Is it just me or did he wait a whole extra turn before snapping the surgical on life from the loam?
@supaaznjigga
@supaaznjigga 5 жыл бұрын
reid wanted to try and snapcaster surgical the life from the loam, but he had always kept up 1 mana plus horizon canopy to dredge in response to the surgical flash back, so he ends up waiting only to try and fail again the following turn in desperation, but this was an auto-loss for Reid tbh. Maybe he should have waited on surgical for loam instead of dark depths when he saw his opponent discard it to mox diamond. That was a tell imo, but oh well.

@supaaznjigga 5 жыл бұрын
lol, true. I really dislike the fact that his grixis deck doesnt have at least 1 basic mountain in it for the back to basics/miracles matchup, which would also help against wasteland strategies. I don't like the scenario of: commit your last red source in the form of volcanic island or badlands to pyroblast back to basics when miracles will usually have 1-2 counterspells to protect and if you can't resolve pyroblast, you're basically screwed.
@TheGingervit1s
@TheGingervit1s 5 жыл бұрын
@@supaaznjigga the problem is that basic mountain is otherwise the worst card in the deck by a large margin. It's ultimately a UB deck splashing red more than an even 3 colours. Maybe if wasteland and BtB were huge concerns I could see actually putting a mountain in the sideboard but it's such a liability against other decks like reanimator, storm, etc by not allowing you to hymn on time.
@supaaznjigga
@supaaznjigga 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheGingervit1s Indeed, I know it is mainly a UB deck splashing red. Having a basic mountain somewhere in your top 9-10 cards drawn for the game probably isn't something you necessarily want to be drawing as it may slow down your double black mana by turn 2-3 while also having access to some blue mana for counterspell/mana drain/ponder/brainstorm/etc. played the previous turns, but there are a lot of can-trips in the deck that when utilized properly help you hit your mana curve properly. You wouldn't see the basic mountain in your opening hand or the top 3 cards of your deck where it could be detrimental to draw early 83% of the time.. vs. the ability to fetch a basic mountain for the wasteland/B2B matches (20%+ of the meta) makes running it worth it. I can agree with your argument of perhaps running 1 basic mountain in the sideboard rather than main deck depending on what you believe your meta will be like.
