Welcome to my comparison of Magic Square's MS-B31 Detective withe the second release of the mold, MS-B31A. This is their version of a Legends Scale G1 Transformers Autobot Hound. Both are amazing figures, straight out of the Transformers cartoon from the 80s.

Great video, Memo! I have both versions too, and I agree that they are both great, but if I had known that MS were going to release this version, I wouldn't have gotten first version, as I really didn't like the muted face sculpt. So now I am doing the same as you: keep the first release in alt mode, and the second release in bot mode 🙂

I have both of these and really can't decide which I like better. If anything I agree with you that the original works better in alt mode.

Don't they even have a newer paint job now? Looks like a Dec 2023 release has one with more metallic green. Not sure if its just a paint change. My windshield broke on my last one, so I'm hoping maybe they made that hinge a bit better.

They did release a new painted version. He looks great but I'm sticking with the 2 that I have already. 😁
