This is a 2-hour bullet chess tournament (Lichess Titled Arena August 2020) I provided commentary on. I followed the games of World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, who played under the account "DrNykterstein" for this event. I streamed the tournament at twitch.tv/ChessNetwork. Lichess Titled Arena August 2020 is held for titled chess players only, namely Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters etc... Its $1,750 prize pool goes to the top 5 players, with 1st - $1,250, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125, 4th - $75, and 5th - $50. This tournament began on August 22nd, 2020 at 3:00 PM EST.

You can easily do it. I'm older than you and I went from 1200 to 1800+ USCF within six months when I stopped playing OTB games. My last game I drew with a candidate master. I play on lichess in the 2000-2100 range often defeating 2200+ players including a couple of 2400 players. I'm sure that if I wanted to I could earn the national master title but of course it takes the right amount of time which I don't have at the moment. If you have the time you should pursue. I'm sure you can do it.

It's not a complicated position by any means, but he saw that his knight covered g1 and he could sacrifice his queen because if rook takes and queen defends on g1 the rook can take and it will be mate under a second... under a second... It's not complicated but to see even the most basic positions so frekin fast is just mind boggling to me..

UPDATE= Magnus Carlsen has won the KATARA BULLET event which Alireza penguin naroditsky was playing prize was 15k dollar. It has the elimination system Magnus eliminated penguin and in the final, he won against naroditsky so he is the BEST in bullet also.
@Mrwutevah
@Mrwutevah 3 жыл бұрын
Uhm, no. One tourney result does not equate to a player conclusively being the best at something. Yes, Magnus has more on his belt to justify calling him the best current bullet player, but proclaiming he's simply better than Alireza seems out of place. Right now they're too neck-and-neck to decide who's stronger in the format, imo. Also, your comment oozes fanboy. Chill for a bit.
3 жыл бұрын
Mrwutevah First of all, magnus carlsen adopted Penguin, naroditsky and Alı reza :) no one ever adopted magnus in any format, we’re talking about bullet so magnus adopted everyone but no one can adopt him this is the proof number 1. Number 2 is this event was official and everyone literally every titled soul played for qualification only bests qualified. Magnus won against rauf mamedov then penguin then naroditsky. Naroditsky said “ magnus is the best bullet player” also penguin said the same thing he said i will put magnus 1 alireza 2 naka 3 then myself 4. You can count these GM’s comments ;) Also magnus adopted alireza and magnus has an positive life time score in Lichess in everyone ( 600-200 to penguin 500-300 to naroditsky 50-20 rauf and +40 against alireza) Stop being a hater Im spitting facts :)
@pearlskovlund5287
@pearlskovlund5287 3 жыл бұрын
@ Magnus has said - several times - recently, that he cannot keep up with Alireza in bullet. At least not currently. The best player in the world all together, certainly, but bullet is special.
3 жыл бұрын
Pearl Skovlund he said thatlong time ago. Alireza was competing in katara event which was the highest prized bullet tournement ever. Every titled player has joined, finals were alireza penguin and naroditsky and magnus ended up winning. Also magnus said that to be humble he had a positive score against alireza in bullet in Lichess
@Mrwutevah
@Mrwutevah 3 жыл бұрын
@ You're spitting opinions, and I'm hating only if you consider not agreeing that Magnus is conclusively the current best bullet player to be hate. 1. He's adopted them in the past. Alireza is young and constantly improving. He was rated lower at the time Magnus adopted him than he is now. 2. Again, it's one tourney result. If one would look at Ivanchuk's tourney result of Linares 1991 and conclude he was the strongest player at the time based on that, it wouldn't just be fair to Kasparov and Karpov, both arguably stronger at the time. Looking at singular tourneys just doesn't convincingly support what you're claiming. For the lifetime scores, yeah, sure, they're impressive, but for them to say anything, you'd also have to include Alireza's score against those opponents. Your score between Magnus and Alireza is at least in terms of bullet factually false. Magnus started this video with roughly +20 over Alireza, and when it ended, the difference had shrunk to +15. No +40 there. Again, chill. I'm not saying Magnus isn't the best player also in the bullet format (since he is, quite undoubtedly the strongest in all other formats), I'm just saying I'l not sure about it, since Alireza is producing impressive results in his encounters with the world champion. I don't see why you act so defensive, feeling the utmost need to proclaim in a comment started with "UPDATE" that Magnus in fact still is the strongest. Just as your example of Magnus winning a tourney with strong players doesn't mean he's the best, Alireza winning this one doesn't mean he's the best. You're defending something nobody (at least nobody reasonable) is attacking.

@Julio'sEM normally when you see 400 games with Magnus you expect Magnus to have like 300 wins or more. For it to be that close it means Magnus isnt as far ahead of everyone else in the chess world like he use to be. He really does need to work harder to keep his number 1 and reestablish himself has head and shoulders above everyone else. If not, he might lose his number 1 ranking in 2022.
