Very honest review buddy. I like how you highlight MS's pro's and con's and don't just say that ."..it's great" and has no flaws, like some other reviwers do. These things aren't cheap at all and your viewers want to know what they're getting, without any BS or lip service paid to the manufacturer...so well done on the honesty of you reviews dude!

The engineering on these at this scale is simply mind blowing

I like Magic Square as it is, soft materials, not much paint with mat colors, involved but fun transformations, great sculpt and very good articulation. This set is a good set and the combiner mode is great. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.

Best G1 Devy out of the legends corner, maybe even out of all of them. Next level engineering, very tough yet flexible materials, fantastic bot modes and alt modes (except for LH his open alt back end). I'm very happy with the intricate transformations, glad MS is giving us these type of designs. All the whining about it being too much, go play with the other, 2 step transforming hollow body shell "combiner" Devy :-) Good thing we've got options.

As a NewAge fanboy, I somehow enjoy this set more than anything at the moment. The NA Devestator is weak sauce compared to this one. Thing is, you gotta practice with this combiner or it won't be fun. If you don't transform the entire set and combine at least three times, you can't really judge it. I know people want things to be perfect right off the bat but sometimes you have to slow down to really appreciate some things. I missed like seven steps the first time I did combine mode and it still came together fine. However, now that I know it better, it all goes together super sturdy and its really fun.

I almost lost my F’in mind trying to transform devastator. First off my long haul came in with the arms installed backwards.. and the transformation is a Real PITA for combined mode.. can’t get the holes to line up on the torso in chest area.

I only collect Newage but went with MS just this once for Devastator and he is one of my favorite toys in my whole legends collection. Just received my 2nd set so I can keep him combined while also playing with the bots/alts

My Hook haas an arm that likes to come out when I'm trying to pose him. Is this a normal thing for others? Should I send him bnack and ask for another?

I'm pretty sure the hands on hook need to be flipped the other way around to get everything to fit easier. It doesn't matter if it looks better that way, the tolerances are really tight on them.

Super complicated and awful instructions. I could see it being really fun and satisfying once you master it. I've been fighting my way through them, and actually appreciative of MS' softer plastic to absorb my mistakes.

I had just the first set of MS Constructicons, and my experience with the QC, tolerances, and clearances just made me nope the fuck out. But I love the way they look. I feel that these would have made EXCELLENT MP scale figures, but well-meaning mediocre Legends figures.

Thanx 4 the 📹 Mack 🙏👍, I've always said if newage and magic square ever did a collaboration 🤯 we would have the best of both 🌎, magic square with their mp like engineering and hypertoon asthetic and newage with their paint and die-cast they would give mp's a run for their 💰, but with that being said I really don't like the colors on any of these constructicons the mute green and purple don't work imo, but the combined mode is a BEAST..🙏🙏📹👍and of course they're DECEPTICONS 😈💪

Tbh I don't get the material complaints. They feel very sturdy imo, and not cheap or anything. The transformations are MP level, and not too bad when you've figured it out. Should be easier for legends though.

With Magic Square's approach to engineering they HAVE TO use this kind of not user-friendly plastic otherwise it will break a million times before you go through one transformation, especially at legend scale. They are able to make transformation joints and panels so thin solely because of the nylon, so they can go places no other companies dare imagine. But I still don't see the virtues in that. Sure the poseability, robot mode & alt mode accuracies are impressive, and being able to design something so complex is cool, but at what costs? I really like figures that abide to "less is more" engineering. Unique Toys Prime, MP inferno, FT Beachcomber come to mind

I like complex transformations and I like Legends (sometimes), but... this whole set just doesn't look fun and I agree that the lack of detail in lieu of being "cartoon-accurate" just makes them super-dull, especially for the price.

i love this set. I love magic square. I like newage but ultimately, i just prefer the look in all modes of these guys. Devastator is not even the clear winner of how i would want to display them.

Frustration loading. That's all I'm going to say. Be prepared for getting Hook combined with Long Haul lol.

So will this just be Magic Square VS Newage, or will you go the extra distance and include DX-9 for a three-way?
