यो लिडेले कसरी हक्छ होला 😂 "
The above is one of the comments I received when I uploaded the video of the first time I recorded a podcast with Mahabir Pun. I don't know how should've reacted to it but if it were for this man who leads the National Innovation Center, he would have perhaps replied: "आइजो मुख थाप अनि थाहा हुन्छ । " It is his sheer unpretentiousness and the courage reply with the most tat-iest of tats to a tit that I am drawn towards talking to this innovator who has turned into a writer with his memoir.
So I thought I would sit with him again and talk about his book. After reading the book I was a tad embarrassed that he had done so much for the community. If there ever was a person who had lived up to a maxim that "One should be ashamed to die if they'd not done anything for humanity", it would certainly be Mahabir Pun who had organized so many campaigns, innovative projects and other business ventures to keep communities in his beloved Myagdi and beyond, going.
Growing up, I had aspired to become a literary critic. As I rarely see such critics meet the person, discuss about the aspirations of the authors while writing a book, and how their ideas have changed over time, I thought I first sit down with the author himself before writing and publishing a review.
In a long list of credentials of Mahabir Pun as a social entrepreneur, the head of the National Innovation Center, a teacher, an innovator etc., he has added a new dimension: a writer. His book is as he is- simple, forthright, not much of a blabber, no unnecessary self-deprecation nor an exaggeration of his achievements. So our team sat with him and discussed a few interesting events in his life which he has put mordantly in his book. In many a book reviews in modern times, we’ve heard the term “unputdownable”. No book ever is, along with Mahabir Pun’s memoir, quite literally, unputdownable. But despite being put-downable, you can find the book to be funny to the bones. And as long as there’s humor, every book is worth a read. And so is this one.
