As a kid in Atlanta I went to those Dominique Wilkins runs at the old Omni. I saw more of those games than NBA at the time. Good times

I just mentioned in a post one of the summer league charity games where Dominique played that I attended. This was a 1 off fundraiser for a school. I was only 11 -12 years old and thought this particular fundraiser game was in Macon, GA but it may very have been in Atlanta at the Omni. I wasn’t driving and after reading your post I may have to contact the organizer of the game I referenced to see if it was in Macon or ATL.

Pick-up games with elite players is actually more exciting than real NBA games. I attended college in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and around late August Duke, UNC, NC State guys would have essentially 1 week of all day runs before heading to training camp. I remember going to the gym to lift weights (1993, 94 or 95) and as I walked through the student center gym the following guys were playing pick-up. Grant Hill, Jerry Stackhouse, Christian Laettner, Rasheed Wallace, Bob Hurley, Brian Davis, Eric Montross, George Lynch, Brian Reese, Derrick Phelps, Jeff Capel, Cherokee Parks. I “think” Tom Gugliotta was there as well. I was there for 3 hours and never made it to the weightroom.

Some of them train and still play 82 games and some don't but injuries are largely due to more AAU basketball as compared to before as well as more training both in open runs and trainers as well.

@@carrollantwon And LeBron? Wade is far more acrobatic and shifty in the air, also quicker, faster and more explosive than even LeBron at his best. And with LeBron he always struggles against teams that seal the paint off like San Antonio and Boston with guys like Duncan and Garnett as the anchors. Wade could score in the mid range and take over games far easier than LeBron and doesn’t need to get in the paint like LeBron. Also wade had floaters, euros going right or left with his right or left, post ups, slashes off the ball, is a closer. That era fits wade game far more than LeBrons. Also they would be more physical with LeBron, they’d be hesitant with wade especially the way he gets defenders to bite on his fakes. Lastly, They’d send Lebron to the line nonstop and we all know he avoids late game free throws, while wade relishes those moments. Alright class is over
@datsapaddlin
@datsapaddlin Жыл бұрын
@@redpillrich Wade was a beast but more explosive than Lebron??? Stop it. Lebron has problems with finesse shooting teams not physical teams. He almost beat the Celtics as the only star let’s stop that. He would be fine in the 80s because it was a inside out game and he could be more physically imposing on both ends unlike now. Wade would be great as well but he would be more prone to injury and would only be great for so many seasons.
