B RS but i like the original, too. it's not just the old "asking for the hand" like she's a thing. what i like is that he doesn't have to ask the father to marry his daughter, since they both can marry anyway. he still does that and adapts to the fathers conservative views: he even wears his best suit and all and the father still says no. stereotype says that young, liberal people are "rude" and the song is about the old-fashioned father being rude, since the protagonist accommodates his needs and shows respect. the father, though, shows no respect for him.

The song makes so much more sense when it's a same sex couple. Instead of to men fighting over the property of a girl, it's about a girl with a homophobic farther who won't let her marry the love of her life. You've made the song so much better.

Thank you for not changing the pronouns. Even if you're not attracted to women, it makes the song have a lot more depth when you consider it from the perspective of a woman seeking the approval of her girlfriend's father. And your voice is absolutely stunning!

I personally hate it when cover artists change the pronouns to match the sex they prefer. It's much better when they keep it the same. It doesn't mean they're gay. In fact, that just shows how secure they are about their sexuality. And if they are gay why the hell does it even matter? Come on, people. Grow the hell up.

Some of you guys really don't need to be so rude. You don't have to like her voice, but there is no need to voice it in such a blunt manner. Isn't there a saying: "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all"? In addition, there is no reason to draw conclusions about Kina just from her hair style and singing "marry that girl" in the cover. For the people that assume her to be lesbian (there's nothing wrong with being lesbian, I want to say Kina is already either married, or engaged. But, that's just my humble opinion. On a positive note, I think that Kina covered this song in an excellent way! I personally liked it a lot. Keep it on, Kina!

It's amazing how if someone decided to sing a song the way it was written and DOESN'T change the pronouns, people decide the question the person's sexuality. Whether or not she is a lesbian or straight, that doesn't matter. What matters is that this was a beautiful cover.

Me and my wife are last minute highschool sweethearts my plan was to get away and join the navy and 6 months before i was 18 i fell in love. Told my recruiter to push my ship out date 3 months. I'm only making conclusions based on what you've done so far. If it's so wrong then ask your higher power why some girls like other girls and some guys like other guys. Isn't your higher power all good, all knowing, and all powerful? If it's truly wrong then why did he create people like that?
