms as a new passenger concourse.

There is a track connection, which is how it got to the depot, since they couldn't maintain the train on the branch. They also used different trains, at least 4-car 72 trains, and 3-car 73 trains. The 3-car 73s now run on the piccadilly, and that's why you sometimes see the third or fourth carriage of a piccadilly line train have a cab.
