I think that the first take is honestly the scariest one. Because that's not just Homura speaking, you can outright hear the Moemura in her voice as well. D:

Voices really makes the difference. Didn't know that seiyuu is working this hard. The final recording Homura sounds intelligent and thoughtful of her action, and also retains her cold self like we see her in the beginning of the anime. The 1st take Homura sounds insane / yandere. She sounds more confident, but I don't like that she sounds like she's belittling others. It also sounds that she is not thoughtful and no way can reach her anymore. I'm really glad that it's the final recording that was chosen.

Am I the only one who thinks the 1st take shes sound far more crazy and yandere, with the film version more subdue but also smug?

i just realized that homura was humming "mada dame yo" song in the epilogue...., but she didn't want to hum the "now, good morning nightmare," because she wished that the dream world never ends.

I actually prefer the final take. While the original did have a lot more emotion, that doesn't necessarily mean it's better (although it was great). The final did the best job of expressing the Homura in Rebellion, who tries so hard to reign in her emotions. Also, it makes the story more open ended, where her sanity is much more ambiguous. The only think I preferred more in the original version was her "ai yo".

In the first take she has so much feelings in her words showing that she is emotionally unstable. In the final recording her voice is calm and more emotionless indicating that she is lieing both to the others and herself. She keeps up the villain act with the "this is my perfect world where I am perfectly happy" but her look is just empty. She is not happy and only hoping in she can make Madoka happy like this.

wow, i am totally surprise. just a minor change of the speaking tone can make such big difference. seiyu actress are truly amazing.

Isn't it strange? In the very first timeline, Madoka was bubbly and outgoing, a perfect antithesis to Homura's initial shyness. As the timeline loops and loops, Madoka becomes more and more withdrawn. When Homura reforms the universe, she becomes even worse. By this time in the series, she can hardly form a sentence for stutters, "um's" and second thoughts.

I like both, but very prefer the final version. It fits much better with the person she's become over the years of time loops. Except the final scene. The humming was much better.

Chiwa Saitou is such a good voice actress, and her works in Madoka and Bakemonogatari highlight it perfectly… Her part as Homura might have been the hardest part she's ever played, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case.

I like the final version better, except for that small part at 9:12 where she says "Madoka could end up hating you". I love that certain drop in her voice, it sounds so frightening. The epilogues both are epic in their own right.

The left one defiantly sounds more like Homura, thoughtful, monotone almost. The Rights sounds more unleashed, gone and crazy almost. There are definitely points where it would have fit but The left one is definitely more true to the character because yes while Homura is changed she is still herself she has not lost her way or ultimate goal and I think that's portrayed perfectly.

I can see why they redid the lines, the first take may be more emotional but the second almost gets the point and feelings across in its delivery, if that makes sense? Plus the second attempt kust sounds more like homura in my opinion. I do like the humming, though.

It's almost like she's mocking everyone after she recreates the universe. Up until then, she sounded like it almost hurt her to bring Madokami down - and subsequently suppress her. I guess I can see why they went with the final recording.

1st take is surely badass, but I'm happy that they put 2nd take in the movie. In 1st take she doesn't sound like Homura and it doesn't fit her personality. The 1st take sound too crazy, but the final recording is too calm, Homura's personality does change after she made up the mind of become devil, and that is all emotional based, so it does make sense that she sound more emotional. And I like the humming from the 1st take, it makes Homura looks more sad and lonely

I prefer the ambiguity of the final take. Homura sounds entirely too pleased with herself in the first take, a little too much giggly instability in what she's done. I like the final take's understated satisfaction, and also the element of quiet resignation that what she did isn't going to last. There's so many more layers to what she did in the end that the first take just didn't convey. Homura can't let herself be truly happy in her new world, or be truly proud of herself for what she's done, because she knows it came at the cost of Madoka's freedom. Whatever happiness she gives Madoka isn't true happiness, and I think the final take shows that she knows that, much better than the crazypants first take did. Plus, I didn't like that humming. The accordion sounded much better, more ambiguous than outright creepy. It also makes the reveal of what she did to Kyubey more impactful.

公開版はまどかへの執着が一周まわって感情が表にあまり出なくなって少し淡々としてるけど、自分の望みを叶えた歓喜が垣間見える感じで、恐いはずなのに何故か恐怖は感じない。 リテイク前は、ひたすらに執着と望みを叶えた歓喜がビシビシ伝わってくるし、同時に恐怖も直に伝わってくる。(他アニメのキャラで例えるのもアレですがローゼンメイデンのアニメ銀様に近い) 結論:どっちも好き

I think it could've been really good if they made a mix of the first and final take. The first take for the parts where she's talks deeply about Madoka or directly to Madoka and any other moment the final take with her more calm and composed voice. Letting her true self/voice shine through when she's with or thinking about Madoka, but also her calm voice to show that she hasn't completely lost herself to her emotions and that she's still able to think about some of her actions. I still love the final product though =^^=

the first take sounded a lot less collected and emotional, like homura's gone waay off the deep end. i like both versions but i think the unused one makes it much creepier

im just SOOO glad they didn't went with the 1st take. It just sounds so much like homura being a crazy obsessed yandere -_- It would totally ruin the message. In the final take, she sounds much more calm and like she means it, and knows what she's doing.

