And Malacia has been out for a full year. So who knows if he'll ever get back to the level before his injury. Which was only good enough to be a backup in the first place.

With only Martinez staying for more than 2 years. Unfortunately we're in a situation where we need to move each one on in order to replace them and I doubt we'll be able to find buyers for all three of them this summer. At which point I'd rather let Varane leave and sign a replacement for him than not.

Mainoo is worth 200 million. :) Seriously though, the kid seems to have it all. The only thing he lacks is experience. The kind of thing that turned Delot from kind of meh into an half decent right back. The same thing that turned CR7 from being a show off step over kid into one of the best ever. Minutes in the thick of the action at the highest level teaches them something that can not be taught in training. Once Mainoo gets it, he might be absolute top notch mint. Garnacho is another one that keeps improving with experience. That kid is awesome and I also like the way most of the time he remembers to track back and help the right back, rather than thinking he is too awesome to have to defend. Fergie used to blood lots of youth players and gradually the minutes gained turned them into top pros. Wes Brown is a good example of that. MUFC have not been able to do as much of that since, because we do not get 3-0 up by half time like Fergie's teams often did. The academy still seems to be able to produce a few with world class potential though. They need to know there's a merit based pathway to the first team though, rather than the endless loans and then being shown the door thing. Who was that kid we let go and then he spent a decade at Real Madrid as one of their best ever? I forget. Not CR7. A defender I think.

It's only a matter of time before Real Madrid come knocking on the door for Garnacho! As for Mainoo, Real already has Tchouhmeni, Camavinga & Valverde, & so they don't need Mainoo! Realistically, one can understand why any player would choose to leave United for Real Madrid considering where both clubs are at the moment. Problem for United is that just the interest from Real Madrid can turn the player & his agents heads, put pressure on the manager to guarentee him a starting berth, as well as force the club to pay him a premium just to help Mainoo disregard the temptation. If Florentino Perez's Mainoo interest is serious, United should ask for Bellingham, Valverde, Endrick & Vinicius to come the other way!!!

If Real Madrid or Barcelona want a player they are hard clubs to turn down, can’t see Kobbie wanting to go yet and Utd have so few players performing at a high level they would be mad to let him go. Need to give him a modest extension to reflect his status like we did Garnacho. Not every player has fame go to their head & it's only right he's rewarded with £50k-£70k p/w. As a Real Madrid fan I can say this is nonsense. We have so many midfielders (Guler, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde, Ceballos, Kroos, Bellingham) plus others that can play in midfield if needed. Also, Modric is the only one leaving in the summer. Kroos is staying. No need to sign some kid with a little hype for stupid money only for him to become the next Jesse Lingard.

@@eddiemcalinden2773 I`m honestly hard to get on a hype. You guys bought Martial at 18 and gave him a Ballon d`or clause in his contract because he was THAT good and look at him now. Young talents rarely make it big. I remember reading back in the day how Lingard was the next Iniesta or something. I remember before that how there were players like Nick Powell, Wilshere, Walcott, Gotze, Asensio, Reinier, Januzaj, Sancho etc who were supposed to be the next big thing and didn`t. A lot of these guys had more going for them than this lad as well. They were good for 2-3 seasons before going bust. Even you would have to agree with me that the most likely outcome is this kid just plays every minute of every game until he is run into the ground and fails because Man Utd don`t have enough squad depth or because the manager is busy saving his job from the sack as opposed to developing young talents.

I'm fucking sorry right, but with the business madrid have been doig recently, both Garnacho and Mainoo would HAVE to be insane to go to Madrid with a midfield of Tchouameni, Bellingham, Camavinga being there for the next 7-10 years and Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo AND Endrick being there as forwards.
