magnus is an alien. Sharp comments, acid humor and outstanding chess depth. I wish we had someone capable to really crush him so he feels motivated for real. It seems like nobody can really beat him. Its like Kelly Slater during late 2000's. He had to step out of world championships so someone could win and challange him.

Magnus understands Chess needs rivalry to gain popularity. If everybody is just nice and friendly, it won't get more interest. The more rivalry, the more the players have something to win and lose, which makes games much more interesting. Behind the cameras, I believe they have a good tone between them.

Yeah, it’s a bit weird. They were friends before the world championship. In fact, I believe Nepo’s first instagram post ever was actually a pic with magnus. I’m not really sure if magnus actually dislikes nepo or is just creating a buzz for the word championship if nepo ends up winning!

@@aryanbagga820 He's just genuinely annoyed by this stupid "psych out" strategy that Nepo thinks is so effective of blitzing out moves in classical games when you have 50 minutes remaining on the clock. He did it in the World Championship and blundered twice because of it, completely ruining his chances. Carlsen is right. It's so undisciplined.

Carlsen holds Nepo in really high regard. I remember him tweeting about Nepo's brilliant move during some tournament saying "if any player in the world can find such a move, it's Nepo". He is just frankly annoyed by his undisciplined approach, which is fair for someone of his level.

Magnus is definitely an exception to this, but generally, I don't understand why the commentator board that they make moves on is bigger than the actual game board. Priority should be to the game
@peterstans
@peterstans 2 жыл бұрын
The commentator board is where stuff happens during the broadcast. That's where different possible lines are shown and where most of the attention of the viewers go to. The actual game is just one move every 10min maybe. It doesn't need to be on the big board all the time. These are classical games not blitz, so I don't agree

@@peterstans To each their own. I can understand where you're coming from. For me, I don't like that when I watch, the announcers get so caught up in their analysis and ideas they have to be told there's a move on the board. I'd prefer if the game board was a bit bigger, so I could take a look at the position myself. I'm not claiming by any means that I'm good enough to always find the right move, but I like being able to focus on the game board and compare my ideas to what eventually gets played. I definitely get that there's not always a lot of action on the game board though
