I think she is portraying more nuclear fallout and war from the Middle East crisis, which is why this was so important and groundbreaking when performed in Israel.

She can sing. Some of the songs she sang (i.e. "Sooner or Later", "You Must Love Me", "Ray of Light", "Lament" et al.) were not easy songs to sing but she pulled it through. She has such a unique voice with a rich vocal quality and quite emotive.

It's funny, Madonna was never a "bad" singer. Untrained for the most part, and not on the level of some of her contemporaries. But she knew her limits and did her absolute best to work within those limits, she was able to sing in-tune and had a personality that could transcend her more limited range. She was good enough to play Evita, which I think says a lot about how underrated she is.

Não sou um grande fã de Madonna. Sei que ela não tem uma voz super potente e tal, porém tem o suficiente pra deixar a música linda, com identidade única, com a força na medida certa. Logo reconheço a voz de Madonna. Além de que consegue ter músicas muito boas sem precisar gritar tanto. Acho as música dela um ótimo equilíbrio pra cantar e dançar. 21

La principal razón por la cual Madonna no se puede comparar con otros artistas, es principalmente porque ella se reinventa, se adapta a los nuevos tiempos, refresca su estética, sus conceptos, y la mejor parte es que cada disco tiene algo que lo hace único, siempre ofrece algo nuevo y añade elementos a su repertorio en cuanto al género musical, es una artista en su totalidad. Todo esto en contraste con otros artistas que siempre tienen el mismo concepto, la misma música y la misma imagen en decadencia a lo largo de décadas, viviendo sólo de los singles que les dieron un mínimo aire de gloria.

The only reason why her singing may sound a little bit better than in the TV version is that the harmonies of the background singers are way louder so the messed up notes don't sound that bad. You can still hear that her voice sounds flat and that she messed up a lot of notes tho.

it was bad, full stop. She screwed up, why not own it? If she had a bad singing day, she'd have got tons of good feeling if she'd stopped the performance and said.... "omg i'm awful tonight" everyone would have loved her. Plus she'd in her 60s and female voices go off the boil at 55

Madonna performances don't always transfer well on TV. She really is about the energy and performance rather than just the singing. This shows how amazing and skilled the performance was. However, this performance marked Like A Prayer's 30th anniversary, so I would've preferred a bit more celebration by including a choir, orchestra, etc.
