I dislike it for the sole reason that it makes no evolutionary sense, in a world where every other monster (even the incarnation of the devil himself) feels plausible and grounded. Magnamalo is just rule of cool, nothing else.

Some of the best monsters in the franchise and none of they're pseudo science explanations ever go much beyond "rule of cool", heck Safi'jiva looks like Donkey's Wife's gym bro cousin and it's whole explanation for existing is "its just magic... @@johnhenry3726 Literally nothing about Magnamalo feels out of place in MH its just an exotic Deviljho equivilent of the fanged wyverns family afterall, uses a branch of power tied to high calories not dissimilar to the dragon energy as its main weapon, only manifesting in unique circumstance because of meeting certain requirements in old age and basically being perpetually hormonally stressed as Scorned Magnamalo. Then its armor is stated to be its display structure for mating and its arm blades also paint it in close relation to the flying and psudeo wyverns. And its spec evo lore fits a creature that can easily be demonized and misunderstood by locals, much like most of the base Rise monsters which is a great theme to have for human monster conflict. The only pet peeve was information and lore about Magnamalo was not available to discover in game until the design books cause of its aformentioned mystery. Like for a while we didnt know its intentions or the feasability of being a predator to anything in its region until we realized the wind serpents have been messing with the ecosystem since ancient times, Magnamalo is simply the only one that can survive and benefit from the mass chaos of displaced monsters though this is not ideal for its actual lifestyle.

I do agree with more mammal based monsters it’s the same reason why I like lunagron. But will say there needs to be a point where we need to tone down body features. Tho I will say if magnamalo stays like this while newer monsters have a more world or grounded designs he could easily give value as “that one edgy kid” at school vibe in the roster. I think that could be funny and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a fan of this monster.

I agree that Magnamalo is cool but not on the we need more mammalian monsters cuz they're already raptesented enough Like, Fanged Beats are the biggest class after the core of Bird flying wyverns and elder dragons. This is then excluding all the mammalian inspired monsters that aren't fanged beasts like Magnamalo itself. I'd rather have a new invertebrate, those are criminally under represented in general.

More monsters with unique diets like diablos and barroth would be a lot more interesting than just having everything be a generic apex predator

Have you seen how this thing moves, it's incredibly fast, plus you saw how it ACTUALLY hunts in the cutscene. It doesn't hunt regularly, "vibrancy" my ass

@dragonbournee5270 that's the point. I despise this monster because it ruins the grounded nature of monster hunter. This grounded essence is why i love this franchise and magna, along with other ridiculous monsters like zinogre, brachydios, and glavenus, break the immersion that i enjoy in these games. I don't hate all flashy monsters. I simply don't think that flashy predators of any sort make sense.

@TheRealPsychoGeniusRevengeance yes it still does. In endurance hunting, camouflage is not necessary, but lightweight build is. The best examples are wolves, they have big heads, relatively small legs, and narrow torsos. They only need strong jaws, and the rest is for long-distance running. Magna has the complete opposite build, and so would be terrible at hunting no matter what kind.
