Great video review. I plan on buying the Carpenter Coins. I want to point out something: I have an old CSB set and the centavo has the copper rubbing off. I could never figure out why the centavo coin "wore out" - even though I didn't use it that much over the years. Thanks to your video, I now know why. It was a fake centavo coin !!! I'm surprised I've never heard of that before in any book or video. Thanks for the video. Subscribed.

Thanks David. This makes me think it would be great to do a "Coin Magic for Card Magicians." maybe in the Member Section? I'm also not a coin guy but have been trying to find some to mix things up. Some I've worked with on/off are Double Deception Deluxe (which really is amazing), Winged Silver, Hopping Halves, Debajo. Incidentally one of my favorite Jack routines is Ultimate Hold 'Em. Practically all happens in the spectator's hands.

Crazy...I took Jack's expert folio to work today to read at lunch. But seeing jack with coins is like seeing Roth with cards...looks "strange" . Jack's the man tho...folio is full of great stuff.

Love your honest reviews! One addendum though. This is the standard C/S/B gimmick, but with an addition that allows for some great 2 ahead routines.

Excellent review! I do agree the explanation video is too short and camera angles could have been better. But with this set, there are so many options out there for CSB routines. Thanks again for the review!

Coming from someone who is a coin guy, most of my greatest effects I can do is not with anything that's gimmicked, it's all done with sleights.

just an fyi with scotch and soda you dont have to actually bang them apart. you can separate them in half a second in your pocket or hand. put coin in ring flat on top of your first and second finger. then press in the center downward with your thumb and it will fall out.

I own a set , it’s part of my professional set, it is expensive but if you are a working professional it is 100% worth it, great routines included and they work ALL the time. Hope that helps.

I bought this coin set but I prefer Paul Vigil's routin for his CBS. Carpenter coins set is better though, I've heard it comes with more stuff than Vigil's CBS.

I have hopping half, scotch and soda, dime and penny, $1.35 locking and a spare half shell, but I never had a CSB set. They cost too much and even at $75 I can't afford it at the present time. I'm sure with a sun and moon coin, a shell and some sleights something similar could be done, yes? I'd have to go to Bobo and explore. Unlike others, I am still working as it is a life sustaining job as the government calls it and all my income goes to pay bills. I have very little to spare.

Honestly I think the johnson csb looks better I have had it for 20 plus Years and still looks and works beautifully and back then it was still I believe $80 or more then

isn't this just a more expensive version of Cooper, Silver, Brass Transposition (CSB). You can buy CSB coin set for half the price of these Carpenter Coins. Sterling Magic has CSB coins for half the price of these carpenter coins.

"Terrible" is a bit harsh. There is no way it's "terrible" - like I said it just doesn't LOCK - it "lightly covers"

magicorthodoxy 95% of shells don’t lock. So that’s normal. I’ve just heard the shell isn’t deep enough to cover properly. But I’m spoiled. I only use Schoolcraft coins.

@@magicorthodoxy I don't get the reference to a Scotch and Soda in the same realm as C/S/B set. That is apples and oranges. Also, you don't need to "go backstage" to reset anymore. They make magnetic scotch and soda sets that a spec can handle "somewhat lightly" and you can quickly reset in your hand on way to the next table.

I returned mine to Vanishing Inc because of that. Even at $75, I think the shell coverage should be better. My shell covered roughly 50% at best. The shell also teters (for lack of a better word), so it "chatters" a bit. Even David described it as "squishy". What I would've liked was instruction by Andi, as his brief demo certainly looked smoother than Mr Carpenter's
