This is the long term ownership review of a 2013 Mahindra XUV500 with over 1,15,000 km on the odd meter. This is the W8 AWD model.

I bought my 2015 XUV500 W10 and over the course of 3 years I've had to replace the full clutch system twice, the front suspension bearings and mounts once and the whole electric system had to be rewired. The car has costed me close to 1.5 lakhs in service costs over just 37000 kilometers. Horrible reliability in my opinion but a decent car. Sold it to a friend and now getting a new BMW 5 series. Just wanted to share my experience ;)

Sir except the clutch everything is in warranty And I have driven mine110000kms haven't replaced clutch once might as well change driving style because if you changed from a hatchback or sedan you tend to ride clutch. I agree it has problems but this not one of them.

I think it’s a rare phenomenon. It depends a lot on driving style especially clutch wear and tear. And no car is 100% perfect. But I still have not changed my opinion that IT IS VALUE FOR MONEY CAR. I am using xuv500 from last 4 years without any hassles.

I never had any issue with xuv even i did over 1 lakh km and my car it a 2012 model w8 it never had any issue with electronics or engine

The front armrest issue is just 4 hinge bolts which need to be tightened, they're located on the inside of the armrest on the hinge. Considering other service costs, there are certain service jobs which are not really required to be performed but the service centers recommend them anyway, that's a matter of personal opinion. Change the oil and filters regularly and the car will last a lifetime. That's the Mahindra reliability. Built robust!

Hi Omkar The arm-rest issue may seem easy on paper but both Shree Durga and Indraprastha (delhi based workshops) couldn't solve this. Ofcourse, I didn't go out of the way to get non-recommended job done. I have several other cars in the family and being a car enthu, do know how not to get ripped by workshops. Only the essentials were done in service / wear and tear replacements. I do agree the engine will last a lifetime but suspension - NO , and ditto for ITM and some electrical. Bunny Punia

Perfect explanation from, direct from the owner. No fake show-offs etc. High service cost doesn't come as a surprise - no one can match the Innova in this respect. Also, I am very sure the market value of your XUV will be 2-3 lakh less than a similar Innova right? Bunny, can you please make one of the Honda Amaze diesel? I want to know if the diesel is worthy in terms of being reliable in the long run, like a Maruti DDiS or not? Please do try to get hold of an Amaze diesel with such high mileage also.

astro2lifeblogspot.in the idetc engine in amaze is reliable,we have a The 1st gen amaze and it has done around 1,30,000 kms and it still doesn’t feel underpowered or lacks any power, I would surely recommend the car .p.s:we have changed the turbo of the engine once around 70k kms after an accident.

I have xuv AWD AT W10 2016 model ..I completelyAgree with you maintance cost is high .but. Pls don't compare with cresta ...it's all together two different segment ..people wish to buy xuv will not go for Crista this is for sure ...however Fortuner could be a option after putting additional 8 to 10 lk .choice is with users .if they wantbto get similar Fortuner experience in way lower price ...

hexa is around 500 kg heavier due to strong body, dont compare it with this tin

@@gauravsingh2011 that's because of bigger dimensions and mainly ladder frame chassis u idiot.. talk about tin XUV has better fit and finish than Hexa atleast if not better than innova.. The ladder frame chassis adds to weight in Hexa.. don't talk if u know nothing!

4 years of ownership in xuv 500 . Not really having issues with service part at least in Ahmedabad. Not sure of other states. Service dealers ( I presume ) are taking extra care of xuv owners for this model. And by the way I am not a media guy. Still my opinion of VALUE FOR MONEY has not changed a bit within these years AT LEAST!!!

I have used the car for the past one year reading from 49000kms upto 83000kms without dealer ship service.At present I have not observed any major defects to the vehicle.Rear balance rod bush is not durable made by Mahindra not overhaul clutch till date...

I have innova it suckss ...xuv is far better in features and even crysta top model dont get the features ...xuv w9 gets ...for ex- sunroof/moonroof ...invest safely because price of crysta is much high than xuv top.
