8:25, nr. 17, is actually a hillarious easter egg in the Czech dubbing. The broke guy is named Viktor Kozeny, who is a fugitive fraudulent financier. His case was a big thing when Mafia was developed.

Awesome video! I'm a huge fan of this game. Playing it since it came out (I feel old now). There are some secrets I wasn't aware of. In fact #13 I might add you can tell Salvatore to open the silver fletcher and then you learn how to steal one (nice way to have a 4 door fast car at the beggining of the game). Wow, Sehr detailliert. Gute Arbeit. Ich habe neben der Sache mit Morello's Bar noch ein paar Details. 1. Die Straßen- und Hochbahn. Man kann sie im Freien Modus als auch für Missionen benutzen. Ganz witzig mit Paulie und manchmal auch Sam einen Stadttrip zu machen. Dauert zwar länger ist die Erfahrung aber auf alle Fälle wert! - 2. Bei der Mission, in der man in die Villa des Staatsanwalts einbricht, kann man optional das Luxus-Auto von ihm stehlen und für die Flucht benutzen. - 3. (am Rande bereits bei Punk 28 erwähnt) Autos entleeren mit der Zeit ihre Tankfüllung und können an Tankstellen nachgetankt werden. Dies ist normalerweise in der regulären Story nicht erkennbar, da alle Autos mit ausreichender Füllung ausgestattet sind. Wäre schon interessant hätte man dies in einer Mission mal verwendet.

Thank you very much for spending time making these. This is still my favourite game to this day, played it a lot when I was very young. It has perfect atmosphere, music and level designs. It has been twenty years but still the amount of things discovered is absolute gem. Kindest regards!

Here's another fact: all cars' engines in Mafia have unique power curves and they generally develop the most power at the highest possible engine speeds (red RPM band), which the auto transmission won't take advantage of, and since there are no mechanical failures without crashing in the game, you can take great advantage of this if you drive in manual mode. The REALLY cool thing about this is that not every vehicle will benefit from it equally, holding onto gears as long as possible is especially useful with early cars sporting less horsepower and fewer gears (absolutely transforms them when going uphill 😉) the "Bolt V8" (Ford Model 18 V8) for example is a quiet zippy ride for the early game, but can still feel sluggish when it's out of it's optimal power band - which will inevitably happen in auto with only 3 forward gears -, driving it in manual will mostly rectifie this issue.... But there are also absolute torque monsters like the "Lassiter V16" (Cadillac V16) variants (makes sense with an enormous V16 motor, although, the Roadster is quiet a bit nerfed in that regard, cost of getting it early, I guess), which barely seem to care even with a 3-speed gearbox only, which I find really, really cool...

In Czech version, the guy at the bank (17) who is broke is called Viktor Kožený. It's mocking the real person. Kožený created in 1990s company called Harvard Funds with which he was able to get easily coupons from trustworthy Czech people during post-communistic coupon privatization. He than basically destroyed the companies he bought with those coupons and the people never got their money back.

Great video, hope there more to come. I still play mafia these days with mods. Cant wait to use them when some of them still come out. Didn’t know how many unused lines there are in the German version. Sometimes they are getting used when you use different mods. Don’t know if you already knew it, but in the German version of the game you are allowed to kill Ralph amd Luigi in the bar without failing the mission. If you kill them silently and nobody sees the dead bodies nothing happens. But when Pauli or Sam are seeing them while walking around all Family members are going to attack you.

Awesome!! Played Mafia for the first time this year and was so blown away by the fact that a game this old has so much attention to detail. And since I also played it in German, I really gotta say I loved the dub. I will definitly play it again with FOV mod and maybe some new textures :D Keep it going, mate :)

I find out more and more about this game everyday, there's just.. too much This video certainly was a great one for sure. (might even be one of the best you've made) and after a rough count, I found that I knew a solid 89 of these, I was more unaware of the subtle ones and a few of the ones after number 90 really got me, but overall id say 89 is pretty good, what do you think?

i knew most of them, but some were actually incredibly surprising to know(im a speedrunner) and since when the alternate ending in bguti?

What I found out just moments ago is that when you're with Paulie and Sam they have face expression (only happy and mad) when you punch them they will change expression. Make sure when you do this they won't trigger weapons. Tried it in Just For Relaxation (random pick lol) and they won't trigger weapons there if you punch them (I haven't tried it out with the other characters but I suspect it's the same with them as well)

Fact 28. There often happens that the fuel tank gets ruptured by enemies firing. Fuel will continue to drop, but it never drops to zero that way. So... I guess that after your fuel drains to its minimum, then you can run out of fuel by simply driving? (Using Steam version of Mafia).

So the Shubert Six in the parking garage is an interesting specimen and I think I can shine some light on it. Notice it's a four door yet Paulie and Sam refuse to get inside it? If you look on the passenger side on the interior, the textures are messed up. What I believe is going on is that this is a traffic version of the Shubert Six. There are normal vehicles and then there are the traffic versions. Part of me thinks the reason this exists is because you are forced to open the door on the driver's side to pull the driver out. I've dabbled in Mafia modding just a bit...but nothing to any major degree so I don't know much of anything. But I noticed that if you add a normal version in the traffic pool in a mission file and you try to open the door on the passenger side to heist the vehicle, you'll get your normal menu that asks if you want to sit on the passenger side or get in the car as a driver and if you do the latter, that very thing does happen but the civilian disappears completely. It would look mighty silly! So to combat this, I believe that this is why there are two sets of every vehicle, including color variations, in the game. Now I understand that this is a long comment but you'll get where I'm going with this in a second! So when you heist a traffic vehicle and enter it, it'll convert itself into a normal vehicle and therefor all two or four doors become available for use. So if you were to heist a Shubert Six in the wild...it'll convert itself into a normal vehicle and thus we never see the first person perspective as a driver. However, the vehicle in question is scripted and therefor does not go through this process. That's why we're able to see this strange phenomenon. I guarantee we'd see this any other time if we had this version scripted in any other mission! But wait, there's slightly more! Almost all of the vehicles in the parking garage mission are like this. Regardless to being four door vehicles, Paulie and Sam cannot enter them because only the driver door is active, it's as if the other three doors don't exist. If memory serves me correctly, I think there's only one or two vehicles that you can all ride in together. It makes me wonder why this is...maybe because it was the mission in the demo and therefor not "updated"/overlooked? It really has me wondering why this is! But I had no idea on the first person perspective so great find!! 😄 And honestly...of all the times I've looked in Ralphie's junk pile...I never noticed that doll in the box. I even had to open up my game just to see and sure enough...it's in there! Creepy! 😲
