We watched this on half speed so it could last twice as long. + You weren't to know this, because you obviously bought it day 1, but we have now included an extra chapter with Peter Turner on put-pocketing ideas. It'll in in all customer's Ellusionist accounts automatically.

Your not alone David. I did the same thing with the Stack watch when I thought it was scratched badly but it was just the film. Went as far as contacting E’s customer service who were wonderful and let me down easy 😂

Nice "toy" but just so obvious you are not going to fool anyone. A good item to be included in a beginners magic kit. If you have $30 to spend have fun.

Thank you for the review. I am excited as I ordered this on day 1, but I am on vacation in Hawaii so it is waiting for me till I get home. I was actually surprised at the price. When I got the pre-hype I thought it was going to cost way more than it was.

I've labored extensively to develop the ability to make coins appear and disappear. To spend just $30.00 to do the same thing is unfair! lol! Definitely worth that to appear like a coin magician! I will probably add this to my ever-growing repertoire of magic. Thank you David.

I have not read all of the comments but my first thought viewing the trailer for the watch is "Isn't it weird for someone to be wearing a watch that is not even a functional watch! Who does that?" I assume the first thing a spectator would ask while examining the watch is "Why do you wear a watch that doesn't work? Is it dead or what?" ;)

@@magicorthodoxy I do not have a smart watch or Fit Bit. If the Black Ops watch had a hi-tech manually illuminated face, that would be something! But very costly and difficult to work out I can imagine. ;)

Basically every bank has half dollars and will exchange an equal amount of cash for them. Whenever I'm running low I just walk in with $20 and get change entirely in half dollars haha

I love this trick. It really looks good David. And thank you for the great review. My only question is if you hand it out for inspection, what if they push the buttons, and get nothing? Would they wonder why the watch doesn't work? Maybe I'm over thinking it.

If you are a tech gadget person like I am, people ask me about my watch. People also ask me what time it is. If you don't own a smart watch and suddenly have one on your wrist People will ask about too.

I purchased 3 of these coins and had Kuepper mill one into a flipper for me when they first came out. It's beautiful and works perfectly. I do some patter about having found them while diving (being from Florida has its benefits here). I talk about how pirate coins are cursed and will vanish to rejoin their bretheren if you don't keep a close eye on them. This watch will just add to the routine!

Do I have to use the pirate coin or can I use another 1/2 dollar? If the insert that's gimmicked is the pirate coin, am I limited by it? Also, an interesting patter idea may be something about the Black Pearl which often vanished in the pirate movies...seems to match the coin as well.

I checked out the Ellusionist trailer as soon as I got the email. 30$ great, I am a watch guy great, versatility options great, only down side is it is not a real watch but in the description on the web site it said somebody figured out a version with a real watch. Considering it is not a real watch it loses edc slot to a real watch. But love it and considering getting it. Thank you for this awesome review and it seems that Ellusionist has updated the product since launch. Schweet!!

@@GarciaAndy33 Jeorgie Brett is credited in the description on Ellusionist for coming up with a version for a mechanical watch. I am hoping this means functional and it does state it will potentially be feature on Ellusionist as well.

It's a cool idea. A little awkward movement on the vanish of the coin. I turn the watch 180 degrees face downwards. I find it is easier to slip the coin into position. A downside is if you don't remove the coin from the watch they fall out and you loose them. Happened twice to me already. Remove the coin until ready to perform.

You said one of the pirate coins is gaffed so one side is black. If you use a real half dollar, how can you conceal the visible side when it's loaded?

Are there any concerns that the face of the watch never lights up to display the time or whatever? What if someone asks out of curiosity what kind of watch it is because maybe they just think it's a nice watch? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most watches that have a face that goes to sleep and wakes when in motion or activated tend to look more square-ish like an Apple Watch? What do you do if at the end of a performance someone literally asks you what time it is and you can't use your watch to tell them. Do you claim the battery is dead?

lol I collect watches and that thing with the film I've done before on some of my real watches and would feel real pissed that I got sold a watch with a cheap crystal before feeling real stupid that it was actually just a sticker I scratched.

It does look a wee bit toy-like to be fair and a little rough around the edges in close up but sure you could smooth those bits down .There is real genius there too and very affordable so might well pick this up at some point .Great stuff .Cheers David.

One more negative: If you normally wear a smartwatch (or any watch), you have to sacrifice that for this gimmick. That means you can't tell the time, get notifications, or do other smartwatch peek tricks until you switch your watch back. But who wants to carry their real watch in their pocket? Lol

I was wondering the same thing. I would guess that BOW would be more if you didn't already wear a watch and Catch if you have one? Not sure as I'm not familiar with the mechanism of Catch. Also, BOW seems pretty fun, but I'm not a big fan of putting the coin in close proximity to the watch or even calling it into question. For me the gimmick shouldn't even cross the spectators mind. I'm sure there are ways to get around that though.

I’m having so much fun playing with Catch these days! It fits nicely under my Fitbit Charge 2. Even when I miss the “catch”, which is rarer as days pass by, you can somehow pretend to be in control. No need for the BOW at all. But nice review as always, David!

I believe the watch strap on black ops would accommodate the catch gimmick it looks wide enough, so in theory after you vanish the half dollar if asked to repeat or if you can do it again you could borrow a quarter or smaller and use catch with the different method to amaze.

if it were a "real watch" would you take it off and say "inspect this?" I would not. I think if you are good at misdirection and you practice well, nobody should have to "inspect" your stuff

Love your reviews always come here before I buy something. That said I call BS on watch is able to be inspected. ITS RUBBER AND DOESNT TURN ON. Cmon your better than this.

My b.a.d keeps falling out. Have had it since November. I tried gluing it. I had to buy refills and more coins i got the illuminati coins. Other than that. It is pretty cool and the tutorial is worth the purchase One day it popped out when I went to the market. So make sure it fits snug. For the coin and not tight on the wrist.
