Another great video. I'm also a big fan how NewAge says up front the different versions that will be released for a mold. They get me every time for at least a few figures lol. Always the ex and transparent versions. I think for Optimus Prime I have 6 versions from NewAge. They do obscure recolors like the toxic version (toxitron) that I enjoy having but don't want to devote masterpiece level space to.

I’m in the same vote. I like Magic Square but don’t like how they do the repaints without warning. Newage looks great but the scale is crazy.

It is quite frustrating when you try to collect G1-accurate TF figures but you could only do that by buying from many companies instead of one.

Wheeljack's height is listed as 4m, Cyclonus is 7m, so is pretty much spot on. Hound is the same size as Wheeljack, and should come just above Prime's waist, as highlighted in the very clip you showed, at the beginning. Newage nails scale; Magic Square is all over they place.

There are 2 clips I found with Hound and Wheeljack and one shows them the same height and the other Jack is way smaller. There are too many inconsistencies in the animation to be certain though
@yunoyuluvit6 ай бұрын
@@tydiriumhanger1320 The scale chart has the majority of the carbots being the same height, about the same as Prime's waist, with the likes of Ratchet and Trailbreaker being a bit taller, reaching Prime's chest level. Newage heavily leans on the animation style and scale. Magic Square opt for a more bulky, boxy style and their own scaling.

Cyclonus is huge.

When I started collecting Legends scale I had to decide between MS and Newage as they do not scale well together. MS scales higher and Newage scales closer to the show and they scale wonderfully together. That said I like MS, but they are so hard to get and it seems their repaints are short runs which has forced me to only buy their combiners. I'd love to see MS do better, but Newage just has much better paint, easier to buy, and they offer so many more options for toy, toon, diaclone, G2, etc. designs. I wish MS the best, but it seems lately they have dropped the ball when at one point they were doing so well. At some point Newage will pass them on Menasor and Brutiucus and I have to wonder where they go next.

As someone who collects both brands equally, I feel like MS tends to get dismissed far too quickly just because their figures don't feature the same level of shine of NA's. That's my opinion, of course, but a lot of folks seem to be very easily blinded by the bling. If there's no 'shine & sheen', then it's automatically kinda cheap. I don't get it, there's so much more than that. Engineering, complexity, density, design... How is MS dropping the ball when they just completed a Bruticus / Combacticons set which - once again in my opinion - looks sensational and is the most impressive release at Legends scale in terms of overall aesthetics, toon accuracy, quantity of parts and transformation's ingenuity?

Yep I would like to see Magic Square make some changes to their releases and offer a painted version along side an unpainted version. I actually pick and choose each figure on it's own merit and I feel there are many figures that will display well mixing these 2 companies
@jamievaughn14856 ай бұрын
@@Galdelico They are dropping the ball as far as releases go. It's all repaints with no new figures. Meanwhile Newage has dropped almost every G1 character outside of a handful now, including the 3 of the 5 Dinobots. I love MS, but they just stopped making new stuff. I started fresh in 2023 with Legends and with Newage I have nearly 3 times the amount of figures that MS has, and on top of that MS figures are very hard to get. Most sell out quickly and never come back. I have their Bruticus and Menasor and they are great, but I am wondering if they stopped making new stuff?

@@jamievaughn1485 I agree with you on that. MS surely has a more erratic production, but I would say that's in line with the majority of 3P out there. Newage almost feels like mainline first party, in terms of schedule and new releases, and that surely makes me happy (my NA displays are quite dense, even if I only collect G1 toon and have no interest in toy/G2/other repaints). It is what it is, but once again, I don't believe they stopped making new stuff at all, and actually expect new reveals pretty soon.

@@Galdelico Hope so friend, I want to see more from them for sure.

Couldn't agree more. The MS do often far better looking, clean from each side, great articulated bots. On par with masterpiece even, if not for the paint and sometimes limited accessories (especially on repaints) where NA shines. Their marketing though sucks - the announcements are few and late, the 'photos' unfair (oversaturated colors suggesting paint where there is none on the A hound and ironhide), naming inconsistent with the finish ('ex' is generally painted, 'A' - it depends) and the release runs too short (they sell 'warehouse backlog' of soundwave/tapes each black friday on their website, it sells in 5 minutes, but that does not make them do a reissue). And issuing painted ironhide couple a months after the previous 'painted one' is just a *-+& move :( I keep my fingers they get aroud and do better

I wish there was a better way to offer feed back to MS. I wonder if they manufacture artificial scarcity like Fanstoys did years ago

I don't like MS's plastic or paint. I do like MS combiners better. I love Newage's slight retools and repaint character variants. I have the newer MS hound, I don't want their older one. I think the newer one looks much better.
