This is totally unrelated, but watching you over the past few months has genuinely encouraged me to lose weight and get fit. I’m a 5’9 male and in the 300s. It’s bad. Life is awful, and watching you climb so elegantly is so beautiful. The way I’m living now, I have zero chance at even attempting to climb. My end goal is being able to climb, and to climb well. To be able to do fun things like this, without worrying about seriously hurting myself. To LIVE. I’ve lost 20 lbs already and go to the gym at least 4 days a week, preferably 5 or 6 on good weeks (: You’re amazing man, thank you for doin what you do (:

You mentioned talking to Guinness about getting some records, but I would just not bother with them to be honest. They charge insane fees to get an official judge out to watch you do something. You'd be much better off doing regular collabs like this, or just making some "Breaking a record" videos like you've been doing. Guinness is on the downturn anyway, and in certain fields (such as gaming), they're already seen as an entity who is just trying to make money off of making other people's work "official". A video is as official as it gets these days. Being Guinness official adds absolutely nothing of value, and just costs you money.
@imagzz4942
@imagzz4942 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. Although they might do it for free as a sponsored video, however honestly I personally wouldn't really want that. I just don't agree with their policy and how they work. Not that I wouldn't watch the video, because I probably will (lol), but I agree that just making collabs or "breaking a record" videos would be best.

@in ter Nah, it's pretty well known that the business model of guiness world record revolve around people wanting to have a "guinness record". So, the guy choose a silly record, pay up guinness (huge amount), who sends a guy watching the other guy doing silly things, and award him with the record. Karl Jobst did a piece about that: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fq-SmKlhx8yVd58.html Guiness is a joke nowadays, Magnus should stay away from them.
@tikkj
@tikkj 3 жыл бұрын
@in ter They charge $10k per day for the official adjudicator plus expenses including 4 star hotel stay and airfare. It's a ridiculous cost, but for the most part it's aimed at businesses that can write it off as a business marketing expense, not private individuals. As a pleb you can submit your record attempt online for free (3 month waiting time), or pay $800 for expedited review. No official man with a clipboard for that though.

Awesome video! Really got me in the training vibes. Oh btw, in case some of you guys are curious about the gymnast injuries, a friend of mine was researching both in paper and in the field about them. She said it was mainly due to overextending articulations, which most of olympic gymnastics exercises use. I can relate as an ex-gymnast my two shoulders are kind of destroyed, but its ok xD

I truly love this, the variety of athleticism and displaying the strengths and weaknesses of different athletes. My own background definitely biases my opinion, but I still think it would be fun: get a wrestler of similar height/weight and well-accomplished and have him try your idea of hard, and then you try his. Martine Dugrenier was a gymnast before she won three world championships as a wrestler.

That was pretty awesome. You guys should do one and add an adept at Aṣṭāṅga Vinyasa yoga to the trio. There are likely be poses/exercises or āsana that will be incredibly difficult or too hard for you guys and some that will be too hard for the yogi/yoginī. Unlike other forms of yoga, like Hatha yoga, the poses are connected in a flow, and there is as much emphasis on balance and strength as there is flexibility. It's a more intense - frmo a strength and cardio perspective - than the other forms of yoga. The things you guys do in this video - outside of the use of the rings - are common in Aṣṭāṅga Vinyasa yoga. The "L-Sit" for example is the very first exercise in the seated series, the headstands, handstands, are all just normal exercises in a workout. We/they certainly will not have anything near to the amazing grip strength you guys have, but the balance, strength, coordination will be there. It would make for an interesting video and perhaps you guys could add some recuperation poses to your routines to help you guys with those injuries in the joints and muscles and the yogi can learn some helpful tips for our poses when it comes to strength and balance.

Gymnast versus climber?! Ha! I was both. We were among the first to start dynoing in bouldering, top ropes and then routes. I do think dinoing was 1st happening simultaneously around the world in the climbing communities. But we brought it to the Boulder Colorado area 1st. And put up a lot of fluid dynamic gymnastic routine like moves. Even doing roots and bouldering traverses like Dino and gymnastic routines. I actually stopped being a gymnast when I was no longer in school, I made the transition to rock climbing easily. Situational body awareness and strength to body weight ratio with flexibility, gymnastics and rock climbing are a match made in heaven. I was lucky to be part of it early on in the 1980s. Great post guys! I found it really interesting although 30 decades too late. 😅😊 -Dinoing Don

@@sebumpostmortem Exactly. A gymnast could become a good rock climber quite quickly. But a rock climber can't become a gymnast without years of work that started young.

That comment about injuries occurring after a break applied to me. I played tennis at club level for around 30 years, during that time I spent 13 years coaching tennis, before spending 4 years walking as the major part of my next career (20000+ steps a day), time off for covid, and when I return to work suffer plantar fasciitis. Ironic I think.

I appreciate the advice on stretching; that was freeing: gentle stretching can be done without warmup … Cool!