Seiyuu can make the whole ending seem different with just voices holy

I feel the one they chose for the movie was much for fitting. It represents the hopeless and struggling version of homura finally having her way. It keeps her going forward rather than backwards. It even matches her expressions more. The other take gives me the vibe of evil glasses homura.

右の方が個人的には好き！今までずっとずっとずーーっとまどかのことだけを考えて生きてきたっていう想いや感情が爆発してる感じで、良い意味で生々しい。

I really like how they went back, to the first episode, where Madoka's trying to decide what ribbons to wear and she's wearing the yellow ones, because she gave the red ones to Homura. I mean, how many people remember that little bit, after everything that happens? I only really remembered it, when I saw her wearing them.

Homura is one of the best anime characters ever made if not the best, the final take makes you feel her emotions so much better. she was jaded by everything even though she finally made the world as she wished it to be for Madoka she still knew it wasn't forever.

I love the passion of the first take. It makes the whole sequence seem like a twisted sort of self-actualization.

The first take definitely sounds like Homura doesn't have control over her emotions. In the second take, she sounds more composed, even cold (which is quite fitting for the Homura we know and experienced in PMMM), whereas the first she sounds she's lost complete sanity and reign over her emotions.

The first take has less monotone, and Homura sounds pretty insane in most of the clips. And in the scene where she declares that it’s for Madoka’s sake, it’s as if she’s transcended madness in a way, and reached a sense of pleasure. Personally, for that reason, I prefer the first take. But I guess it sounds a little less like Homura, and more like a psycho Homura lol

The final fits her the best because of everything she's gone through, her voice is firm, while the first take she sounds innocent.. too innocent. like how she was before she became a magical girl. She's practically enjoying herself. 😭

結論 声優さんって凄い

I enjoy the subtlety of the second take. The first take is very emotional, but I feel that hinders the scene a bit, like a cartoony villain. I like the eerie calm and confidence of the second take, because its feels as though Homura feels her actions are completely justified, and that sacrificing Madoka's paradise was simply the price that had to be paid. The first take, again, is really quite nice, and I think some parts of it could have been put to good use, but I don't feel the mood is quite right in the first take. I'm getting memories of Sayaka's insanity scene and that's not really what's being built up here. Once more, not bad, just not quite suited to the scene well.

The first take is a completely different take on her personality all together. There is no trace left of the "cool Homura" a brave front she puts up mostly to encourage herself. The new Devil Homura has no need for such a front, she is truly in constant despair over the fact that everyone else lives in a happy dream created soley for Madoka. Her desperation in keeping at least that part of the charade going even without any of the cool false bravado from before its evident when she talks to Madoka at school. First take is way sweeter, final take is pretty much just cool Homura.

The first take is lovely, but I'm definitely glad they kept with the second take. They're going for Chikane Himemiya and Rika Furude/Bernkastel (though she's not even at that level yet having not gone through enough timelines THANK GOD), not Yuno Gasai, after all. :P

i'm gonna be honest, i pirated rebellion what i didn't know, however, is that the version i pirated was the "Homura 1st Take." not only that, but that it was a better service to Homura's character overall (at least in my opinion,) since there's still a tinge of hope and emotion in her voice. a slight hint of the homura who had yet to lose everything. she's not dead, not emotionless. in fact, this is the moment in which she feels most alive; the moment where her reason to live comes back to her. that's what this moment is all about, homura not wanting to lose madoka again, no matter what. so in my opinion, i favor this "1st Take," as it sounds to me like someone finally getting what they've wanted for so, so long (at least, in most of these scenes)

先日、DVD版を購入して視聴しましたが、 BD版も購入しておこう。

1stテイクは完全に悪役じゃないか～。 こえ～～。 千和さん気合入りすぎたか・・・ 断然finalのがいい(^^)

まどかに対してなら右の甘ったるい猫撫で声、他に対しては左の普段なクールって感じの声がマイイメージ

I think I prefer how much more haunting the post-credits scene is in the first take. After everything that happened, Homura quietly humming to herself just feels right.

even though i like the final version there are bits in the 1st take that i honestly like more. some people may consider it yandere but honestly by the end of this movie she is pushing it to that boundry of being a yandere she is honestly close if not a yangire by the end of this if you really look at it. Homura has created a world that she has expectations in and you see this when madoka almost becomes the law of cycles again. Homaru seems to almost have a psychotic break right in front of madoka. thats at least how i see it anyways.
