That is because this, my friend, is a combo deck and a Storm based combo deck no less. Lots of cards being played in one turn is what it's all about.

On the issue of collectible card games AI. Komani had been trying to develop a reasonable AI for YUGIOH for about 6 years now, and any player with a reasonable deck who knows what they are doing can easily beat the AI they came up with. And if you think designing an AI for YUGIOH is hard enough, keep in mind that YUGIOH was designed to be a less complicated version of MTG, so yeah.

He starts with 4 loyalty counters. +1: Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain haste until end of turn. -1: Gain Control of target creature until end of turn. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn. -6: Put 5 4/4 dragons with flying into play.

ya that how i am all my cards are from 1993 to 1997 and im just strating to get into magic again because of xbox 360 and Magic online yes summoning sickness is still in the rules

Yes, basically side boards are 15 cards you can switch in between matches. Not including the 1st match which you had to play using the cards listed for you deck.

Yes, after the first game you and your opponent can switch cards from main to sideboard and reverse, at any point in the tornament play, your sideboard must contain either 15 or 0 cards.

If you get a "godhand," grapeshot elf combo can be pulled off on turn 2. Godhand = 2 land, 2 nettles, heritage, glimpse, + 1 more elf. t1: nettle t2: nettle/heritage, tap for 3. glimpse, then elf.

I use the dice in several ways: To keep track of my life total (If I go above 20, I sometimes use my phone, lol) and to keep track of counters on certain cards (i.e. quest counters, 1/1 counters)

@EisakuKUN Creatures that have the (tap) symbol can't use their ability unless if they have haste or are no longer summoning sick. Since Heritage Druid has just a colon (:), the ability can be used even if the elves have summoning sickness.

Actually, i think you misunderstood - it's not whether or not sports (or some other socially acceptable hobby) is your hobby, it's whether or not a collectible card game is. The fact that you play sports doesn't mean you're not a geek but playing sports doesn't mean you can't be a geek either (if we continue working with the probably broken logic I started with the previous post).

It's an old account. If you had director status before they made the 10 minute rule then you get to go beyond the 10 minutes.

they dont tap there summon sick cards because, a card that comes into play with summoning sickness isnt tapped. it jsut cant attack, but it can block

i figured out many years ago that magic will always have cards that are better than others, so they have to keep making new and better ones to beat the old ones. this will continue until we have turn one kills. if magic continues strong for more years. (yes i have too much time on my hands)

Fun fact no turn ones except eternal formats and when they do good it gets banned so not much has changed in 12 years deffinetly power creep but gets curbed quick with bans

Basically summoned cards does not really need to be tapped at all as stated below they cannot just attack. Will it make a difference you may ask? Yes it will, for there are cards that targets tapped cards in play. You may want to see the card Heritage Druid, it produces 3 green mana tapping 3 elves.(According to the game at 6:55) And for the rare, I quitted magic since the invasion block but I'm pretty sure that not all their cards are rare.

i believe that this is because he wants to have as much mana in his mana pool as he possibly could. If he didn't, he would eventually run out, and he probably wouldn't be able to make more because his mana producers wouldn't be able to untap again at that point. he wanted to make sure he didn't run out of mana.

first game... how did that guy generate 2 mountains for the grapeshot? he only had one land to do it with... his elves were only generating forests

For what it's worth, though, LSV did play a version of combo elves that won by Emrakul in Modern for the Community Cup, which was the first Modern event ever. He 4-0'd, and they realized that the deck was too good with Glimpse for Modern at the time.

What Evan Erwin does are basically recaps of games, summarizing them. What BDM and Randy do are commentaries. When you watch basketball, you usually have two "idiots" rambling about the game and what not, same goes to all the other sports. So, if you came to see a summary look for the written versions of the matches. Reading those won't take you two hours... I'm sure.

Exactly HOW was Vargas able to play red-mana Grapeshot in what appears to be a mono-green deck? Also, what did he have out that let him tap and untap the same cards multiple times in a single round?

8 devoured elves = 20/20 dragon. So unless the opponent has an Essence warden, you've still got the bulk of your elves, if you only devoured the ones you need to. Of course storm is a very hard ability to stop and he did win the tourney with grapeshot so I'm not aiming to prove he many an error here ;)

dude it takes skill to find they synergy fo that deck it would take you alot longer then 6 months to get enought at this game to put a deck to gether that every card will effect every other deck ... been playing for 7 years and impressed with the synergy in that deck. send me a deck list you made with half that synergy and grats to you.

Funny, they don't need you to be impressed to play the deck. I don't think people care about the skill level of the deck, as long as it can win. There's no rule saying that you have to have some complicated deck to win a pro tour.

what i meant whit "you need a huge brain" is that you have to use it to find cheap cards that equals the effects of the more expensive ones or use a hole set of cheap card in a killer deck

Nah if you indulge in something to the point of it being a hobby, and under the condition that it is not a socially acceptable hobby(like, say, most sports), you're a geek and it's a geeky activity. Alternately, you can just not care about what labels strangers put on you :)

Also, a lot of cards are merely variations on a theme - I can pretty much tell how good most of the cards in a new set are first time i see then because they work a lot like old cards. Take the similarity between a classic like Terror and Bone Splinters, or Knight 0f Meadowgrain and Tundra Wolves. Some cards take a while to settle enough to tell, such as Nyxathid from the upcoming set. It needs a lot of cards to support it, so it isn't quite a Tarmogoyf but it still seems pretty powerful.
