Donncha Dúlaing introduces music from De Dannan and Maura O’Connell.
Here they are now with Maura O’Connell in great voice.
Singer Maura O’Connell joined traditional Irish music group De Dannan from 1981 to 1982. This recording of the song ‘Maggie’ was made in October 1981. De Dannan members include John McDonagh, Charlie Piggott, Frankie Gavin, Jackie Daly and Alec Finn.
The song ‘Maggie’ featured on the album Star-Spangled Molly (1981).
This episode of ‘Donncha at Bantry House’ was broadcast on 14 February 1982. The presenter is Donncha Ó Dúlaing.
‘Donncha at Bantry House’ was an eight-part music series presented by Donncha Ó Dúlaing from the stately home in Bantry, County Cork. It was similar in format to his previous television series, ‘Donncha at Adare’. The first episode was broadcast on 31 January 1982 and the last on 21 March 1982. The series was produced by Niall Mathews.

Who would not want to live in a very fine and splendid old mansion like this and have your own house band so each morning for breakfast and also in the evening you could sit down and listen to the beautifully singing voice of Maura O’Connell and De Dannan this band of brilliant musicians playing their music for you and you relaxed after a hard day at the races, telling stories, laughing out loud and touring around the roads of Connemara stopping off to have a pint or two of the purest and collest Guinness in the anchent old pubs that money could buy. How I wish that I was still living in my old mansion of long ago but times have changed and I spent my legacy far too quickly and foolishly buying drinks, cigarettes lunch for everyone

Not me...old mansions are impossible to heat and the plumbing rarely works...then you have to pay the band as they hardly working for nothing,

@@alllovingcowherdboy4475 If you owner an old mansion, it would have large fireplaces, your home would be surrounded by tall trees, loads of free firewood. and lots of bands would love to play for free just a few drinks, some fine home cooked food and to be allowed to bring their family and friends along for the party. Well that the way if would plan it if God granted me ownership of a fine old mansion, I promise I would be nice to the Neighbours as long as they did not trespass on my land and did not steal apples from my orchard

The both of them and Dolores Keane have voices in the upper stratosphere of artistic genius and impossible to truly compare to each other. It’s like trying to compare Monet, Degas and Van Gogh. They are all amazing!
