Are you serious? As i wrote, every debris would fly around, people clothes would move in a really awesome and realistic way and so on. It was really noticeable the Physx effect. I had like 50 FPS without physx and 20 with it activated.

Honestly, I can completely max the game, AA on and 1680x1050 reso, and phsyx, and still EASILY get 50 fps, imo, it looks ALOT better than without physx. The clothing moves with Physx, the debris with Physx, and sparks with Phsyx.

you do realise the VSync is limiting the framerate at 30FPS. the reason they did it is to hide the performance drop. if you have a good high end videocard the framerate will still be decent but on crappy videocards physx is just not worth it

and everything has physics applied to it? like the clothes to the wind etc. etc. I remember turning on physx and everythign felt really more realistic, on the other hand my old gtx 480 couldn't handle the framerate at the time

basicly it adds more realistic explosions and particle effects. oh and dynamic clothing. (look at the difference of the coat when vito kicks the door in @ 0:36 with physX turned off his coat looks like its made of wood. with it on it flows to the movement and contours of his body. if your machine can run it with physX on at a good frame rate (by good im talking over 50FPS average) then the game WILL look better no question. if you can't run with physX ... no Biggy the game still looks great.

@WARl0cKpt that may not hold out to well. the 5870 is a fair bit stronger then the 5770 but if u turn it on low or medium then maybe it will work.,

@BlacksVideos no, they do not have only n-Vidia PC graphics cards have PhysX and only PC have DirectX 10 & 11 ;)

Phsyx adds destructrible enviroment. Try launching the game and on the first mission shoot the statue of Mussolini

@millhauz Nope. The people that are working with Mafia 2s optimizations, rendering etc. for the Playstation 3 system is ''Massive Bear Studios'' which is an up and coming development studio in Vancouver. Just go to their official site and check it out.

This has to be the worst example of physx ever.

It is funny how 10 years later we see those effects as "meh, dropping wall pieces, normal", but I remember WHOA... effect at those times.

What recording software did you use?

@WARl0cKpt if u ook at E5ridez video on mafia 2 he has Physx turned on and still get awesome performance just from a 5870. there are very few places that take a huge hit. so if u were to probably have a crossfire set up then Pnysx would run like butter on ur system.

I think Physx isn't a feature designed for every game. In this demo, physx is a waste. The effects could be artificially implemented without physx and nobody would know the difference.

@Danny7930 Physx might be nice although I find it it highly unrealistic. My coat never moves like that and how the fuck do you get so many glass shards by shooting a small piece of a window. It might look a bit better, but the performance is lower too. BTW GTX 480 sucks. HD5870 all the way.

Лично для меня - разницу не признал, чуть больше отколось тут и сям, осколки упади там, обещанные взрывы где? Мож кто повнимательней и попридирчивее, но у меня восторга Физикс невызвал. Его попросту нужно высматривать, а ФизХ по прежнему остаеться фичей Нвидиа, которую впринципе способен обработать и цп, все зависит от движка игры (пример Хавок)

@quangluu96 What? I can simply put my GPU in charge of PhysX in driver settings. I never used some hybrid PhysX or something, i even don´t know it exists :D. That´s wierd.... When it comes to bigger battles, my fps drops to 20, not less. That is good to me, since i never had a good PC. and sorry for that asshole, i don´t know why i wrote it...

@quangluu96 Everyone have different needs :D, i am good with 30fps - hell, even 20fps is good for me. I am still a student so i can´t get enough money to buy hi-end pc, but my current one is still good.

Ha lags the crap on my amd card....i was confused when i turned it off and nothing changes for +40 fps....like no difference

@quangluu96 This video completely disproved that. .2 FPS slower with PhysX on, but a lot more detail. Don't be sad because your system can't handle it.

I played game with and without physx. Don't notice a thing of better physics or detail at all... My dedicated physx card is barely used for 5-8%. To me, this physx thing is just a big scam from nvidia. Barely used by mafia2 and all the same it can easily be done on multi-core cpu. Note: from the hundreds of people working on the game, just ONE guy worked on physx. (source: the credits)
