Finally perfect presentation 1) Big enough board for us to see 2) Panning across the player's faces and expressions 3) Nice commentary 4) And most importantly NOT FUCKING UP THE BOARD It took decades for us to have all 4 of these OBVIOUS principles of chess presentation, in the same video, I don't know how to feel...

He's losing to himself in his head, and thinking "How would I beat that move if I had a second chance" then he thinks a bit longer and beats his own move, makes the move, and then the opponent does a worse move and now he's thinking how he'd beat himself again, and then how he'd beat himself beating himself, and then he makes a move. That's, at least, what I am thinking he does.

At 48:48 The reason black can't just advance his pawn and king and force white to give up his rook for the pawn is that black has to move both his pawn and his king, while white just has to move his king, black was just one tempo away from drawing.

@@audball377 Count the moves. The black has to get his queen under the protection of the king, and to get to pawn on C1 and king on D2 he needs 6 moves. White is able to get his king to B2 in 5 moves. So right before black is able to get his protected queen, the C1 square will already be covered by the white king, so rook will be able to take down the queen as she appears - and King+Rook win against lone King

The phrase "Wesley So is maybe hoping his countryman, Nakamura, can do him a favor by defeating Magnus" brings me more joy than I can express. Wesley So was born in the Philippines. Hikaru Nakamura was born in Japan. But they're *both Americans.* Thats why they're counteymen. I love how diverse this country is, being a nation originally formed by and for immigrants and refugees. Which is not to say that we haven't had our share of racism and intolerance; I am under no delusions that this country is perfect. Obtaining entry and citizenship is probably harder now than it has ever been in history, and that saddens me a great deal because our racist and xenophobic voters and politicians are basically trying to codify racism into law, but I have faith that most Americans do not agree with those positions. As a descendant of German and Irish families, I believe that the majority of Americans would still welcome the tired, the poor and the huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. The racists and xenophobes are the exception to the rule, not the rule itself. ❤✌️

At 24:00 I'm pretty sure Magnus could have taken that backwards pawn on d6. Even if the black bishop took the pawn on b3, Magnus still would be able to take the black knight on d7. I guess I understand why he didn't take, he was afraid of the compensation that black gets by taking the a4 and c2 pawns for the knight, that's logical. There's also another line you got to consider. If you take the pawn on d6, then black could go rg6 and Magnus would have to go Qc7 and the black bishop would take the pawn on h3 and Magnus would be in a uncomfortable situation. That's the line he was probably worried about. The computer thinks that white's winning if he took the pawn, but with the amount of time left on the board, Magnus decided to make a flexible move and just go Qe3, that's a wise decision. I hope this was a helpful analysis for other people who were asking the same question.

the en passant rule ( if your opponent moves the pawn 2 squares and the pawn now stands next to your pawn on the same file you can capture it like it only moved 1 square. You have to do it directly after your opponent made the move otherwise the option is gone)

Magnus almost walking like an old man at the end. Not really, sitting for that long causes that kind of walk.

No Pokemon card has ever sold for $million+. The most expensive was $420,000. Also condition matters a lot, so even if they had the same card. If it's not in the same condition (highly unlikely), it wouldn't sell for nearly the same price.
